Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday reached village Gitpahar under Charama tehsil of Bhanupratappur assembly constituency. The villagers accorded him a traditional welcome by offering him a turban to wear. Mr. Baghel prayed for the happiness, well-being and prosperity of the people of the state by offering prayers to Sheetla Mata. Along with worshipping Angarmoti Mata he also worshipped Dokra Dev and Pahariya Dokra Dev praying for good rains. Besides, Chief Minister planted a sapling of Neem tree in the temple premises. Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Anila Bhediya and Deputy Speaker of Chhattisgarh legislative assembly and Bhanupratappur MLA Manoj Singh Mandavi were also present on the occasion.

Earthworms have become true 'Mitaan' of Women in Gitpahar

Women in Gitpahar are earning good income by selling earthworms and vermi compost

Earthworms play an important role in making the soil fertile, and hence, they are called friends to farmers. But who had known that these creepy crawlers can become the 'mitaan' of women and create an additional source of income for them. It sounds strange but it is true. Women in Gitpahar Gram Panchayat have befriended these tiny creatures to explore a whole new dimension of financial empowerment.

Resident of Gitpahar, Urvashi Jain had started practicing vermiculture at the local Gauthan around one and a half years ago, under Suraaji Gaon Yojana of Chief Minister Mr Bhupesh Baghel. And till date, Urvashi and her self-help group Saraswati Mahila Swa-Sahayta Samooh has sold nearly 7 quintals of earthworms worth Rs one lakh 37 thousand. Today, they have sufficient quantity of earthworms to meet the demand of farmers and other gauthans. Besides, they have also earned a profit of Rs one lakh 39 thousand by selling vermi compost.

Sangeeta Patel of village Jepra also has similar success story to tell. She too has sold 5 quintals of earthworms worth Rs 90 thousand in a span of one and a half years. She has also earned a profit of Rs 2 lakh by selling 40 quintals of vermi compost so far.

Both Urvashi and Sangeeta were provided earthworms by Agriculture Department. Both the beneficiaries created a favourable environment for vermiculture and in this way the quantity of earthworms multiplied. And today, not only the private traders but the Agriculture Department itself procures earthworms from Urvashi and Sangeeta.

One migrant labourer killed, another injured in terrorist attack in J-K’s Budgam

One migrant labourer, identified as 17-year-old Dilkhush Kumar from Bihar, was killed and another injured after terrorists shot at them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam on Thursday evening.

The non-local labourers were employed at a brick kiln in Chadoora village in Budgam district.

“#Terrorists fired upon 02 outside #labourers working in a Brick Kiln in Chadoora area of #Budgam. The duo was shifted to hospital for treatment where one among them #succumbed. @JmuKmrPolice,” tweeted the Kashmir Zone Police.

At about 9.20 pm on Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Police received information about a terror crime incident at Magraypora Chadoora area of Budgam where terrorists had fired upon two outside labourers.

Senior police officers along with reinforcement reached the site of the incident.

The preliminary investigation reveals, as per the official press release, that terrorists had indiscriminately fired upon two outside labourers identified as Dilkhush Kumar, a resident of Bihar and Rajan, a resident of Punjab, working in a Brick Kiln, at Magraypora Chadoora area of District Budgam.

In this incident, the duo had received critical gunshot injuries and were immediately shifted to the hospital for the treatment of their injuries.

However, one of the injured Dilkhush has succumbed to his injuries whereas; the condition of the other injured is stated to be stable.

The Police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. An investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this incident.

The area has been cordoned off and the search in the area is going on.

Notably, this attack comes only hours after a bank manager from Rajasthan, identified as Vijay Kumar, was shot dead in Kulgam. He was shot right outside his office.

The Resistance Front, a shadow outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group, claimed responsibility for the attack.

A couple of days ago, Hindu woman teacher Rajni Bala, hailing from Jammu’s Samba district, was shot dead by terrorists at a government school in Gopalpora, Kulgam.

During his state-level Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan today, Chief Minister inaugurated the C-Mart at Kondagaon. On this occasion, Chief Minister picked up a Shabri flute on sale at C Mart and played a melodious tune. Shabari flute is a unique musical instrument which creates melody when shaken with hands. This instrument is also useful for hand exercise.

On the occasion, Chief Minister inspected all the products displayed at C-Mart, including the herbal products, Kodo, Kutki, Ragi Cookies, Jamun Chips. Products manufactured by the members of Udaan Mahila Krishak Producer, under Bihaan, are being sold at this C-Mart opened in Chikhalputi, Kondagaon. Here, all kinds of local products will be available for sale under one roof. Chief Minister appreciated the products of C-Mart.

