Raipur : Chhattisgarh is no longer confined to its traditional core sectors and will soon establish a national identity in the fields of wellness, healthcare and tourism, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said while addressing the Chhattisgarh Care Connect programme held at Omaya Garden in Raipur.

Chief Minister Shri Sai began his speech by extending greetings for Sharadiya Navratri and said the event had come at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s GST 2.0, with its emphasis on simplicity, transparency and speed, had opened up unprecedented opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs. He stressed that in sync with the Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat, the state government has set a target of a developed Chhattisgarh. To achieve this, more than 350 reforms have been implemented over the last one and a half years. “We have moved beyond ease of doing business and entered the era of speed of doing business,” Sai declared.

He emphasised that the state’s new industrial policy has become the bedrock of Chhattisgarh’s progress, boosting investor confidence. As a result, in just one year, investment proposals worth nearly seven and a half lakh crore rupees have been received, which will create lakhs of jobs and give the service sector a new identity.

Referring to proposals presented at Care Connect, the Chief Minister said that eleven major projects in the hospital and healthcare sector had come forward, including Ginni Devi Goyal Manipal Hospital in Raipur with 500 beds, NeerGanga Hospital and Research Centre in Raipur with 450 beds, Bombay Hospital with 300 beds, and Maa Padmavati Institute of Medical Sciences in Raipur with 750 beds. In total, the healthcare sector has attracted investment proposals worth more than ₹2,466 crore, which will generate nearly 6,000 new jobs.

CM Shri Sai added that the Medicity being developed in Naya Raipur would transform the state into a national medical hub. Patients not only from different districts of Chhattisgarh but also from neighbouring states already come here, and with the completion of Medicity, super-speciality services of world standard would be available. He further noted that Chhattisgarh has immense potential in the pharma sector as well, and the state government is preparing a pharma hub where multiple pharmaceutical industries will operate in one location. This will give a new direction to the pharmaceutical industry and ensure an easy supply of essential medicines for super-speciality hospitals.

Chief Minister Shri Sai pointed out that Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage and biodiversity offer vast opportunities for the tourism industry. Investment proposals worth more than ₹652 crore were received from the hotel and tourism sector, including the Westin Hotel Raipur with an investment of ₹212.7 crore, Hotel Ginger, Inferion Hotel and Resort, and Amuseorama Amusement Park and Hotel. Sai highlighted that tourism has been granted industry status, which will give special benefits to investors, and appealed to entrepreneurs connected with hotels, resorts, homestays and entertainment to utilise the state’s cultural and natural wealth to take tourism to new heights.

Assuring investors, he said that Chhattisgarh has a single-window ‘One-Click’ system that eliminates the need to run around for NOCs. Giving an example, he said that after the Delhi Investor Summit, Palimatech was allotted land and granted all approvals in less than three months, enabling it to start work on a project worth ₹1,100 crore.

CM Sai also announced that Chhattisgarh is embracing the AI revolution, with an AI Data Centre Park being developed in Naya Raipur which will make the state a hub of artificial intelligence and data management. He said there are immense opportunities for industries connected with data centres. On the energy front, the Chief Minister said that energy is the most essential element in building a developed India, and Chhattisgarh is moving rapidly towards becoming the country’s power hub. Already playing a vital role in coal, mineral and power production, the state’s contribution will increase further in the coming years.

He emphasised that the central location of Chhattisgarh in India gives it a unique advantage. Abundant availability of raw materials, strong road, rail and air connectivity, and skilled human resources make it an ideal destination for investment. He informed that an air cargo service has also begun in the state, which will accelerate trade. Sai underlined that Chhattisgarh will no longer be limited to steel, cement, power and aluminium but will now gain recognition in the service sector as well. Healthcare, hospitality, tourism and AI-based industries will provide the state economy with new dimensions in the years ahead.

Industry Minister Lakhhan Lal Dewangan, speaking at the programme, said the government would provide every possible facility in all types of investment, including health and tourism. He noted that the new industrial policy has increased the attraction of industrialists towards the state. The Chief Minister, he said, had personally attended investor summits not only in various states but also abroad in Japan and South Korea, and more than five rounds of meetings had been held with investors. As a result, proposals worth nearly seven and a half lakh crore rupees have been received in the last ten months. He added that efforts were being made to encourage the hotel and tourism sector as well, and under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state was striving to achieve the best possible results.

The Care Connect programme in Raipur saw prestigious companies from the healthcare and hospitality sectors place major proposals. For healthcare, Bombay Hospital Trust of Mumbai proposed a 300-bed super-speciality hospital in Raipur with an investment of ₹680.37 crore, promising 500 jobs. Maa Padmavati Institute of Medical Sciences proposed a 750-bed multi-speciality hospital in Raipur with an investment of ₹340 crore and 1,500 jobs. Aarogyamrit Wellness LLP proposed a health and wellness centre in Raipur with an investment of ₹300 crore and 1,000 jobs.

Four Seasons Hospital and Research Centre proposed a 600-bed facility in Raipur with an investment of ₹302 crore and 1,400 jobs. Ginni Devi Goyal Manipal Foundation planned a 500-bed multi-super-speciality hospital in Raipur with an investment of ₹307 crore, creating 100 jobs. NeerGanga Hospital and Research Centre of Vandana Group proposed a 450-bed multi-speciality hospital in Raipur with an investment of ₹205.23 crore and 302 jobs.

Memon Healthcare Pvt Ltd proposed a 150-bed Sanjeevani Super Speciality Hospital in Raipur with an investment of ₹101 crore and 400 jobs. Modern Medical Institute proposed a 150-bed super-speciality hospital in Raipur with an investment of ₹91.8 crore and 555 jobs. Shriram Sanjeevani Cancer Hospital proposed a 100-bed facility with an investment of ₹70 crore and 200 jobs. RS Armani Healthcare LLP proposed a 50-bed hospital with an investment of ₹59.37 crore and 76 jobs. Vrinda Chest and Medical Sciences proposed a 50-bed facility in Raipur with an investment of ₹10 crore.

