Mumbai: In a massive crackdown on ticketless passengers travelling in the Mumbai local on a daily basis, the Central Railway has initiated surprise ticket checking drills at various stations. On Monday, a team of 167 ticket checkers stormed the Kalyan railway station since morning 7 am. Their combined efforts resulted in the collection of penalty worth Rs 16.85 lakh for the Central Railway.

The whooping sum of amount was collected as fine from a total of 4438 ticketless travellers. On an average, 27 violators were held by each of the 167 ticket checkers and an average sum of Rs 10,095 was collected by each TTE during the drill. The ticket checking staff was provided help by 35 RPF staff who were deputed in order to handle the violators.

Visuals of the massive ticket checking drive at the Kalyan railway station were shared by the Central Railway on their official handle on the social media platform, X. The post was captioned as, "You're hiding from us again... and we're waiting for you at the station again!"

"All passengers are requested to travel only with proper ticket and travel with respect," wrote Central Railway sharing details of the successful ticket checking drill.

Central Railways officials had made it clear that these surprise ticket checking operations will continue in the future to ensure that passengers adhere to ticketing regulations and promote responsible travel. The crackdown on ticketless travel remains a top priority for the railway authorities in their ongoing efforts to maintain bonafide passengers comfort and revenue integrity.

As the raging Hamas-Israel conflict marked a week on Saturday, the Jewish nation’s military on Saturday said that it struck a Hezbollah target in southern Lebanon after one of its drones was fired on.

In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the move was in response “the infiltration of unidentified aerial objects into Israel and fire on an IDF UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle)”, CNN reported.

According to the IDF, the two “unidentified aerial objects” were intercepted above the northern city of Haifa, which is close to the Lebanese border.

The Forces added that it intercepted both the aerial objects and the fire.

In an earlier statement, the Israeli military said the “infiltration of an unidentified object” took place near the city of Shfar’am in northern Israel.

In recent days, Israeli forces have exchanged rocket fire with Hezbollah, the BBC reported.

The Lebanese group, which is backed by Iran with a strong military and political presence in Lebanon, has been designated a terrorist organisation by the UK, US and other countries.

KABUL, Afghanistan, Oct 11 (Reuters) - A strong earthquake rattled Afghanistan's western province of Herat on Wednesday, forcing authorities to redeploy relief and rescue teams already in the field following a series of deadly quakes on Saturday.

There were no details on casualties so far, disaster management spokesman Janan Sayeeq told Reuters, but provincial officials said hundreds of homes had been destroyed.

The office of Herat's governor said some areas had suffered "huge losses", without giving details.

"Mobile medical teams and officials have been working together and have transferred several injured people to hospital," the governor's office said in a statement.

Saturday's tremors killed at least 2,400 people and injured more than 2,000, the Taliban-run government said, making the quakes one of the deadliest in the world so far this year.

Most of the casualties in that quake were women and children, the World Health Organisation said.

The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said the latest quake was a magnitude 6.3, and occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).

Hemmed in by mountains, Afghanistan has a history of strong earthquakes, many in the rugged Hindu Kush region bordering Pakistan. Herat province borders Iran, which said it would send humanitarian aid.

In the central district of Rubat Sangi, which was rattled by Saturday's quakes, at least 200 homes were partially or completely destroyed, Governor Noor Ahmad Shahab said, adding that residents had suffered "huge financial losses".

Greater Noida, India, September 16, 2023 - The Gautam Buddha University (GBU) in collaboration with International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), is proud to announce the celebration of the International Abhidhamma Divas, marking the descent of the Buddha from the celestial realm. This auspicious event is scheduled to take place on the full moon day of Śharada Pūrṇimā, October 28, 2023, at the GBU campus in Greater Noida. This year's celebration holds special significance as it coincides with the Centenary Year of Vipassanā Ācārya Dr. Satya Narayan Goenka.

Shri Abhijit Halder, Director General, IBC said that the International Abhidhamma Divas, the third Flagship program of the IBC, commemorates the day when the Buddha descended from the celestial domain of the thirty-three divine beings to Sankassiya (presently known as Sankisa Basantapur, Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh). The significance of this event is documented by the Aśokan Elephant Pillar, signifying its importance. The Buddha is believed to have taught the Abhidhamma to the Devas and his mother before his descent, making it a pivotal moment in Buddhist history.

Furthermore, this year's celebration coincides with the end of the Rainy Retreat and the Pavāraņā festival, adding to its spiritual significance.

The ‘Rajiv Yuva Mitan Sammelan’ was held at Mela Ground in Nava Raipur on Saturday. MP Mr. Rahul Gandhi attended the event as Chief Guest. He stated that the Chhattisgarh Government, led by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, has fulfilled every promise made to Chhattisgarh's public. The state has witnessed significant achievements, including the waiver of farmers' loans and a 50% reduction in electricity bills. The Chhattisgarh Government is also providing the highest minimum support price (MSP) for paddy, making it the top choice for paddy growers across India if ranking them in a list. "We have honoured our pledges made to the people wherever we've gone", he further stated.

During the event, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel declared the discontinuation of the stipend system in state government appointments. Mr. Rahul Gandhi honoured the exemplary efforts of Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club members from various divisions. Newly recruited teachers received their appointment letters. They unveiled a table book titled "Vaade se Zyada" (Delivered More Than What Was Promised), published by Chhattisgarh's Public Relations Department.

In a conference marked by a remarkable presence of youth, Mr. Rahul Gandhi stated that the state government has a focus on job creation in Chhattisgarh. He highlighted his discussions with Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, stressing the importance of utilising the diverse skills in the state to create unique products in each district. Mr. Baghel stated that the state government has an ambitious target of generating 10 to 12 lakh jobs in the next five years, emphasising the state government's commitment to better employment opportunities. A recent survey by India Today revealed that an impressive 59.1 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with his performance in the state. This marks a significant increase in his popularity compared to the previous year's survey, where he scored 55.7 percent for his work. The India Today Group conducted this survey among citizens across the nation to evaluate the performance of their own CM within the state. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel's growing popularity is evident, with 59.1 percent of respondents showing confidence in his government's functioning. Notably, the previous year's survey reported 53.3 percent satisfaction with his work, showcasing a consistent upward trajectory in public opinion.

The Chhattisgarh Government has made significant strides in poverty alleviation, with 40 lakh individuals in the state alleviated out of multidimensional poverty over the past 4.5 years. The various NYAY schemes launched in the state have played a pivotal role in this achievement, effectively targeting poverty eradication. Such schemes, including the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana, Godhan NYAY Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhumiheen Krishi Majdoor NYAY Yojana, Unemployment Allowance schemes, and Rajiv Mitan Club, have directly benefited villagers, farmers, cattle herders, women, youth, and forest produce collectors throughout the state. The state government has distributed an impressive total of Rs. 1.75 lakh crore to beneficiaries of various schemes. This substantial investment has brought about tangible improvements in the lives of the state's people, fostering economic prosperity and well-being.