It is noteworthy that products worth about Rs 19 lakh are being sold in C-Mart Kondagaon. Chief Minister tried and praised the taste of Jamun Chips at C-Mart. Women working at the store told Chief Minister that jamun is a seasonal fruit; we have made jamun chips so that people may enjoy the taste of jamun round the year. Women in the Udaan group are manufacturing a total of 587 products.

The Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today inspected the Sub Tehsil Office in Badedongar in the Keshkal Vidhansabha. He obtained information about the filed cases and gave the directions to sort out all the cases timely.

The Inspection of the Public Service Center

The Chief Minister inspected the Public Service and Aadhar Registration Center situated in the Sub Tehsil Office of Badedongar. He met the beneficiaries present in the Public Service Office and asked them about any difficulties they might be facing. The Chief Minister himself distributed them the e-Labor Cards, Aadhar cards, and health cards and congratulated them.

The announcement for the Sub Tehsil in Badedongar was made on 27 January 2021 by the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel during a general meeting held in Kongera of the Baderajpur development block.

Within just a month of the Chief Minister’s announcement, on 23 February 2021, the Sub Tehsil Office was opened. After the opening of the Sub Tehsil office in Badedongar, works involving demarcation, transfer, and partition of the local residents have become easier because of which they are delighted.

At the Bhent-Mulaqat programme held in Bade Dongar area of Keshkal constituency today, farmer Ratiram complained to Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel that the stop dam built in his village Jugaani for irrigation has collapsed within just two years of construction and because of this, as many as 600 farmers are unable to irrigate their lands. Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to investigate the collapse of stop dam on Bhavardeeg Nala and also announced the construction of the new stop dam. Farmers also requested Chief Minister to establish maize factory in their village. They told that as a result of Government’s efforts to promote crops alternate to paddy, farmers have started cultivating maize on a large-scale, and hence a factory should be established for processing of this huge yield of maize. Farmers also demanded opening of a cooperative bank branch in the village. It is noteworthy that under State Government’s justice oriented schemes, financial aids are being directly transfered into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Because of which, the need for a proper banking system has further increased. On the occasion, Chief Minister announced opening of a branch of cooperative bank in Bade Dongar. Chief Minister told the farmers that the government is continuously working towards building a strong infrastructure so as to provide fair value of the produce to the farmers. On the occasion, Minister-in-charge Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, Member of Rajya Sabha Mrs. Phoolo Devi Netam, Bastar MP Mr. Deepak Baij, Keshkal MLA Mr. Santram Netam and other public representatives.

Chief Minister inspected Bade Dongar Sub-Tehsil-

Chief Minister had announced the formation of sub-tehsil in Bade Dongar on January 27 last year, and from the very next month, the official work for implementation of this announcement was commenced. Today, during his visit to Bade Dongar under Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan, Chief Minister inspected the sub-tehsil office. He inquired about the cases registered and gave instructions to ensure resolution of all the cases within the stipulated time frame. On this occasion, Chief Minister personally handed over e-shram card, health card, Aadhar card to the beneficiaries.

Farmers of Amgaon demanded electricity supply for irrigation pump, Chief Minister gave instructions to meet the demand

When Chief Minister asked about the availability of mobile medical vans for Haat Bazars, Asmati of Baangoli stood up and said that we always find the mobile medical van available when we reach the market. As soon as the haat-bazaar opens, the mobile medical van is found ready to provide good treatment and free of cost medicines. Girija Bai of Urandabeda told that she receives the treatment and the medicines free of cost from mobile vans at haat-bazaars.

Loan waiver has opened a path of progress for farmers

Farmer Shankarlal Shardul told that the loan waiver provided by Bhupesh government has opened a way for his progress. The burden of debt earlier had become the cause of stress and tension for him. Chief Minister, soon after your government came into power, Rs five lakh worth of my loan was waived. Then I received a good rate of my produce and then I could focus on farming work with more enthusiasm and relief. Presently, I own two Mahindra tractors and my farming work is flourishing.

Important announcements made by Chief Minister

On the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel announced upgrading of the primary health center of Bade Dongar to community health center. Besides opening a branch of Co-operative Bank at Badedongar, Chief Minister announced opening of Swami Atmanand English Medium School in Kongud, Farasgaon. Chief Minister also announced the construction of Mangal Bhawan (function hall) and construction of a bridge across the Nala en route on Ghotiamunda Chandabeda road. He also announced the completion of the unfinished work in Danteshwari temple of Bade Dongar, and the new works proposed in the temple were also approved. New school buildings were also announced for Shankarpur, Kumhar Badgaon, Pandeyathgaon, Chingnar, Hirri, Bhandar Seoni, Manjhiathgaon. He also announced the construction of a culvert on Jaitpuri to Girola road.