On the hospitality side, the Westin Hotel Raipur of the Sarda Group, Nagpur proposed an investment of ₹212.7 crore with 400 jobs. Panchamrit Entertainment Pvt Ltd proposed an Amuseorama Amusement Park and Hotel in Raipur with an investment of ₹80.91 crore and 300 jobs. Inferion Hotel and Resort in Raipur came with a proposal of ₹80 crore. Hotel Ginger Raipur of the DSS Group proposed an investment of ₹78 crore with 135 jobs. MM Hotel Inn and Resorts in Raipur proposed an investment of ₹63 crore with 110 jobs. Prayas Mall and Multiplex in Dhamtari proposed an investment of ₹41.82 crore with 30 jobs. Inferion Lake Resort in Balod and a hotel in Rajnandgaon together was proposed with investments of ₹25 crore each, promising 175 jobs. Godriwala and MM Group of Raipur proposed an amusement park with an investment of ₹24.9 crore and 70 jobs. Bafna Lawn and Hotel in Dhamtari, of the Sarovar Portico Group, proposed an investment of ₹20.97 crore with 22 jobs.

In total, the investment proposals announced at the event stood at ₹3,119.07 crore, including ₹2,466.77 crore in healthcare and ₹652.3 crore in hotel and tourism. Together, the projects will generate over 7,000 jobs and add more than 2,800 new hospital beds in the state.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai thanked investors, saying this investment would establish Chhattisgarh as a new centre for healthcare, wellness and tourism, and the state would play a leading role in building Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. Concluding the event, he added that Chhattisgarh offered unlimited opportunities for investment and the government, under the new industrial policy, would provide every possible facility and support to investors. He expressed confidence that in partnership with industry and investors, Chhattisgarh would write a new chapter of growth.

Two hundred devotees depart for Maa Bamleshwari Darshan

Kalimata Seva Samiti’s free bus service to continue for nine days during Navratri

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today inaugurated a free bus service from Raipur’s Akashvani Chowk Maa Kali Temple to Dongargarh for devotees visiting Maa Bamleshwari during the Navratri festival. Pilgrims from Raipur will be able to avail this complimentary facility throughout the nine days of Sharadiya Navratri.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai lauded the initiative of the Kalimata Seva Samiti, extended his greetings to its office-bearers, and prayed to Maa Kali and Maa Bamleshwari for prosperity, peace, and happiness in Chhattisgarh. He also conveyed his warm wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Navratri.

The free bus service, organized by the Kalimata Seva Samiti, will operate daily for nine consecutive days of the festival. Four buses will ferry devotees from Raipur to Dongargarh for Maa Bamleshwari’s darshan and bring them back the same day. Today, the Chief Minister flagged off the first batch of nearly 200 male and female devotees in four buses.

On the occasion, Shri Sai said, “For the last ten years, the Kalimata Seva Samiti has been selflessly arranging four daily buses during Navratri to facilitate devotees’ darshan of Maa Bamleshwari. This is not only a testament to deep religious faith but also a living example of social unity. The desire to visit temples of the Goddess during Navratri resides in every Sanatani’s heart. Merely visualising the darshan of Maa fills one with divine energy. Yet, often due to various constraints, many are unable to travel to distant shrines. In such cases, this bus service proves immensely valuable.”

He further added that the initiative has not only opened the way for devotees to have Maa Bamleshwari’s darshan but also conveyed a powerful message of service, dedication, and inclusivity.

Chief Minister Shri Sai also highlighted that a MEMU train service from Rajim to Raipur was recently inaugurated, making it even easier for pilgrims from Chhattisgarh’s Kumbh city to reach Maa Bamleshwari’s shrine. He extended special appreciation to Shri Shrichand Sundarani, Shri Deepak Bhardwaj, and all members of the Kalimata Seva Samiti for their dedicated efforts.

Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, while addressing the gathering, urged the committee to also operate a bus from Kawardha to Dongargarh.

State government committed to holistic development of tribal communities: CM Sai

₹75 lakh announced for construction of five domes for Dhurwa Samaj

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reaffirmed that the state government is committed to the holistic development of tribal communities. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Dharti Aba Gram Utkarsh Yojana with the vision that there should be no shortage of funds or resources for the development of tribal-dominated villages. For this scheme, a provision of ₹80,000 crore has been made. He added that the PM Janman Yojana, meant for the upliftment of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) — referred to as the adopted children of the President — is ensuring positive steps to connect these communities with the mainstream of development.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said these meaningful initiatives will usher in a wave of development in tribal areas and enable tribal communities to march ahead on the path of progress. He made these remarks while addressing the divisional-level Nuakhai Milan of the Dhurwa Samaj and the inauguration of the newly built community hall “Olekh” at the Forest School campus in Jagdalpur. On the occasion, CM Sai announced ₹75 lakh for the construction of five domes for the Dhurwa Samaj at different locations, each to be built at a cost of ₹15 lakh. He also assured approval of development proposals submitted by 36 sarpanches of the community’s gram panchayats.

Chief Minister Shri Sai performed rituals at a symbolic gudi dedicated to Goddess Danteshwari, the presiding deity of Bastar, and formally inaugurated the Dhurwa Samaj’s new community hall “Olekh.”

Paying tribute to the community’s great hero Shaheed Gundadhur, CM Sai said that this historic Nuakhai Milan is a celebration of the rich cultural traditions of the tribal society. “It is our proud tradition that before consuming any grain or fruit, we first offer it to our deities. This tradition continues today and will be preserved for generations to come,” he said.

Congratulating the Dhurwa Samaj on the inauguration of “Olekh,” he said the new facility will be extremely useful for the community’s development and serve as a venue for meetings and conventions.

CM Sai recalled the contribution of the architect of Chhattisgarh, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, keeping the welfare of tribal communities in mind, had established a separate Ministry of Tribal Affairs in the Government of India. Extending greetings on the Silver Jubilee year of Chhattisgarh, he said Vajpayee’s birth centenary year is being observed as Atal Nirman Varsh.

Highlighting the role of Special Tribal Area Development Authorities, CM Sai said that former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh had set up these bodies for Bastar and Surguja to ensure that, in addition to existing schemes, necessary development works could be carried out in these regions.