NYAY schemes, launched by the Chhattisgarh Government, have yielded impressive economic growth, with per capita income hiking from Rs. 88,793 to Rs. 1,33,898 in the last 4.5 years. The state's GSDP has experienced a remarkable increase from Rs. 3,27,106 crore to Rs. 5,09,043 crore during this period, marking a 56 percent expansion in the economy's size. Remarkably, despite two consecutive years of economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic starting in March 2020, Chhattisgarh has managed to achieve this growth. In the fiscal year 2022–23, Chhattisgarh's growth rates in agriculture, industry, and the service sector significantly outpaced the national averages, underscoring the state's robust economic performance.

Chhattisgarh, with agriculture as its backbone and supporting the livelihoods of approximately 74 percent of its population, has witnessed remarkable strides in the last 4.5 years under the state government's pro-agriculture initiatives. These policies have invigorated the farming community, increasing their dedication to agriculture.

Notably, Chhattisgarh has ensured fair prices for farmers' produce, particularly paddy, making it the sole state in India where farmers receive the highest minimum support price rates. In addition to procuring paddy at support prices, the state government is also providing an input subsidy of Rs 9,000 per acre to farmers cultivating Kharif crops under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana. Since the inception of this scheme in 2019–20, the state government has distributed nearly Rs. 22,000 crore to farmers through direct benefit transfers into their bank accounts, further bolstering the state's agricultural sector and farmer well-being.

Chhattisgarh's Government initiatives, including the Suraji Gaon Yojana, Narva, Garuva, Ghurva, Bari Development Program, and Godhan NYAY Yojana, have significantly boosted financial self-reliance and rural economic vitality. The Narva Development Program alone has treated around 14,000 canals, aiding water conservation and elevating groundwater levels. This, in turn, has led to improved irrigation facilities and expanded double-crop farming areas. The Garuva Program has played a pivotal role in livestock preservation and enhancement, resulting in increased income from animal husbandry. Additionally, the Ghurva and Bari Development Program has fostered organic farming and enhanced nutritional standards across the state, further contributing to the well-being of the populace.

Chhattisgarh's Government has ushered in a multifaceted approach to employment and self-reliance through its innovative Godhan NYAY Yojana. This scheme, offering state government procurement of cow dung at Rs 2 per kg and cow urine at Rs 4 per litre, has become a lucrative source of supplementary income for rural cattle farmers. The utilisation of these resources has led to the production of vermicompost, organic pesticides, Brahmastra, Jeevamrit, and natural paint, all of which contribute to increased income for the people. Over 12,000 self-help groups (SHGs) comprising two lakh women have embraced diverse income sources through their association with Gauthans, empowering them economically and enhancing their financial independence.

The Chhattisgarh Government has launched several schemes to improve healthcare services in the state and make them more people-centric. These schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana, Dai-Didi Clinic Yojana, Dr. Khubchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana, Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Yojana, and Shri Dhanvantari Medical Store Scheme, have provided significant relief to the people. The Chhattisgarh Government's initiatives, such as the Half Bijli Bill Yojana and providing electricity to farmers' irrigation pumps at a subsidised rate, have also contributed to approximately Rs. 15,000 crore in savings on electricity bills.

To improve the living standards of forest dwellers in remote forest regions, the standard rate for tendupatta collection has been increased from ₹2,500 to ₹4,000 per standard bag. Additionally, successful efforts have been made to increase the income of forest dwellers through the procurement of 67 minor forest produce in the MSP and their value addition. Through the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhumiheen Krishi Majdoor NYAY Yojana, the state has provided annual assistance of Rs. 7,000 to nearly 6 lakh families. The Rajiv Gandhi Mitan Clubs have played a significant role in creating awareness among people in villages about government schemes and programs, resulting in positive outcomes. This has also contributed to lifting people out of poverty.

The Chhattisgarh Government's farmer-centric policies have yielded remarkable results, with the number of farmers selling paddy at support prices surging from 12 lakh to over 24 lakh. Simultaneously, paddy production has skyrocketed from 55 lakh metric tonnes to an impressive 107 lakh metric tonnes. Over the past 4.5 years, the state has witnessed a doubling in both the number of paddy-selling farmers and paddy production. Furthermore, the area dedicated to paddy cultivation has expanded from 24 lakh 46 thousand hectares to 31 lakh 17 thousand hectares.

The state government's proactive approach is evident in the increase in Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) from 1,333 to 2,058. Notably, Chhattisgarh has accorded agricultural status to diverse sectors, including fish farming, lac cultivation, silk farming, and beekeeping. Initiatives such as the Millet Mission, support prices for Kodu-Kutki and Ragi, and input subsidies of Rs 9,000 per acre for millet producers in remote forest areas have substantially boosted earning levels for millet farmers in the state.

The Chhattisgarh Government's farmer-friendly and welfare-oriented policies have brought tremendous prosperity in both urban and rural areas, leading to an increase in Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel's popularity. The robust rural economy has also contributed to the prosperity of the urban economy. Moreover, the state government's efforts to improve civic amenities have created a better environment in urban areas, which reflects positively on Mr. Bhupesh Baghel's popularity. A significant aspect is that Mr. Bhupesh Baghel consistently speaks about the pride of Chhattisgarh, resonating with the people. He communicates in a way that aligns with the interests of the public, which is boosting his popularity. In a survey conducted by India Today, the Chief Minister of Odisha holds first place in the survey, and the Chief Minister of Delhi is in third place. Addressing STATECON-2023, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel highlighted the Chhattisgarh Government's efforts and their consistent practical decisions for public welfare. The state government has filled the people’s pockets with the distribution of around Rs. 1.6 lakh crore through various public-welfare schemes, fostering growth across various sectors. He further shared that, post-lockdown, Chhattisgarh led the nation in restarting industries and factories. The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana aided farmers and MNREGA labourers even during tough COVID times. Unlike other states, government officials and employees received full salaries, avoiding cuts. This financial empowerment across classes catalysed increased trade and business activity, benefiting the real estate sector as well.

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel highlighted the impact of a 30 percent reduction in land guideline rates, which spurred investment in buying and selling land and amplified revenue generation. The flexibility in small plot registrations and the reduced guideline rates contributed to an increase in revenue from Rs. 1,100 crore to Rs. 1,500 crore. He underlined the significance of the real estate sector in India's economy, acknowledging its slowdown due to demonetization, the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent lockdowns. The Chhattisgarh Government's strategic decisions emerged as a remedy, revitalising the real estate sector and protecting it from economic devastation. The sector recovered swiftly, leaving recessionary trends behind. CM Mr. Baghel announced impending projects like Aero City and the Wholesale Corridor in Raipur, aimed at bolstering local trade and commerce. During the program, responding to CREDAI's request, the Chief Minister addressed the need for coloniser licences post-implementation of the RERA Acts in the state. He also discussed formulating guidelines for rural real estate akin to those in urban areas, underscoring the government's commitment to fostering equitable development across regions.