The announcements made by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel during the Jan Chaupal are being promptly implemented by the concerned district administration. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel had announced the approval of Rs. 1.5 lakh for visually impaired student Bhanupriya Acharya of Savra village and her brother Khalendra during Jan Chaupal held at Bakawand on May 26. Immediate action has been taken by Bastar Collector Mr. Rajat Bansal, who visited the home of these children and handed over a cheque of Rs.1.5 lakh to them.

During Jan Chuapal of the ‘Bhent-Mulaqat’ programme, a visually impaired student Bhanupriya Acharya told the Chief Minister that she wants to study and she is unable to do so because of her family’s poor financial condition. Her visually impaired brother Khalendra also expressed his desire to learn music. For both, Bhanupriya demanded a smartphone and a tape recorder. Showing affection toward these blind children, the Chief Minister immediately approved Rs 1.50 lakh to Bhanupriya-Khalendra's father Mr.Devendra Acharya in Bakawand for purchasing smartphones and other equipment. After the announcement of the Chief Minister, the Bastar administration showed its promptness, Collector Rajat Bansal personally visited the house of the visually impaired Bhanupriya and Khalendra and handed over a cheque of Rs 1.50 lakh to them.

As suggested by Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, the Farmers of Kondagaon have welcomed the innovative initiative to opt for the cultivation of Medicinal Aromatic plants. After receiving Forest Land Rights, the farmers have planted alternative cash crops in their forest lands to try a different approach of farming rather than just practicing the traditional mode of paddy farming. The processing units for the value addition process to these aromatic plants have also been set up in Gauthans. Earlier, the farmers who were availing just twenty-five thousand Rs as profit by cultivating paddy will be able to earn seventy-five thousand Rs by cultivating aromatic medicinal crops. The marketplace for selling the product has also been marked to make the selling process easy. Aromatic crops are being taken by individual farmers, and forest rights clusters of the district which has created huge opportunities for economic potential in the entire region. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel launched this initiative on 20 June 2021. These aromatic plants have pro-health and pro-environmental qualities as the oil extracted from certain plants is also used to manufacture mosquito repellants.

It is noteworthy that as per the wishes of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel with the aim of increasing the income of the marginal and small farmers of the district, the district administration has started the 'Aromatic Kondanar' campaign for the cultivation of aromatic crops in the district. A field distillation unit has been established in Rajagaon to extract the aromatic oils from these aromatic crops. This process will help the farmers to get 10 times more profit than traditional crops. The extracted aromatic oil is used in making perfumes, essential oils, medicinal oils, soaps, liquid handwash, sanitizers and mosquito repellents.

The Production Centre itself acted as a marketplace

Mr. Harishchandra Koram, a member of Indira Van Mitan Group, Managing Committee of Aromatic Kondanar, said that after the MoU beetween district administration and Sunflag Agrotech, it will be easy to reach the oil markets of Indonesia, Europe and US where oils extracted in Gauthans can be exported for a significant profit. He said that now the producers will not have to search for a marketplace to sell oil, the aroma of Aromatic Kondanar will itself attract the buyers here.

Contribution towards malaria-free Bastar campaign

Aromatic oil extracted from the aromatic plant is also used in manufacturing mosquito repellent. This process of oil extraction will be helpful in the malaria-free Bastar campaign of the state government. ,Due to this the mortality rate due to malaria will also come down in the region.

Farmers are getting prosperous due to the cultivation of aromatic crops

Sampat Singh Netam, a resident farmer in the village of Mirdongar, told that he has received a forest rights letter for about 2.5 acres of land from the state government. He has been cultivating paddy for the last several years in this land, from which he used to get an income of approximately 25 thousand per acre annually. After getting the information about the cultivation of aromatic plants by the district administration, he has started to produce lemon grass in 1 acre and khus (vetivare) in about one and a half acres. The market price of aromatic oil is Rs 1500 per liter. At this rate, he will receive a profit of 70 to 80 thousand rupees annually per acre which is almost three times the profit he was generating with the traditional mode of farming paddy

The people who arrogate farmers’ money cannot roam free, they’ll be sent to jail. Any incident of fraud with farmers will be thoroughly investigated and immediate action will be taken. During the ‘Bhent-Mulaqat’ Programme in Makdi, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel assured all the farmers after hearing the complaint of one of them. He said that the officers have been instructed to take strict action in the event of fraud with farmers so that such antisocial agents are taught a lesson. A farmer had made a complaint against the Additional Agriculture Extension Officer A.K. Tandon during the Bhent Mulaqat Programme in Makdi. The Police Officers said that an F.I.R has been lodged against him. “Welfare of the farmers is among the topmost priorities of the state government. We are committed to provide right and fair price for their produce”, said Mr. Baghel. On this occasion, Minister of Industries Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, Rajya Sabha MP Mrs. Phulo Devi Netam, MP Mr. Deepak Baij, Kondagaon MLA Mr. Mohan Markam, and other public representatives were also present.