He further said that his government is actively implementing the Niyad Nellanar Yojana in Maoist-affected areas of Bastar division, ensuring roads, bridges, electricity, and drinking water along with basic facilities such as housing and ration supplies. “We are working with complete commitment to ensure that every eligible person receives the benefits of welfare schemes,” he asserted.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, extending his greetings to the members of Dhurwa Samaj, said that the coordinated effort of the society is inspiring for the younger generation. “When we continue to uphold and preserve the traditions of our ancestors, the unity and culture of our community grow stronger,” he said.

The event was also addressed by Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap, and Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Dev, who extended their best wishes to the Dhurwa Samaj on the occasion of the Nuakhai Milan.

Earlier, Dhurwa Samaj’s divisional president Pappu Nag delivered the welcome address and highlighted the activities of the community. The community leaders presented CM Sai with a traditional chhatri, Dhurwa tuwal, koti, and bow and arrows as a token of their heartfelt welcome. Other guests were also welcomed in traditional fashion.

Raipur : Sometimes, the most powerful moments in politics are not in speeches or grand inaugurations, but in small, tender gestures. Such a moment unfolded at the Dhurwa Samaj’s Nuakhai Milan in Jagdalpur when Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai picked up four-year-old Bhoomika Baghel in his arms and fed her a traditional Mahua laddoo.

The little girl, from Ulnar village in Jagdalpur block, had arrived with her grandfather, Sonsari Baghel. Clad in her community’s traditional attire, Bhoomika instantly drew attention with her innocence. When CM Sai asked her name and which class she studied in, her simple reply — “I study in LKG at Deepti Convent School” — accompanied by a radiant smile, melted the gathering.

For those present, it was more than a ceremonial exchange. Bhoomika’s smile, her gleaming eyes and colorful dress became a reflection of Bastar’s living culture, its vibrancy and its hope. Many in the audience said later that the CM’s gesture “brought the festival alive with real emotion.”

In his remarks, CM Sai lauded the Dhurwa Samaj for its landmark decision last year to make education compulsory up to Class 12 for all children. “Education and values are what shape the future of our generations,” he said, wishing that Bhoomika and every daughter of Chhattisgarh could soar high in life while staying rooted in their culture.

The moment stood out as an emblem of the CM’s simple style — accessible, affectionate, and deeply tied to tribal society. Observers noted that such personal warmth reassures communities that leadership is not distant, but sharing in their joys and sorrows.

CM Sai highlights glorious history of Mahra Samaj, recalls contributions of Jagtu Mahra and Dharmu Mahra

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today inaugurated the newly constructed community hall of the Mahra Samaj at Guru Govind Singh Ward in Jagdalpur. The hall has been built at a cost of ₹1.63 crore.

On this occasion, CM Sai was accorded a grand welcome with traditional Mohri Baja. Members of the Mahra Samaj enthusiastically honored him by adorning him with the traditional Mahra Pata. Chief Minister Shri Sai cut the ribbon to formally inaugurate the hall and expressed gratitude to the community for the invitation and the warm welcome on this historic occasion.

In his address, CM Sai recalled the glorious history of the Mahra Samaj. He said that Jagdalpur was founded by Jagtu Mahra, while Dharmupura was established by Dharmu Mahra. He particularly highlighted the active role of the community in movements like Bhumkal and its resistance against the oppressive policies of the British.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that it was due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah that the Mahra Samaj was granted Scheduled Caste status. This historic decision, he said, will open up greater opportunities for the youth of the community in education and employment, ensuring a brighter future.

Highlighting various welfare initiatives, CM Sai said that PM Modi’s primary goal is the welfare of the poor and the economic development of farmers. He informed that so far, 18 lakh houses have been approved in the state. Farmers are being procured 21 quintals of paddy per acre, with a payment of ₹3,100 per quintal.

Emphasizing employment for youth, CM Sai said that a new industrial policy has been formulated in the state to create more jobs and promote self-employment. He added that the government is working rapidly for the complete eradication of Naxalism, so that development works like road construction, electricity supply, and installation of mobile towers in affected regions can proceed smoothly. He said that along with basic amenities such as housing and ration supplies, welfare schemes are also being delivered to the people. “In this direction, the Niyad Nellanar Yojana is proving to be a long-term solution,” he remarked.

At the event, Mahra Samaj divisional president Raju Baghel delivered the welcome address, Shanti Nag presented the community’s report, and community patron Bicchem Pondi proposed the vote of thanks.

Improved Travel Facilities Between Raipur and Rajim

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today flagged off a new MEMU train service from Rajim to Raipur, enhancing travel convenience for people of the region. The inauguration took place in Rajim, where the Chief Minister also launched the Rajim–Raipur–Rajim MEMU service and extended the Raipur–Abhanpur MEMU train to Rajim. A large number of passengers boarded the inaugural service and travelled enthusiastically to Raipur. The introduction of an affordable and accessible train service created an atmosphere of joy and celebration across the area.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said the new service would provide an economical travel option to residents of Rajim, Gariaband, and Devbhog for reaching the state capital, Raipur. He noted that the train would prove particularly beneficial for students, employees, and traders. “Rajim, the ‘Prayag of Chhattisgarh,’ has now been connected to the rail network. Travel from rural regions to Raipur will become more convenient, comfortable, and affordable,” he added.

Highlighting the pace of development in the state, the Chief Minister said, “With the blessings of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Chhattisgarh has witnessed uninterrupted progress for the past 19 months. The rapid investments being made in railway infrastructure will shape a new future for coming generations.” He recalled that nearly eight years ago, a narrow-gauge train used to run from Dhamtari to Raipur, and after this gap, broad-gauge service has now been made available. On behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh, Shri Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Modi for this development.

Chief Minister Shri Sai informed that around ₹45,000 crore worth of railway projects are currently underway in the state. In the Budget for FY 2025–26, a provision of nearly ₹7,000 crore has been made, ensuring rapid expansion and development of railway services in Chhattisgarh.