Speaking at STATECON-2023, Housing and Environment Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar praised Chhattisgarh's natural resources, including minerals, forests, fertile land, and the availability of low-cost electricity. Under Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel's leadership, the state is progressing and achieving new milestones every year. The state government has implemented various decisions to boost the real estate sector. Mr. Akbar urged CREDAI to provide a plan for realising affordable housing for low-income individuals.

The Chhattisgarh Government, led by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, has realized the aspirations of former Prime Minister Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. The state government has made a commitment to enhance the quality of life for all societal sectors, classes, and communities. This endeavour truly stands as a tribute to Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. Member of Parliament, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, conveyed this sentiment in her video message during a program held in Mahasamund district to commemorate the birth anniversary of the late Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi.

During the program, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel released an amount of Rs. 2,055.60 crore to beneficiaries of various state government schemes. Additionally, he dedicated 224 development projects worth Rs. 704 crore in the Mahasamund district. He announced the formation of 18 new tehsils and 13 new sub-divisional offices. He also announced to upgrade the Mahasamund Municipal Council to a Municipal Corporation and the Gram Panchayat Bhoring to a Nagar Panchayat. He also announced the construction of composite buildings in Mahasamund in next year's budget.

Mrs. Gandhi emphasised in her video message that maintaining agricultural progress is essential for poverty alleviation. The Chhattisgarh Government's resolute actions are turning Rajiv Gandhi's aspirations into reality, elevating the economic status of numerous farmers, and instilling hope and happiness. She commended the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana for providing not only subsidies but also exemplary decisions for farmer welfare, setting a benchmark for other states. These decisions have increased production and led to an unprecedented rise in farmers' income. Notably, the state government has also launched the Rajiv Gandhi Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor NYAY Yojana for agricultural labourers, ensuring economic assistance and support.

Recalling Mr.Rajiv Gandhi's vision, Mrs. Gandhi shared that Rajiv Ji believed India is an old country but a young nation. She highlighted his aspiration for a strong, self-reliant India to lead globally and serve humanity. She shared that, according to Rajiv Ji, a robust India requires empowered farmers; their strength bolsters the nation's self-reliance and independence. Rajiv Ji's unwavering connection with farmers underscored his belief that farmer's progress determines the country's progress.

Chhattisgarh Government alleviated 40 lakh individuals from poverty in five years*

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel shared that recent NITI Aayog data revealed that the Chhattisgarh Government has alleviated 40 lakh individuals from poverty in five years. According to the report, there is a 23-25% poverty reduction in Kabirdham, Surguja, and Dantewada districts. Districts like Raipur, Dhamtari, and Balod now have poverty rates below 10%. Mr. Baghel shared that the state government has made consistent efforts to address the issue of poverty, and now these efforts have shown a positive impact, as evidenced by the NITI Aayog’s report.

The Chief Minister attributed these achievements to the NYAY Yojana’ for farmers, labourers, and tribals, bolstering the rural economy and enhancing education and health infrastructure. He stressed the pivotal role of empowered farmers in strengthening the economy. Notably, the paddy procurement system has been enhanced, ensuring timely payments to farmers and reflecting the state government's commitment to their welfare. Urban infrastructure expansion also played a key role in these advancements.

Addressing the people present, the Chief Minister emphasised the state government's versatile health schemes, such as the Dr. Khubchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana (providing up to Rs. 5 lakh for treatment) and the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Sahayata Yojana (offering up to Rs. 25 lakh for serious ailments). Illustrating their efficacy, he shared the case of a poor family whose child received treatment worth Rs. 19 lakh for a lung ailment. He highlighted the administration's commitment to quality healthcare and support systems. He shared that previously the state had only 6 medical colleges, which have expanded to 10 recently, and the state government has decided to open 4 more medical colleges, totaling 14 medical colleges in the state.

Ration facilities have been extended to 74 lakh ration card holders, while 42 lakh families benefit from the ‘Bijli Bill Half Yojana’. The state government has established 377 English-medium and 349 Hindi-medium schools under the Swami Atmanand Excellent School Scheme to improve the quality of education. The state government has also prioritised the preservation of cultural heritage in the state. The Ram Van Gaman Path has been established, which is dedicated to Lord Shri Ram and showcases the state's natural beauty. Kaushalya Mata's temple has garnered national and international attention, contributing to cultural preservation. The Chief Minister concluded by applauding the government's commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage, facilitating healthcare, and fostering education.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has released online an amount of Rs. 2055.6 crore to the beneficiaries, that include cattle rearers, farmers, labourers, and villagers, of various schemes in a program organised in Mahasamund district on August 20. He has distributed Rs. 1810 crore as the second installment of the "Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana" to beneficiaries. After the distribution of this amount, the input subsidy amount to 24.30 lakh farmers under this scheme has reached Rs. 21,912 crore in the state. Similarly, he has distributed Rs. 168.63 crore as the second installment of the 'Rajiv Gandhi Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor NYAY Yojana, and after this, the total amount distributed to 5.6 lakh beneficiaries has reached Rs. 758.03 crore. He has released an amount of Rs. 66.21 crore to Rajiv Yuva Mitan (RYM) clubs. The 13,242 RYM Clubs have received Rs. 132.48 crore to engage youth in creative pursuits. Furthermore, he has distributed Rs. 9.65 crore to beneficiaries of the 'Godhan NYAY Yojana'. After the distribution of this amount, a total of Rs. 551.31 crore has been distributed to women's SHGs, Gauthan committees, and villagers in the state. State's farmers received an input subsidy of Rs 20,103 crore so far

The birth anniversary of the late Bharat Ratna Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi will be observed on August 20 and to mark his birth anniversary, the state government will distribute the second installment of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY’ Yojana, amounting to Rs 1,894.93 crore, to the beneficiaries. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel will virtually transfer the amount to 24,52,592 farmers' bank accounts in an event that will be held in the Mahasamund district on August 20. The scheme, aiming to assist farmers, will further provide subsequent instalments of approximately Rs 4,000 crore in October and March.

Allocating Rs 6,800 crore for the ongoing fiscal year, the Chhattisgarh Government anticipates an approximate outlay of Rs 8,000 crore for input subsidies under the scheme. This projection considered the substantial count of registered farmers, cultivated land, and paddy procurement from the previous Kharif season. Beneficiaries of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana cover the farmers who indulge in the cultivation of paddy, kodo-kutki, ragi, pulses, oilseeds, other non-paddy crops, and tree-planting farmers.

The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana was launched to reduce input agricultural expenses and encourage crop diversification. It offers a Rs 9,000 per acre input subsidy to Kharif crop cultivators. Launched in the 2019 Kharif season, the state government has distributed a total of Rs 20,103 crore as input subsidies to the farmers. Adding the upcoming second installment in this fiscal year, the cumulative figure will reach Rs 21,997.96 crore.

Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana, 18.43 lakh paddy cultivators have received an amount of Rs 5627.02 crore as an input subsidy, at the rate of Rs 10 thousand per acre, during the Kharif Season 2019, while during the Kharif Season 2020, 20.59 lakh paddy cultivators have received an amount of Rs 5553.08 crore as an input subsidy into their bank accounts.