The inauguration event was attended by Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Food Minister Shri Dayal Das Baghel, Raipur MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, Mahasamund MP Smt. Forest Minister and District-in-Charge Minister for Raipur, Shri Kedar Kashyap, said that the direct rail link to Rajim, the ‘Prayag of Chhattisgarh,’ would also boost tourism. He highlighted that on May 22, 103 railway stations across the country were selected for modernization under the ‘Nirmal Bharat Railway Station’ scheme, which includes five stations from Chhattisgarh, with 32 more to be added. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Modi and appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Shri Sai, noting that the ongoing ₹45,000 crore worth of projects will greatly strengthen connectivity. He further mentioned that Bastar too is benefiting, with the 140 km-long railway line under the Raoghat Project progressing steadily.

Raipur MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal noted that Rajim attracts large numbers of saints and tourists from across the country. “With this new connectivity, they can now travel directly from Raipur to Rajim, which will not only boost tourism and regional development but also enhance Rajim’s prominence on the global map,” he said.

Mahasamund MP Smt. Rupkumari Chaudhary congratulated the people and said the service would make travel between Rajim and Raipur much easier. Pilgrims and tourists would now also be able to travel directly from Rajim to Dongargarh.

According to information received from the Raipur Division of South East Central Railway, the Raipur–Abhanpur–Raipur MEMU passenger service has been extended to Rajim. From September 19, 2025, train number 68766/68767 Rajim–Abhanpur–Raipur MEMU passenger will run daily in both directions between Rajim and Raipur. CM launches Adi Seva Pakhwada, transfers ₹6.2 crore scholarship and meal aid to 8,370 students

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday launched the Adi Seva Pakhwada at the Prayas Residential School, Saddu, Raipur. He said the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan would play a historic role in ushering ground-level change in tribal villages. Extending greetings on behalf of the state’s three crore citizens, CM Sai wished Prime Minister Modi a long and healthy life. The programme was attended by Scheduled Caste Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, MLA Motilal Sahu and several public representatives.

The Chief Minister said that under the campaign, a Tribal Vision Document 2030 will be prepared for every tribal village of the state, which will serve as a long-term roadmap for development. These will be endorsed in Gram Sabhas on October 2. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the campaign nationwide today from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. CM Sai said the objective of the Adi Karmayogi campaign is to build leadership capacity in tribal villages.

Volunteers will be identified who hold a vision for village development and can implement it at the grassroots. A target has been set to prepare 20 lakh volunteers across the country, of which 1.33 lakh will be mobilised in 6,650 villages of Chhattisgarh. He informed that Adi Seva Kendras have also been established, where villagers can access government services and register their grievances.

Highlighting the glorious tribal legacy of the nation, CM Sai said the state government is drawing inspiration from tribal icons like Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh and Gundadhur. A museum is coming up at Naya Raipur to preserve the memories of tribal heroes, while the Tribal Museum showcases the cultural richness of Chhattisgarh’s communities. He added that under PM Modi’s PM Janman Yojana and Dharti Aba Janjatiya Utkarsh Gram Abhiyan, budgetary support is being utilised rapidly. Areas where development has not fully reached will now see transformation at every doorstep through the Adi Karmayogi campaign, integrating them with the mainstream.

Tribal Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam said the Adi Karmayogi campaign is the outcome of Prime Minister Modi’s far-sighted vision. It will give new direction and momentum to the development of over 11 crore tribals in the country. He said Modi, a globally popular leader and the architect of New India, will certainly fulfil the resolve of making India a developed nation by 2047. He stressed that the state government is advancing the campaign in a spirit of service, dedication and mission mode. Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal added that PM Modi is working on the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and the Adi Karmayogi campaign will ensure comprehensive development of tribal society.

Principal Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department Sonmoni Borah, presenting the departmental report, said that 1.33 lakh Adi Saathis and Adi Sahayogis are being trained across 6,650 villages. These associates will communicate with tribal families in their own languages, understand their issues and aspirations, and help shape development priorities. He said the goal is to prepare 50,000 Adi Karmayogis by the upcoming State Foundation Day. Scholarship disbursal timelines have been fixed to ensure timely credit to students’ accounts.

₹6.2 crore transferred as scholarship and meal aid

On the occasion, CM Sai digitally transferred ₹6,02,19,270 to the accounts of 8,370 students residing in ashram hostels under schemes of the Tribal Development, Scheduled Caste Development and Backward Class Welfare Departments. The assistance included both scholarships and meal support.

Sapling planted under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0

The Chief Minister planted a jamun sapling in the Prayas School campus under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0. He viewed paintings and rangolis made by students, praised their creativity, and received a portrait painting of himself as a gift.

Lunch with Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group children

CM Sai also had lunch with children of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Baiga community. He sat with student Kishan Baiga and student Anjula Baiga, both from Prayas Residential School, Saddu. Sharing munaga sabzi, poori and dal-bhaat, he interacted warmly with them. Kishan, a resident of LakhanTola village in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district and a Class 11 student, told the CM about PM Janman Yojana works in his village. Anjula, a Class 12 student from Devgarh village in the same district, said she was pursuing biology. The CM encouraged both to study with dedication and blessed them.

New rail link to ease travel between Raipur and Rajim, boost connectivity and tourism

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will flag off the new Raipur–Rajim–Raipur MEMU passenger service at Rajim railway station on September 18 at 10:30 am. Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel, Lok Sabha MPs Brijmohan Agrawal and Rupkumari Choudhary, along with MLAs Indrakumar Sahu and Rohit Sahu, will also grace the occasion.

The new Raipur–Rajim–Raipur MEMU passenger service will provide passengers with a more convenient, accessible and affordable travel option. Connectivity from rural areas to the state capital Raipur will become smoother. The service will especially benefit students, working professionals and traders commuting to the capital. With this, direct rail access to Rajim — regarded as the ‘Prayag of Chhattisgarh’ — will also be ensured, giving a further boost to tourism.

According to information received from South East Central Railway’s Raipur Division, the existing Raipur–Abhanpur–Raipur MEMU passenger train is being extended to Rajim. From September 19, 2025, train numbers 68766/68767 Raipur–Rajim–Raipur MEMU passenger will operate daily from both ends — Rajim and Raipur — as per the regular timetable. Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai this evening attended the Kharun Maiya Samrasta Mahaarati organised at Mahadev Ghat, Raipura. The grand event was jointly held under the aegis of Sanatan Dhwaj Vahini and Mahila Morcha to mark the birthday of the country’s popular Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On this occasion, 2,100 lamps were lit on the riverbank as part of the traditional Deepdan.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai said it was a matter of great fortune that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s pride has risen across the globe. He described Modi as the architect of modern India, who is relentlessly working for the creation of a developed nation, benefitting the country’s 1.4 billion citizens. CM attends 66th Foundation Day celebrations of Doordarshan

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today attended the 66th Foundation Day celebrations of Doordarshan at its Raipur centre and extended his greetings to the Doordarshan family, officers, staff and viewers. Lighting the ceremonial lamp, he inaugurated the programme and shared his personal memories associated with Doordarshan’s historic journey. On the occasion, he enjoyed captivating performances of Chhattisgarhi folk dance, folk songs and classical music and dance. The Chief Minister said Doordarshan has played a pivotal role not only in entertainment but also in enriching society with ideas and nurturing values. Recalling the coloured telecast of the 1982 Asian Games and iconic serials like Ramayana and Mahabharata, he said the magic of Doordarshan was such that during telecast hours, streets would fall silent.

Highlighting Doordarshan’s contribution to national unity, CM Sai said songs like Mile Sur Mera Tumhara became symbols of harmony and cultural oneness. He praised Doordarshan for upholding dignity in news and purity in language.

He underlined the role of regional centres in providing national platforms to local talent. The Raipur Doordarshan centre, he said, has brought Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage to national and global audiences through popular programmes, particularly Hamar Chinhari.

CM Sai further noted that through programmes like Krishi Darshan, women-centric shows and youth content, Doordarshan has reached every section of society. Recalling his interview on the Apni Baat programme after assuming office as CM, he said Doordarshan always provides the space to communicate with clarity and depth.

He added that the government’s welfare schemes are benefitting lakhs of people, and Doordarshan has effectively highlighted the positive transformations in society. “When one success story of an individual is broadcast on Doordarshan, it becomes an inspiring foundation to transform the lives of lakhs,” he said.

Raipur : The ex-gratia amount provided to the wives or dependents of soldiers martyred in war and military operations (battle casualties) has been increased from ₹20 lakh to ₹50 lakh. Param Vir Chakra awardees will now receive ₹1 crore gallantry award instead of ₹40 lakh. These landmark decisions were taken today at the Rajya Sainik Board meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

The sixth meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board under the Department of Soldiers’ Welfare was held today at Mahanadi Bhavan, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. On the occasion, the CM said, “Our soldiers lay down their lives for the security of the nation. We bow to their valour and sacrifice. The government is committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.” The meeting also discussed various welfare schemes run by the state for war widows, ex-servicemen, and their dependents.

Addressing the committee, CM Sai said that the safety of 140 crore Indians rests on the tireless dedication of the nation’s brave soldiers. “It is the duty and responsibility of all of us to ensure the welfare of these sons of Bharat Mata who dedicate their lives in her service. Today’s meeting has resulted in fruitful discussions for the benefit of ex-servicemen, widows, and their families. The decisions taken will directly benefit them. Several important suggestions were also given by members for the betterment of ex-servicemen, which will be positively considered,” the Chief Minister added.

During the meeting, several important agenda points were approved in favour of ex-servicemen, widows, and their dependents. These include: increasing the ex-gratia for wife or dependents of battle casualties from ₹20 lakh to ₹50 lakh; enhancing the amount for gallantry award recipients, with Param Vir Chakra awardees now to receive ₹1 crore instead of ₹40 lakh; raising the motivational grant given to parents of soldiers from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000; and increasing the grant for soldiers disabled in war and military operations from ₹10 lakh to ₹30 lakh. Additionally, serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, and widows will now receive stamp duty exemption up to ₹25 lakh on their first land or house purchase.

The meeting began with a welcome of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Government Amitabh Jain presented him with a sapling. Subsequently, Brigadier Vivek Sharma, VSM (Retd), Director of Soldiers’ Welfare Directorate, Chhattisgarh, and Secretary of the Rajya Sainik Board, presented a brief report on the activities of the Rajya Sainik Board. He also presented the progress report on the proceedings of the fifth Rajya Sainik Board meeting held on 13 January 2012, before initiating discussions on the agenda items of the sixth meeting.

CM Sai attends Cartoon Festival 2025

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today attended the Cartoon Festival 2025 organized by Cartoon Watch magazine at a private hotel in the state capital Raipur. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that cartoons are not merely a source of entertainment, but also a mirror of society. Through humor and satire, cartoons present complex issues in a simple manner. A cartoon is not only entertainment, but also an art form that creates awareness in society and inspires people to think.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Sai presented the Lifetime Achievement Award of Cartoon Watch magazine to the eminent cartoonist from Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Manoj Chopra. The Chief Minister also encouraged the participating cartoonists at the festival and even sketched a cartoon himself.

Speaking further, Chief Minister Sai said that it is a matter of pride that Cartoon Watch has successfully completed 29 years and is now entering its 30th year. I heartily congratulate and extend best wishes to the entire team of Cartoon Watch to continue their outstanding contribution in the field of cartoons.

The Chief Minister added that if next year’s Cartoon Watch Festival is held in Bastar, it would be a matter of great joy. Peace is now being established in Bastar, and soon the region will be completely free from Naxalism. Through the Niyad Nellanar Yojana, government schemes are reaching the people of Bastar. More than 300 villages have already been provided with basic facilities such as roads, electricity, water, and ration cards. Where once the sound of guns echoed, today the school bell rings.

Chief Minister Shri Sai further stated that 1.65 lakh people participated in the Bastar Olympics. Similarly, Bastar Pandum, celebrating the cultural identity of Bastar, was organized with the participation of 47,000 people. This is proof that the people of Bastar are now joining the mainstream. Just yesterday, I attended the Investor Connect program in Bastar, where large-scale investments were announced, ensuring employment opportunities for local people.

Chief Minister Sai said that as part of the roadmap for a developed Chhattisgarh, we have prepared a Vision Document. Investments are flowing into several sectors including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, and textiles. Recently, during visits to Japan and Korea, we signed multiple MoUs with industries. The future of Chhattisgarh is indeed very bright.