In the year 2021, the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana has expanded its scope to encompass all Kharif and horticulture crops, granting productive farmers an annual input subsidy of Rs 9,000 per acre. Moreover, in the 2020–21 period, a provision of Rs 10,000 per acre was extended for cultivating non-paddy crops, horticulture, or tree planting in regions where paddy was previously sold at the minimum support price. In the 2021 Kharif season, an input subsidy of Rs 7,028 crore was distributed to 23.35 lakh farmers cultivating crops other than paddy, and horticulture crops, directly into their bank accounts.

Chhattisgarh's agriculture received a significant boost from the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan NYAY Yojana, as farmers benefit from input subsidies. The scheme sparks a renewed interest in farming; farmers who once gave up farming are now taking the profession back. The number of farmers selling paddy in the state has witnessed a surge of over 11 lakh as compared to 2017-18, while procurement has doubled. Record paddy procurement has been consistently achieved since 2018–19. Chhattisgarh now ranks second nationwide in contributing to the Central Pool with its paddy supply. Remarkably, the state leads the nation in terms of farmers selling paddy at support prices, showcasing its agricultural prominence.

On the glorious occasion of the 76th anniversary of India's independence, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel hoisted the national flag at the police parade ground of capital city Raipur today. In his address to the public, Mr. Baghel extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on Independence Day. On this occasion, Chief Minister announced that 'Chhattisgarh Sahitya Akademi Samman' will be bestowed in three categories. The literature written in Chhattisgarhi and other dialects like Gondi, Halbi, Surgujia have been classified under under the first category, Hindi poetry under the second category and Hindi prose has been included under the third category. Awardees in the aforementioned categories will be awarded Rs five lakh cash and the letters of appreciation. Moreover, Chief Minister has also announced that those accused of molestation, rape etc. will be banned from the government jobs. Mr. Baghel has announced that the participants who have secured first place in the Chhattisgarhia Olympic state-level competitions of long jump, 100 meter race and wrestling in the age group of 18 to 40 years will be declared as 'Excellent Sportsperson", this provision will be applicable from this session. Silkworm rearing and bee keeping have been given the status of agriculture. 'Poultry Farming Promotion Scheme' was commenced to promote poultry farming. Under this scheme, poultry farmers will be provided electricity at a subsidized rate. For the preparation of engineering and medical competitive examinations, the students of class 11th and 12th in government schools of all the development block headquarters of the state will be provided the facility of online coaching with renowned institutions of the country. At least one college in every district shall have the facility of post-graduate classes. In the same sequence, Government has granted the status of 'post graduate colleges' to Lochan Prasad Pandey College, Sarangarh, Dr. Bhanwar Singh Porte College, Pendra, Krantikumar Bharti College, Sakti, LCS College, Ambagarh Chowki. Necessary new subjects and post-graduate structure will be made available here at the earliest.

Subjects of latest technology such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Internet of Things will be included in the curriculum of school from the next academic session. Free bus transport facility will be made available to the students of government colleges for commuting from home to college. From the next session, Chhattisgarhi language and local dialect of tribal areas will be included as a subject in the syllabus from class I to class V. Mr. Baghel has also announced 20 percent increase in the honorarium of Shahri Swachchhta Didi and community organisers. Under Mukhyamantri Nirman Shramik Pension Sahayata Yojana, the construction workers, who have completed 60 years and have been registered for 10 years, will be provided a monthly pension of Rs 1500 every month for life. Announcement has been made to increase the lump sum salary of contractual training officers working in ITIs from Rs 25,780 to Rs 32,740, and the limit of maximum payment per month to guest lecturers has been increased from Rs 13,000 to Rs 15,000. Moreover, a hike of Rs 500 per month in the honorarium of part-time sweepers and mid-day meal cooks who contribute to education facilities in Chhattisgarh has been announced.

In his Independence Day message to the people, Chief Minister said that from the intense struggle for freedom, came the nectar of justice and democracy in India. In fact, it was the fight to free humanity from various kinds of atrocities and injustice, which inspired the whole world.

Chief Minister further said that a new era of prosperity has ushered in Chhattisgarh, as a result of our consolidated efforts to fulfill the resolution we had taken to build a 'Nava Chhattisgarh'. From the forest areas to the towns, villages and cities, every part of the state has undergone a positive transformation. Taking into consideration the interest and welfare of various sections of the society, we have provided more than 1 lakh 60 thousand crore rupees in the bank accounts of the people under various schemes. Our 'Chhattisgarh model' of development has brought new rays of hope for the people of the state and has also been successful in giving a new direction to the country. The martyrdom of thousands of great personas such as Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Ramprasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Rani Laxmibai, Rani Avantibai Lodhi will continue to inspire us to make the supreme sacrifice for the country. We are fortunate that many great leaders who led the freedom struggle also continued to lead the development of the 'Independent India'. I aim to inspire the new generation with the glorious legacy of sacrifice and contribution of our forefathers. Chief Minister said that the rights and freedom bestowed upon us by the Constitution of India is for every Indian, and our freedom makes sense only when every person gets to enjoy their rights. The country can be made strong only by empowering every state and every citizen of the country. This is the reason why we have resolved to provide justice to every person and every section in Chhattisgarh.

"NYAY" schemes connecting hearts

Chief Minister said that our 'NYAY' schemes are having a direct impact on various sections of the society, bringing them together, connecting their hearts. We have taken major decisions to make life easier for farmers, villagers, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes, minority groups, women, youth, children, etc.

Paddy Procurement, Now 20 quintals per acre

Chief Minister said that not only the farmers but the entire state and the country is aware that we have kept all the promises we made to the farmers. As soon as the government was formed, we waived off the short-term agricultural loans of about Rs 9,000 crore, procured paddy for Rs 2500 per quintal, we increased the quantity of paddy procured on support price from about 56 lakh metric tons to 107 lakh metric tons. The effective implementation of our decisions enhanced the confidence of people on our government. The number of farmers selling paddy has increased from 12 lakh 60 thousand to about 25 lakh. The number of paddy procurement centers has been increased from 1 thousand 989 to 2 thousand 617. We are firm on our promise that in the upcoming Kharif season, 20 quintals of paddy per acre will be procured from the farmers of Chhattisgarh at support price. To provide interest-free loans to the farmers, the number of Primary Agricultural Credit Committees has been increased from 1 thousand 333 to 2 thousand 58. The amount of agriculture loan has been increased from Rs 3 thousand 546 crore to Rs 7 thousand crore. An amount of Rs 342 crore was waived off the outstanding irrigation tax of the farmers.

Input subsidy of Rs 20 thousand crore provided to the farmers

Through 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana', farmers were provided an amount of more than 20 thousand crore rupees as input subsidy for cultivation of paddy as well as other food grains, millets, horticulture crops, tree plantation etc. Rs 208 crore was given as sugarcane incentive amount. Our government is procuring Kodo, Kutki and Ragi at support price.