He added that cartoons are a very powerful medium. The Cartoon Watch team should also help disseminate government schemes through cartoons. This effort by Cartoon Watch provides a platform to cartoonists, helping them further polish their creativity.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma said that cartoons are a unique blend of media and literature. This genre is remarkable because, while witty, it also has the capacity to “fit an ocean into a pitcher.” Personally, whenever I read a newspaper, I always look at the cartoons. Mr. Trayambak Sharma has made an invaluable contribution in keeping the art of cartoons alive.

MLA Mr. Anuj Sharma said that Cartoon Watch is the only dedicated cartoon magazine in the country. Its 30-year journey reflects the determination of its editor, Mr. Trayambak Sharma. To accelerate the development of Bastar, the Government has approved railway projects worth ₹5,200 crore. These include the new Raoghat–Jagdalpur rail line (₹3,513.11 crore) and the doubling of the Kottavalasa–Kirandul (KK) rail line. In addition, road development projects worth ₹2300 crore have been sanctioned for Bastar. The region, once known as a Naxal-affected zone, is now on track to become one of the most developed and prosperous divisions of Chhattisgarh. The State and Central Governments are jointly constructing an alternative route from Dhamtari–Kanker–Kondagaon to Jagdalpur, which will pass through Kanker, Antagarh, Narayanpur’s Abujhmad, Dantewada’s Barsur, and further connect to Bijapur. Similarly, multiple new road links are being built between Jagdalpur and Sukma, extending to Bijapur.

With these projects, all seven districts of Bastar will be connected by multiple routes, reducing distances and making the delivery of development schemes more effective. This modern road network will not just improve connectivity but also unlock new avenues for security, education, healthcare, and economic growth. Bastar is thus transforming from a land of struggle into a symbol of connectivity, prosperity, and security.

Major Public Investments Driving Growth

Significant public sector investments are laying the foundation for Bastar’s industrial expansion. The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has committed ₹43,000 crore. In addition, a state-of-the-art Super Speciality Hospital is being established with an outlay of ₹200 crore, further strengthening the region’s infrastructure and healthcare ecosystem.

Private Sector Momentum and Inclusive Development

Complementing these large public investments, private players are expected to bring in nearly ₹1,000 crore, primarily in the service sector and MSMEs. This diversified growth will not only accelerate industrial activity but also generate large-scale employment opportunities, contributing to inclusive and sustainable development in Bastar. With almost ₹52,000 crore in overall commitments, the region is poised to become a new epicenter of industrial and socio-economic transformation.

Revolution in Healthcare: First 350 bedded pvt hospital in Bastar

For the first time, Bastar will have a 350-bed multi-specialty pvt hospital and medical college in Jagdalpur, with an Invitation to Invest letter issued to Raipur Stone Clinic Pvt. Ltd.. With an investment of ₹550 crore and 200 jobs, this project will elevate Bastar’s healthcare services and turn it into a hub for medical education.

In addition, Jagdalpur will see a multi-specialty hospital worth ₹33 crore, and Navbharat Institute of Medical Sciences will set up a 200-bed multi-super specialty hospital with ₹85 crore investment. These initiatives will not only expand modern healthcare in Bastar but also generate hundreds of jobs for local youth.

New Era of Food Processing

Modern rice mills and food processing units are being established across Bijapur, Narayanpur, Bastar, and Kondagaon.These facilities will ensure better returns for farmers while creating numerous job opportunities for local youth.

Agritech and Value Addition

Parshwa Agritech in Narayanpur aims to produce 2,400 tonnes of parboiled rice annually. With ₹8 crore investment and new employment generation, the project is set to give Bastar’s farm produce the much-needed value addition push.

Growth in Wellness and Hospitality

Naman Club and Wellness Centre is coming up in Jagdalpur with ₹7.65 crore investment and 30 jobs, expanding health and wellness services. New warehousing facilities are being set up in Kanker, Bhanupratappur, and Kondagaon to ensure secure storage and smooth supply chains. Projects like Danteshwari Cold Storage will help preserve farmers’ produce longer, reduce wastage, and increase profits.

Modern Industries Enter Bastar

Shankara Latex Industries will establish a ₹40 crore surgical gloves manufacturing unit generating 150 jobs—an important step in strengthening India’s self-reliance in the healthcare sector.

Support under the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme

Under the PMFME scheme, beneficiaries from Kanker, Bastar, and Kondagaon districts have been provided financial assistance. In Kanker district, Shri Mukesh Khatwani (M/s Rudra Foods and Beverages) received ₹35 lakh. In Bastar district, Smt. Yogita Wankhede of M/s Maa Gruh Udyog was sanctioned ₹5 lakh. In Kondagaon district, Smt. Ragini Jaiswal of M/s Fitness Fuel was sanctioned ₹5 lakh, along with an additional ₹9.50 lakh. In total, beneficiaries under the scheme received financial support exceeding ₹49.50 lakh.

Empowerment through the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)

Under the PMEGP scheme, Shri Harish Komra from Kanker district (ready-made garments – ₹9 lakh), Shri Suresh Baghel from Kanker (harvester – ₹20 lakh), Shri Chandrashekhar Das from Bastar (M/s Deeksha Tent House – ₹8.80 lakh), and Shri Revendra Rana from Bastar (M/s Rana Mobile Repairing – ₹7.50 lakh) received support. Additionally, in Kondagaon district, Shri Suresh Kumar Devangan of M/s Kisan Mitan Agro was sanctioned ₹50 lakh for tractor-trolley manufacturing. In total, assistance amounting to ₹94.50 lakh was extended under the scheme.

New Opportunities through Industrial Policy

As part of the state government’s Industrial Policy, grants for fixed capital investment have also been extended. In Kanker district, Smt. Sadhana Sharma, partner of M/s Mahaveer Warehouse, was sanctioned ₹90 lakh for the establishment of a warehouse. Through such initiatives, entrepreneurship and industrial development are being accelerated in the Bastar division, opening up employment and self-reliance opportunities for local youth and women.

Overall, Bastar is witnessing proposed investments of over ₹967 crore, benefiting more than 2100 local people. From health, agriculture, and food processing to dairy, tourism, construction, and education, this investment wave positions Bastar as a true “investment destination.”

Opportunities for Industrial Expansion in Bastar

Bastar is emerging as a promising hub for industrial growth, with plans to establish a dedicated cement plant in proximity to the steel plant, ensuring synergy and efficient resource utilization. Alongside, several ancillary industries are being promoted, including motor repair and winding units, machine and fabrication shops, and pump repair facilities. The iron and steel sector also holds immense potential with opportunities for manufacturing TMT bars, angles, channels, wire rods, bright bars, and other value-added products.

CM’s 100+ Visits in 20 Months: Building Trust and Development

Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Bastar is moving swiftly towards peace and progress. In the last 20 months, he has toured more than 100 locations in Bastar. His efforts have expanded basic amenities while instilling hope and confidence in Naxal-affected areas.

The flagship “Niyad Nella Naar” scheme has delivered road, education, health, and communication facilities to Bastar’s remotest corners. Within the 10-km radius of security camps, 81,090 Aadhaar cards, 49,239 Ayushman cards, 5,885 Kisan Samman Nidhi benefits, 2,355 Ujjwala connections, and 98,319 ration cards have been issued. The scheme has also built 21 perennial roads, 635 mobile towers, 18 fair-price shops, and 9 sub-health centres.

So far, 54 security camps have been set up. For the first time, banks have opened in 28 villages including Jagargunda and Pamed, and over 50 closed schools have been reopened.

New Rehabilitation Policy: Path for Surrendered Naxals

The state’s new rehabilitation policy offers surrendered Naxals a fresh chance at mainstream life. It provides ₹10,000 monthly financial aid for three years, along with four dismil plots in urban areas or one hectare farmland in rural areas.

Surrendered cadres will get vocational training and full reward money. Groups surrendering 80% or more of members will receive double the reward amount, while Naxal-free villages will be sanctioned ₹1 crore worth of development works.

Under PM Awas Yojana, 15,000 houses have been approved for surrendered Naxals and violence-hit families. With enhanced aid and clear land-housing provisions, the number of surrenders has significantly increased.

Modi’s Guarantee: Higher Rate for Tendu Leaf Collectors

The state has raised tendu leaf procurement rates from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per standard bag, directly benefiting 52 lakh tendu leaf collectors (13 lakh families) in Bastar.

Skill Development: Opportunities for Youth

Under the Mukhyamantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, 90,273 youths have received training, with 39,137 securing jobs. In 2024–25 alone, 3,296 youths are being trained in IT, automotive, construction, and solar sectors.

Naxal Eradication: Major Successes

Since December 2023, security forces’ aggressive strategy has yielded notable results: 453 Naxals killed, 1,611 arrested, and 1,636 surrendered. Over 65 new security camps have been set up in 20 months, expanding safety across remote areas and strengthening villagers’ confidence. Infrastructure expansion—roads, bridges, and mobile networks—has further reinforced this progress.

The government is committed to achieving Naxal eradication by March 2026, alongside sustained development and peace.

Industrial Policy 2024–30: A Game Changer

The Chhattisgarh Industrial Policy 2024–30 has not only opened new doors of investment, innovation, and jobs in Bastar but across the state. The Bastar Investor Connect reflects the state’s commitment to balanced regional development.

The policy ensures job creation, entrepreneurship promotion, and community empowerment, while also preserving Bastar’s tribal heritage and cultural identity.

It provides special incentives for projects over ₹1,000 crore or creating more than 1,000 jobs, prioritising pharmaceuticals, agro-processing, textiles, IT & digital tech, advanced electronics, aerospace & defence, and Global Capability Centres. Tourism has been given industry status, with subsidies up to 45% for hotels, eco-tourism, wellness centres, adventure sports, and sports facilities.

With 88% of Bastar blocks classified as Group-3, investors will enjoy maximum benefits.

Inclusivity has been built into the policy: SC/ST entrepreneurs and Naxal-affected individuals/families will receive an additional 10% subsidy. An innovative feature grants 40% wage subsidy (up to ₹5 lakh per year for five years) to firms employing surrendered Naxals.

Woman entrepreneur Ragini Jaiswal launches fitness & nutrition venture using local products

Raipur : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the initiative to take industrial development to the remote areas of Bastar division — considered the most potential region for growth — has now begun to yield visible results. Six months ago, CM Vishnu Deo Sai had engaged in dialogue with industrialists, businessmen, budding entrepreneurs and youth associated with startups, keeping in mind the immense possibilities of industrial growth in Bastar.

As a result of these consistent efforts, approval letters for investment proposals worth nearly ₹1,000 crore were handed over to investors during the ‘Chhattisgarh Investor Connect Bastar’ programme held in Jagdalpur on Thursday.

Among the beneficiaries are young woman entrepreneur Ragini Jaiswal from Kondagaon district and local entrepreneur Sohail Rizvi from the Maoist-affected Bijapur district, who have accepted the challenge of creating self-employment opportunities in these remote regions. A year ago, Kondagaon-based Ragini benefitted from the Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Processing Scheme and established a fitness and nutrition unit based on local products. Through this, she has been providing healthy food to pregnant and lactating mothers as well as children. She availed financial assistance of ₹9.53 lakh under the scheme, which included a 35% grant component.

Meanwhile, Sohail Rizvi, a young entrepreneur from Geedam in Dantewada district, is setting up a modern rice mill in Bijapur. The capacity of this rice mill will be six tonnes per hour, with an investment of about ₹6 crore. The project will also receive a grant of ₹90 lakh from the government. Once operational, the rice mill is expected to provide direct and indirect employment to 50–60 people in the region.

Ragini explains that being part of a traditional rural family and a native of Bastar, she has in-depth knowledge of local forest produce, organic farm products and herbs, along with a clear understanding of the daily food habits and nutritional needs of Bastar’s residents. With her inclination towards food processing, she decided to begin her startup by focusing on maternal and child nutrition.

She now manufactures her own products in Kondagaon and is moving towards self-reliance through a ‘Healthy Food Corner’. Ragini also shared that her 10-member family, including her parents and two brothers, inspires and supports her journey. She feels proud to be self-employed and vows to remain dedicated to providing essential nutritional services in Bastar.