Procurement of millet for the first time on support price

Chief Minister said that for the first time in the state, we have procured about 94 thousand quintals of millet crops. The promise of purchasing pulses on support price has also been fulfilled. This will boost the production of lentils and pulses in the state. Our government has taken several steps to promote various kinds of farming methos and a wide array of crops. Lac rearing and fishery have been given the status of agriculture. Tea plantation is being done over 102 acres in Jashpur district and coffee plantation in 80 acres of land in Bastar district. Chhattisgarh Tea-Coffee Board has been constituted for this purpose. Under the 'Poshanbadi' scheme, 4 lakh badis have been developed. 'Betel Research Centre' has been established in Chhuikhadan.

Providing better facilities to the farmers

To provide better facilities to the farmers, as many as 587 Krishak Sadan and Kisan Kutir have been established in the state, fruit-vegetable market has been established in Dhamdha, community seed bank has been set up in Jagdalpur, Kanker and Dhamtari, high-level phytosanitary laboratory has been set up in Indira Gandhi Agricultural University to promote export of agricultural products. Moreover, 6 new agriculture colleges, 11 horticulture colleges, one forestry college and one food technology college i.e. a total of 19 new colleges and Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University have been established in the state.

Expansion of irrigation facilities

Chief Minister said that we have kept our promise by implementing the Water Resources Development Policy 2022. Due to better irrigation management, an additional Kharif irrigation facility has been made available in 2 lakh 50 thousand hectares of area in the year 2022-23, as compared the year 2018. In the last 4 years, 1 thousand 36 works of irrigation projects have been approved, and more than Rs 4 thousand 451 crore has been sanctioned for the same. Irrigation capacity has been expanded in 2 lakh 36 thousand 338 hectare area. Keeping the promise of conservation of rivers, 'Arpa Basin Development Authority' and 'Indravati Basin Development Authority' have been constituted. Ddam rehabilitation and improvement plan is also being implemented.

Gauthans are boosting the rural economy

Chief Minister said that our 'Suraaji Gaon Yojana' has been appreciated across the country and abroad for its effectiveness in development of villages and agriculture, in improving the environment and in creating livelihood opportunities. Thousands of Narva have been treated under this scheme, which has resulted in rapid increase o the ground water level. More than 1 lakh acres of land has been preserved in the state for Gauthans. More than 7 thousand pastures were approved. Various economic activities have been started in more than 10 thousand gauthans, out of which about 6 thousand gauthans have become self-supporting.

With the implementation of Ghuruva chapter of Suraaji Gaon Yojana and the Godhan NYAY Yojana, a new era of economic revolution has ushered in rural areas of the state. In Chhattisgarh, chemical fertilizers are being gradually replaced with the organic manure and pesticides made of the cow dung and urine (Gaumutra) procured from farmers and cattle rearers. The economic activities of Gauthans have also generated income of more than Rs 500 crore for the people involved, especially those associated with women self-help groups. Similarly, about 5 lakh private enclosures (Bari) and about 6 thousand community enclosures (Bari) have been developed under the Bari programme.

We have promoted animal husbandry through 'Godhan Nyay Yojana', and have also made comprehensive arrangements for catte healthcare. 45 new veterinary dispensaries have been established and 20 veterinary dispensaries have been upgraded. 163 mobile veterinary units, state-level call centers and societies have been established in 28 districts save cattle from violence.

300 new RIPA established

We have pioneered the revolution of rural industries through 'Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park' (RIPA). 300 RIPAs have been set up in various districts of the state, wherein more than 1 thousand 300 industries are operating and about 11 thousand people have got direct employment. On the lines of RIPA, 'Mahatma Gandhi Urban Industrial Park' is also being constructed in the urban bodies.

Selection of land for food park

We have also kept the promise of developing food parks for preservation and processing of agricultural products. Land has been earmarked in 112 development blocks and 63 cold storages have been set up for horticulture crops. Moreover, 'Integrated Pack House with gamma radiation facility' is being established in Patan development block.

Financial aid of Rs 590 crore paid to landless agricultural labourers

Chief Minister said that under 'Rajiv Gandhi Bhoomiheen Krishi Mazdoor NYAY Yojana', we are providing financial aid of Rs 7 thousand per year to the landless agricultural laborers, shepherds, carpenters, blacksmiths, cobblers, barbers, washermen, priests living in Gram Panchayats and Nagar Panchayats, families under Pauni-pasari system, forest produce collectors, Baiga, Gunia, Manjhi, Priest, Haat of scheduled areas, Pahariya and Baja Muhariya etc. So far an amount of Rs 590 crore has been released.

Under 'Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme', we have achieved beyond the given target and labour budget. This year as well, we have created 110 percent more employment against the labour budget of 1 thousand 200 lakh man days.

Employment to more than 32 lakh women

More than 32 lakh women are being provided employment through Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, BC Sakhi, Community Based Sustainable Agriculture Scheme. At the same time, more than 2 lakh women have got employment opportunities through Gauthan, organic farming and DDU-GKY schemes.

'Aawas NYAY Yojana'

Chief Minister further said that no family should remain homeless in the villages of Chhattisgarh. And to ensure the same, we have commenced Aawas NYAY Yojana to ensure NYAY by providing housing facility to each and every family in rural areas. Construction of 8 lakh 63 thousand 445 houses under the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana' has been completed in the state, and for the construction of the remaining 2 lakh 12 thousand 701 houses, we have made a provision of Rs 3 thousand 228 crore in the latest budget of the state. We have also taken care of the eligible families after the 2011 census. If our request is not taken into consideration by the Government of India, we have promised to implement our plan for the state by conducting a socio-economic survey at the state level. In the same sequence, we have commenced 'Awas Nyay Yojana' and also made the first budget provision for it.

Various facilities available for the registered workers

We have taken many revolutionary measures to provide a better life to the workers. Retirement age has been extended from 58 to 60 years under the Factories Act. Under Chhattisgarh Labour Welfare Board, Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and Chhattisgarh Unorganized Workers State Social Security Board, 38 lakh 32 thousand workers have been registered. Registered workers are being provided benefits of numerous schemes related to insurance, health, medical, education, skill upgradation, family needs etc.

Strengthening the roots of democracy, we have increased the honorarium, facilities and financial rights of the elected officials of three-tier Panchayat Raj institutions and urban bodies.

*Highest collection of minor forest produce in the country

Chief Minister said that it is our priority to create new opportunities for livelihood, to improve the standard of living, to create new dimensions of progress and prosperity in the state, including tribal areas and forest areas. Till the year 2018, Tendupatta collection and procurement of only 7 minor forest produce was done in a very inflexible and disorganized manner, because of which the forest dependent people were being deprived of their rights. Our government has increased the remuneration for collection of tendupatta from Rs. 2 thousand 500 to Rs. 4 thousand per standard bag. An amount of nearly Rs 500 crore is being provided to the collectors as bonus this year for the business of tendupatta done in the years 2021 and 2022. We have also made arrangements to procure 67 other minor forest produce at support price, and so far minor forest produce worth Rs 388 crore has been collected. We have also taken several measures for value addition, processing, marketing of these forest produce. 'C-Marts' have been opened, where 1 thousand 512 types of forest produce based products are being sold.

We had promised to review and distribute the claims of canceled forest rights letters on a large scale. Today, I am satisfied to say that 1 crore 4 lakh 21 thousand acres of land has been distributed in the state through 5 lakh 18 thousand 617 individual, community and forest resources category forest rights letters. For the first time in the country, we have also provided forest rights letters in urban areas and habitat rights letters to special vulnerable tribal groups.

Rapidly developing infrastructure in scheduled areas

'Chief Minister's Silk Mission' has been started to boost the production of Kosa fruits in Bastar division. By empowering the Chhattisgarh State Handloom Development and Marketing Cooperative Union Limited, Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board, Chhattisgarh Khadi and Gramodyog Board, Chhattisgarh Matikala Board, the means of livelihood of lakhs of people in tribal and other rural areas have been strengthened. About 51 thousand beneficiaries engaged in the work of making silk in the state are also being benefitted through these efforts. .

All the basic infrastructures such as roads, bridges, culverts, schools, colleges, hospitals, electricity, water, means of employment have been developed in scheduled areas, which has enhanced the trust of people in the administration. The law and order and security conditions has significantly improved. We have also made sensitive efforts to preserve the indigenous culture of the tribal communities with respect. An amount of Rs 5 lakh has been approved for the conservation, renovation and construction of each Devguri and Ghotul. 'Mukhyamantri Adivasi Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana' has also been commenced, under which an amount of Rs 10,000 is being provided to each gram panchayat.

Along with food security, nutritional security also gained momentum

Chief Minister said that universal PDS was one of our major promises to keep. I am happy to say that we have achieved 100 per cent coverage as per the 2011 census by taking PDS to 2 crore 66 lakh people of the state. In addition to food security, nutritional security has also been given impetus. Fortified rice containing iron and supplementary folic acid is being distributed to Antyodaya, priority, single destitute, disabled ration card holders, mid-day meal scheme and supplementary nutritional food scheme beneficiaries in all the districts. Monthly entitlement rice is being given free of cost to 64 lakh needy ration card holders for the entire period of the year 2023. The 'One Nation-One Ration Card Scheme' is also being implemented in all ration shops.

Suposhan Abhiyan: 1.35 lakh children freed from malnutrition and two lakh women cured of anemia

Chief Minister said that we had assessed 4 years ago that 4 lakh 33 thousand children in the state are malnourished. To eradicate malnutrition in the state, we have started 'Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan'. Today, I am happy to say that effective implementation of Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan has resulted in significant decrease in the number of malnourished children in the state. Nearly 3.5 lakh children have been freed from severe malnutrition and 2.5 lakh women have been cured of anaemia. In this way, our resolve to make the new generation of Nava Chhattisgarh healthy and well-nourished is being fulfilled. I found that the honorarium given to field workers engaged in the care of daughters and newborns is very less, so we have doubled the honorarium of Anganbadi assistants, Anganbadi workers, and mini Anganbadi workers. Measures like development of 10,000 Anganbadi centers as 'Model Centres', development of more than 1,000 Anganbadi centers as 'Child Accessible Centres', 'Balwadis' started in more than 5,000 Anganbadi centres, development of 'Efficient Anganbadi Centers' in 10 aspirational districts and 20 development blocks are yeilding promising results.

Budget of Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh and loan limit to women self-help groups has been increased, and interest rate is down to only 3 percent. Schemes like Saksham Yojana, Kaushalya Samriddhi Yojana, Noni Suraksha Yojana, Kaushalya Matritva Yojana, Mukhyamantri Bal Uday Yojana, Shuchita Yojana, Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dular Yojana, Mini Mata Mahtari Jatan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana etc. have considerably enhanced the well-being of women and children in the state.

Chief Minister's Special Health Assistance Scheme(Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayta Yojana): Treatment facility up to Rs 25 lakhs

Acheiving the goal of 'Healthy Chhattisgarh' is our top priority. We have taken effective steps to improve the quality of healthcare services and hospitals in the state. We have established new medical colleges, provided mobile health facilities in haat-bazaars of remote tribal areas as well as in remote settlements of cities. We have provided extensive relief to the patients under 'Dr Khubchand Baghel Health Assistance Scheme'. Under 'Chief Minister's Special Health Assistance Scheme', free treatment facility of up to Rs 25 lakh is being provided to the beneficiaries. Relief has been provided to more than 2 crore people through Haat-Bazar Clinics, Urban Slum Health Assistance, Dai-Didi Clinic Scheme, Humar Lab, Free Dialysis Program etc.

Shri Dhanvantari Generic Medical Store: Up to 70 percent cheaper medicines for patients

Under Shri Dhanvantari Generic Medical Store scheme, 71 lakh people have got 70 percent cheaper medicines, saving more than Rs 124 crore. Consistent efforts of State Government have helped in increasing the rate of institutional delivery from 73.8 to 86.7 percent. MMR has come down from 173 to 137 per lakh. Leprosy incidence rate has come down from 7.72 to 1.7 per thousand. Malaria parasite index has come down from 4.6 to 0.46 per cent. In this way, we are fast realizing the dream of building a 'Healthy Chhattisgarh'.

Recruitment of regular teachers for the first time after the formation of the state

Our government has started a campaign for the recruitment of regular teachers for the first time after the formation of the state, under which 10 thousand 834 teachers have been recruited, and now the recruitment process of 12 thousand 489 teachers for Bastar and Surguja divisions is in progress.

We have taken the initiative to make the government schools so advanced in terms of infrastructure, education and co-curricular facilities that they compete with elite private schools in terms of quality education and suitable environment for students. Presently, 377 English medium and 349 Hindi medium schools are being run under the Government Swami Atmanand Excellent School Scheme, where 4 lakh 21 thousand children are studying. Government Swami Atmanand English Medium Colleges have also been started in 10 districts to provide excellent facilities of higher education in English medium to the youths who have passed out from here. The demand for such schools and colleges is continuously increasing.

'Mukhyamantri School Jatan Yojana' started to provide better facilities in school buildings

To provide better facilities and well-furnished buildings for all the schools of the state, we have started 'Mukhyamantri School Jatan Yojana' this year. Under this scheme, upgradation and renovation work will be done in more than 29 thousand schools of the state at a cost of Rs 2 thousand 133 crore. Presently, works have been completed in about 2,000 schools and work is in progress in 14,000 schools.

As the schools were closed during COVID-19 period, we arranged for providing education in alternative ways. This is the reason why the learning level of the children of our state is better than those in other states. To further bridge the learning gap, CHALK project is being started in the state with the help of Rs. 2500 crore provided by the World Bank.

International Residential School in Nava Raipur

Soon an international level residential school will be established in the state. Construction of a building for this world class school has also been started in Nava Raipur at a cost of Rs 100 crore. A national level teachers training institute is also being established in Nava Raipur.

With our scheme of providing certificate of ITI training along with the certificate of Higher Secondary Examination, youngsters are saving time and becoming more employable, which is giving a major boost to their confidence. Government of India has directed other state governments to adopt our scheme. Employment fairs are being organized, and various measures are being taken to provide opportunity for skill upgradation, which has benefited about 19 thousand youths.