Sohail, on the other hand, comes from a family with entrepreneurial roots. His father had set up a rice mill in Geedam 17 years ago. After completing his education, Sohail decided to take this family business forward. He has now given shape to the plan of establishing this new enterprise in Bijapur. Alongside this, Sohail is also running a fly ash brick business worth ₹3 crore, reflecting his entrepreneurial vision. The rice mill is not only expected to boost the local economy but will also create new employment opportunities in the area.

The initiatives of young entrepreneurs like Ragini and Sohail Rizvi are early, yet impactful, outcomes of the government’s safe, transparent and attractive new industrial policy. Their ventures will prove to be milestones in the future of local industries and employment generation in Bastar.

India Will Be Free from Naxalism by March 2026: CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Valour of security forces and people’s trust have become the strength of Naxal elimination: CM Sai

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the CRPF’s Cobra Commandos, Chhattisgarh Police and DRG personnel for their major success on the Naxal front in Gariaband and Narayanpur districts.

In the encounter that took place in Gariaband district, as many as 10 Naxalites have been neutralised so far. Among them is Modem Balakrishna alias Manoj, a Central Committee Member carrying a reward of ₹1 crore. This is being seen as a historic achievement in the campaign to eliminate Naxalism.

In the same sequence, Naxalites in Narayanpur district have also chosen the path of surrender. A total of 16 Naxalites — including a Janatana Sarkar member, a Panchayat Militia Deputy Commander, a Panchayat Sarkar member and the head of the Judicial Branch — have surrendered and pledged to return to the mainstream of society.

Chief Minister Sai said these incidents are clear proof that the false ideology of Naxalites is now collapsing. “A new dawn of trust, development and peace is rising in Chhattisgarh. With the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, we are confident that the resolve of a ‘Naxal-Free India’ will be realised by March 2026,” he stated.

Budget of Central Region Tribal Development Authority raised from ₹50 crore to ₹75 crore

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today chaired the meeting of the Central Region Tribal Development Authority at the Korba Collectorate meeting hall. Addressing the gathering, he said that this was the first meeting of the Authority after its reconstitution, being held with a renewed resolve and vision. Chief Minister Shri Sai assured that the government is taking all concrete measures for the welfare and holistic development of tribal communities, and that there would be no shortage of resources for development works.

Announcing a major step, CM Sai declared that the budget of the Authority has been increased from ₹50 crore to ₹75 crore for the better development of Scheduled Tribe communities residing in the Central Region.

Restructuring of Authorities to Ensure Accountability and Transparency

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Chhattisgarh government has taken a strong step towards inclusive development by forming the Bastar, Surguja and Central Region Tribal Development Authorities, along with the Scheduled Caste Development Authority and the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Development Authority. He said that the primary aim of these bodies is to accelerate development works in tribal areas, ensure transparency, and deliver public services to every village and every family.

Pointing out lapses of the previous government, Shri Sai said that lack of accountability and transparency had marred the functioning of these authorities. Many schemes failed to reach the ground due to poor monitoring. To change this situation, the present government has restructured the authorities. Membership has been broadened to include Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs from the region, district panchayat chairpersons and other important public representatives. Additionally, two social workers and experts working in the field of tribal development have been nominated as members so that their experience and expertise can benefit development planning.

PM Janman Scheme Opening New Opportunities

Chief Minister Shri Sai further said that special focus is being given to education, healthcare and livelihood schemes for tribal communities. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Dharti Aba Tribal Village Utkarsh Abhiyan and PM Janman Yojana have opened up new avenues of development in tribal areas of Chhattisgarh. These initiatives are rapidly strengthening infrastructure such as housing, roads, electricity, drinking water and digital connectivity.

He added that women’s empowerment in the Central Region was a key priority. Self-Help Groups are being further strengthened with skill training, credit facilities and market linkages, enabling women to become self-reliant. For the youth of the region, technical and vocational training will be provided to prepare them for both employment and self-employment opportunities.

Preserving Tribal Culture and Tradition

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that Chhattisgarh’s tribal culture is rich and must be preserved. He emphasized that the Authority will play a key role in ensuring nutrition, health and education for children of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). He suggested setting up de-addiction centres to inspire tribal communities to give up alcohol, promoting early education and sports, and ensuring permanent pump connections for irrigation in the farms of PVTG farmers.

CM’s Commitment Reflected in Korba Meeting

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao remarked that the Chief Minister himself, as Chairman of the Central Region Tribal Development Authority, had come to Korba along with the entire government to hold this meeting. Notably, such a meeting was last held on November 30, 2019. Holding it in a Scheduled Area demonstrates the CM’s commitment.

Vice-Chairman of the Authority, Shri Pranav Kumar Marpachchi, said that the enhanced budget allocation would significantly boost development works in tribal-dominated areas.

Boost to Education, Sports, Tourism and Irrigation

CM Sai announced several major initiatives to nurture the talents of tribal children and youth. He sanctioned ₹10 crore each for the construction and operation of boys’ and girls’ sports complexes in Korba. Similarly, ₹10 crore each was sanctioned for two more sports complexes dedicated to PVTG players. He also announced ₹5 crore for the establishment of a residential school for PVTG students.

Infrastructure and Tourism Development

To streamline traffic movement in Korba city, Chief Minister Shri Sai announced ₹9 crore for the construction of the Sunalia Bridge. He instructed Forest Department officials to expedite work on the Buka-Satrenga tourism project and directed them to submit a report within two months.

On irrigation, CM Sai informed that ₹2,800 crore has been sanctioned to complete 115 pending irrigation projects that had been left incomplete prior to 2015. Once completed, these projects will provide irrigation facilities to about 76,000 hectares of land.

Under the Central Region Tribal Development Authority, a total of 544 development works worth ₹32.67 crore were sanctioned in 2021-22, of which 539 have been completed. In 2022-23, of the 491 works worth ₹32.72 crore, 482 have been completed. In 2023-24, of 464 works worth ₹32.67 crore, 424 have been completed. In 2024-25, of 508 works worth ₹48.28 crore, 123 have been completed, with the rest in progress. Chief Minister Shri Sai instructed that all pending works be completed at the earliest.