71 new colleges, including 4 new music colleges opened in the state

Chief Minister said that we have taken several steps to build a bright future for the youth of the state. I am overwhelmed by the meaningful dialogues with the youngsters and their enthusiasm during the 'Bhent-Mulaqat' programs. We have started 71 new colleges including 4 new music colleges. Recruitment has been done on 1 thousand 553 posts of assistant professor, librarian, sports officer.

Jobs provided to 42 thousand youths, exam fees waived for competitive exams

We have decided to waive the examination fees for competitive examinations. So far, fees of about Rs 33 crore have been waived off for 22 lakh 28 thousand youth. About 42 thousand youths have got jobs through Vyapam, Public Service Commission, Chhattisgarh State Electricity Companies and Swami Atmanand Schools. The number of recruitments done in various corporations, boards, committees, departments funded by the government is in thousands.

Unemployment allowance provided to one lakh 22 thousand youth

We have also fulfilled the promise of providing unemployment allowance. So far, an amount of about Rs 113 crore has been released as unemployment allowance to more than 1 lakh 22 thousand youth.

Sports Academies and 'Khelo India Centres'

To ensure all-round development of the youngsters in the state, sports academies were started in several locations on the basis of their specialties. 'Khelo India Centers' are being operated in 24 districts. 13 thousand 242 'Rajiv Yuva Mitan Clubs' have been constituted in the state to connect the youth with social work, to make them the facilitator of cultural upliftment.

58 percent reservation in educational institutions

We have decided to implement the earlier system of 58 per cent reservation in educational institutions, after lifting the ban on reservation in recruitment and selection processes for SC, ST and OBC youth. In order to promote plantation of trees of cultural importance in the cities, 'Krishna Kunj Yojana' has been started, under which more than 60 thousand saplings have been planted on about 250 acres of land.

Simplification of revenue matters: formation of 6 new districts, 32 revenue subdivisions and 100 new tehsils

Registration of small plots is the basic need of middle class families, which was not taken into consideration in the past. We kept our promise of providing justice to the buyers and sellers of such small land plots. As a result, about 5 lakh plots have been registered. Likewise, stamp duty concession has been provided for the registration of residential buildings in the name of women. These decisions have made life easier for lakhs of people, they have got the benefit of financial liquidity.

We have simplified the rules and procedures for the resolution of revenue related matters. We have reorganized major administrative units, due to which 6 new districts, 32 revenue subdivisions and 100 new tehsils were formed. In this way, we have brought the administration closer to the general public.

Target of providing tap connection in all 50.13 lakh rural houses of Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister said that before the coming of our government, only 7 percent of the houses in the state had domestic tap connections, which have now increased to 55 percent. So far, 27 lakh 25 thousand 761 rural families have been given the benefit of household tap connections in the state. Now drinking water is being made available to the villagers through 2 lakh 72 thousand 114 hand pumps, 4 thousand 540 tap water schemes, 2 thousand 182 spot water supply schemes and 12 thousand 737 solar based water supply schemes. Under 'Jal Jeevan Mission', there is a target to provide pure drinking water through tap connections to all 50 lakh 13 thousand rural houses of Chhattisgarh by March 2024, with the norm of 55 liters per person per day.

Bijli Bill Half scheme: Rebate of Rs 3900 crore provided to 43 lakh domestic electricity consumers

Earlier the farmers and general public of our state could not get the benefit of the surplus electricity produced in Chhattisgarh. By changing this policy, we have decided to make Chhattisgarh a state of high consumption as well as of high production. 'Bijli Bill Half Scheme' is being implemented to provide electricity to people of the state at subsidized rate. About 43 lakh domestic electricity consumers have been given a rebate of about Rs 3 thousand 900 crore under this scheme. More than 1 lakh 7 thousand new irrigation pumps have been electrified. Free electricity worth Rs 12 thousand crore has been provided to farmers, free electricity worth Rs 2 thousand 200 crore has been given to BPL consumers so far.

Foundation of Rajiv Gandhi Super Critical Thermal Power Plant laid

Taking a historic step in the direction of power generation, we have performed Bhumi Pujan for setting up 'Rajiv Gandhi Super Critical Thermal Power Plant' of 1 thousand 360 MW capacity. Major steps have been taken to increase the capacity of transmission and distribution of electricity, due to which Chhattisgarh will remain a state with quality uninterrupted power supply.

Development work worth Rs 12 thousand 600 crore from DMF

We have made strict rules for the optimal utilization of DMF amount and an amount of about Rs 12 thousand 600 crore has been approved for schemes of broad public interest. 'DMF Portal' has been created for effective monitoring and transparent payment of DMF.

People saved from making frequent trips to the government offices for getting their work done

To save people from frequent trips to government offices and to ensure more transperancy in the official government works, 'Tunhar Sarkar, Tunhar Duar Yojana' has been commenced. Under this scheme, more than 22 lakh smart card based registrations have been done. Certificates, driving license etc. have been delivered to the applicants at their homes. Under Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana, documents of services related to urban bodies are being delivered at home, more than 1 lakh 15 thousand people have been benefitted by the scheme.

Efforts to preserve our cultural heritage

To preserve and promote our cultural heritage, we have declared holidays on the folk festivals such as Hareli, Teeja-Pora, Mata Karma Jayanti, Chherchera Punni, World Tribal Day and Chhath Puja. We have made 'Arpa Pairi Ke Dhar' the official state song, we have released the picture of Chhattisgarh Mahtari, the statue of Chhattisgarh Mahtari is also being installed in the districts. We are promoting every aspect of our culture including food, folk-art, Madai Mela. We are organizing 'Chhattisgarhia Olympics' every year to promote rural sports. Akti festival has been declared as 'Mati Pujan Day'.

Ram Van Gaman Tourist Circuit

To preserve the footprints of Maryada Purushottam Ram and the symbols of public faith, Ram Van Gaman Tourism Circuit is being developed in an area of 2 thousand 260 kilometers. Construction works have also been inaugurated at many such places. We have renovated and beautified the ancient temple premise of Mata Kaushalya in Chandkhuri. We have also started organizing 'Mata Kaushalya Mahotsav'.

Chhattisgarh Culture Council constituted

Our 'Tribal Folk Dance Festival' has received international recognition and appreciation. The announcement to include Devdas Banjare Smriti Panthi Nritya Puraskar, Lala Jagdalpuri Literary Award, Habib Tanveer Samman, Khuman Sav Samman, Laxman Masturia Samman in the list of state-level awards will make the contribution of these gems of Chhattisgarh more memorable. Moreover, 'Chinhari Portal', 'Chief Minister Folk Artist Promotion Scheme', 'Guru Shishya Parampara Scholarship', financial assistance scheme, financial grant to non-governmental organizations, formation of Chhattisgarh Culture Council have been started for our folk artists and litterateurs. With the implementation of the Chhattisgarh Film Policy, the shooting of 19 Bollywood films has been ensured, while many facilities have also been provided for Chhattisgarhi film production.

Winds of change in Naxal areas

As a result of our resolutions and efforts to ensure justice, about 600 villages of Bastar have been freed from the shackles of naxal violence. More than 300 schools affected by Naxal violence have been reconstructed and reopened. We had promised to free the tribals from unnecessary criminal cases. We have also fulfilled this promise by giving relief to about 1 thousand 400 people.

Money refund to the victims of chit fund company

An amount of Rs 34 crore has been returned to about 46 thousand investors who were victims of chit fund companies. About Rs 142 crore has been attached from such companies, so action is being taken to return this amount to the affected investors. More than 700 accused officials of chit fund companies have been arrested. Efforts to effectively curb cyber crime have prevented more than Rs 8 crore from falling into the hands of criminals. Recruitment and promotion on various posts in police department, formation of Bastar Fighters force, recruitment of third gender constables, welfare schemes for policemen, etc. have boosted the morale of the police.

Prosperity all the way in Chhattisgarh: 1 lakh 60 thousand crore rupees in people's pockets

Chief Minister said that we are working wholeheartedly to fulfill the resolution we had taken to build a 'Nava Chhattisgarh'. This has ushered a new era of prosperity across the state, right from the forest areas of the state to the towns, villages and cities. We have provided an amount of more than Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand crore in the accounts of people under various schemes. This has expedited the progress in every field of trade, business, and industry. The effect of reforms in every field is visible in the form of simplified process and expedited development. It is a matter of pride for the entire state that our state is leading in terms of implementing innovative schemes and achieving the targets under central schemes. Government of India has appreciated several schemes of Chhattisgarh and has also recommended implementing the same in other states. Our 'Chhattisgarh model' of development has brought a new ray of hope for the people of the state and has also been successful in giving a new direction to the country. There is a very short period between this Independence Day to Republic Day 2024, but I want to say once again that on January 26, 2024, we have to celebrate 75th Republic Day gloriously. Remember the sacrifices made by our forefathers for the freedom, the hardships faced by the army personnel and all the security forces to preserve the unity and integrity of the country, the way our great leaders fought to keep the country united. We should come together to serve Chhattisgarh Mahtari with new zeal and dedication, said Chief Minister towards the end.

Hyderabad: Policybazaar.com, India’s largest online insurance marketplace has launched a consumer insights report titled “How India Buys Insurance”. The report provides a comprehensive view of consumer awareness, needs and frictions when it comes to the purchase of health and life insurance. The research examines the buying behavior of over 3,300 respondents from 27 cities across India, including metros, tier II and tier III cities. With this study, Policybazaar intends to build a deeper understanding of the changing consumer needs, thereby helping the industry in improving its low insurance penetration.

The report revealed that the majority of Indians are aware of health and life insurance. In South India, the survey findings revealed that the respondents are more aware and financially prudent to buy health insurance. The need to be covered under some policy (corporate, parents, or own) was the top trigger for the purchase of health insurance amongst South Indians. In addition, people in the South seem to be more intrinsically driven to ensure financial security through life insurance than those in the other regions of the country. While fear remained the major behavioural trigger, people in South India were more affected by watching others suffer in the absence of a deceased loved one (45 per cent vs 35 per cent India average) or feel safer due to the life insurance payout (43 per cent vs 34 per cent India average). Even though loan liabilities played the least role in influencing purchase consideration for life insurance across India (15 per cent), they were significantly higher in the South (21 per cent) than in the other parts of the country.

Also, a significantly higher proportion of respondents in the South (56 per cent) relied more on insurance-specific websites (including insurer websites and policy comparison websites) vs. 43 per cent across India. The findings revealed that online adoption and new-age digital companies were more appealing to people in the South. On the launch of the report, Sarbvir Singh, CEO, Policybazaar, said, “Policybazaar’s efforts to maximize insurance penetration are in alignment with the IRDAI’s vision of a fully insured India. In order to achieve that objective, we need to deeply understand the changing consumer needs. With a detailed series of face-to-face interactions, we have gone beyond tier-I and tier-II cities in this research and also explored the perspectives of tier-III India. We hope that the insights from our research will pave the way for more relevant and consumer-centric solutions from the insurance industry.”

Key observations of the survey: Personal recommendation from friends and family or a known agent is the top trigger for insurance consideration for approx. 80 per cent of the respondents.For 56 per cent, a recommendation from friends and family was the main trigger for purchasing health insurance, while the number stood at 54 per cent for life insurance. Apart from this, brand familiarity and vintage seemed to play a key role in trust building. 58 per cent and 64 per cent respondents said that they trust the brands they are familiar with or the brands that have been around for a long time, both while purchasing health insurance and life insurance respectively.

Two key reasons that deterred the purchase of both health and life insurance included affordability issues and difficulty in understanding the product. While more than 40 per cent respondents cited high premiums as the reason for not purchasing health and life insurance, around 53 per cent found the products/ process difficult to understand and thus, dropped out.This indicates a clear need for education in the category along with simpler, more affordable options. The earlier this education starts, the easier it will be to hit the message home. Around 80 per cent respondents across health and life insurance looked online for information before purchasing the policy. However, over 85 per cent ended up purchasing offline primarily through an agent they knew or was recommended by friends and family.

Traffic was stalled and disrupted on the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway due to the falling and piling up of debris from landslides in the region, an official said on Friday.

Sharing details of the situation, Uttarkashi District Disaster Management Officer said the Gangotri and Yamunotri National Highway was closed to traffic on Friday morning due to the landslides and falling debris at several locations in the district. “Traffic on the Gangotri Highway was closed due to debris falling at Dharasu, while traffic on the Yamunotri Highway came to a standstill due to landslides at several places, including Dabarkot,” said the official.

Traffic on the Yamunotri National Highway was suspended on Thursday due to the continuous falling of debris at five places of Uttarkashi, including Dabarkot and Jhar Jhar Gad.

The Chamiala-Budhakedar Motor Road has been also closed due to excessive water and debris in Chail Gadere in Lata village of Himachal Pradesh.

The District Disaster Management Officer of Tehri District, Brijesh Bhatt, said due to surging water levels of Gadere river, water and debris entered 5-6 houses.

He told that about 0.250 hectares of agricultural land, belonging to about 15-16 families, has been damaged. However, there were no reports of any loss of life.

PWD Ghansali and the revenue team were at the spot overseeing the relief work.

Earlier, traffic was suspended as debris continued to fall at many places on the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway, as persistent rains continue to wreak havoc in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the Uttarkashi District Administration, the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway was closed to traffic as boulders continued to fall at many places following persistent rainfall in the region.

Traffic ground to a halt on Monday as boulders continued to fall at many places on the Yamunotri Highway, officials said.

District disaster management official of Uttarkashi, Devendra Patwal, said with boulders falling continuously over the last three days, traffic on both sides of the road came to a complete standstill.

According to the Chamoli police, a stretch of 60-70 metres of the Badrinath Highway, Kameda, was washed out due to intermittent rains while traffic movement on the highway was blocked. The police added that scores of commuters including tourists and locals were stranded on both sides of the highway.