Complaint was made regarding name not being added to the ration card, the Chief Minister gave the necessary directions, and by the end of the programme, the name was added– The people are receiving on-the-spot solutions to their problems in programme organized during ‘Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan’. Partu Pandey complained that his wife’s name wasn’t added to the ration card. The Chief Minister immediately gave instructions to solve the issue. At the end of the programme, the Chief Minister told Partu Pandey that his wife Sohdara’s name has been added to the ration card.

Training is going on under ‘Mawa Girda Kondanar Yojana’ Recruitment for Bastar Fighters is going to commence and training is being provided as well for its preparations by the state government. Under the ‘Mawa Girda Kondanar Yojana’, youth and girls are being trained for its preparation. Praising the training provided, the youth said that this has raised the hope that we will definitely get selected for Bastar Fighters.

‘Tikhur’ of Kondagaon is being exported to Vietnam: Chief Minister said that the products of Kondagaon have gained international recognition with Tikhur from here being exported to Vietnam. The state government is making an effort to make the unique products of Bastar ‘go global’ so that the world should know about their benefits. Better promotion will boost the demand of our forest produce.

Benefits of Narva Scheme While interacting with Chief Minister, the beneficiaries of Narva Yojana told that the water level has increased significantly through this scheme. Earlier there used to be water scarcity problem in the high altitude areas which has now been solved. Due to this they are now able to harvest twice.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today inspected Swami Atmanand English School in Jagdalpur and during his visit, a kid named Rashmi Dahria asked Chief Minister to tell them more about Swami Atmanand ji, after whom their school has been named. In his affectionate response to the curiosity of little Rashmi, Chief Minister stood in front of the Black Board and explained the children in detail about the inspirational life of Swami Atmanand.

Chief Minister told the children that Swami Atmanand was born in Raipur, his father's name was Shri Dhaniram Verma. He was a freedom fighter and teacher. Swami Atmanand ji had joined the Quit India Movement on Mahatma Gandhi's call. After which he had lost his job and was even arrested. He stayed with Gandhiji at Wardha Ashram. When Swami Atmanand was 4 years old, he used to sing the favorite bhajan of Mahatma Gandhi- Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram on Harmonium in Wardha Ashram. He was very intelligent, was a gold medalist from Nagpur in MSc Maths. During his stay in Vivekananda Ashram in Nagpur, he felt inspired to follow the path shown by Swami Vivekananda. He had secured his position in the top ten scorers in the ICS exam. But he did not become a collector, instead he joined Swami Vivekananda Ashram. Vivekananda also lived in Raipur in his childhood. After Calcutta, he spent most of his life in Raipur.

Swami Atmanand ji worked hard and opened an ashram in Raipur. But at that time, famine had struck the region. Swamiji spent all the money deposited for the ashram in the service of the famine victims. Because Vivekananda used to say that service to the poor is the service of God. He opened ashrams in various places including Indore, Bhilai, Amarkantak.

When he met Mrs. Indira Gandhi, she told him that people of Abujhmad are deprived for government schemes. She requested him to open an ashram in Abujhmad. In the same sequence, Swami ji opened an ashram and a school in Narayanpur. For the first time, seven children of Abujhmad had made it to the merit list of Bastar Division. All seven of the children who were studying under his guidance had successfully made it to the merit list. Swami Atmanand ji had made major contribution to the field of education. His discourses used to be inspirational. He was a great reformer, and a great thinker. This is the reason why their school was named after Swami Atmanand ji. Glad to learn about the life of Swami Ji, children applauded at the end of Chief Minister’s narration.

Chief Minister directed the Collector to take students of Swami Atmanand School, Jagdalpur to the ashram established by Swami Atmanand in Narayanpur. As a response to school closure during Covid-19 pandemic, Dabaguda village youth opened learning center

As a response to the school closure, youth of Dabaguda village of tribal-dominated Bastar district undertaken a unique initiative of starting a learning center to ensure uninterrupted learning of children during the time of Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 32 children were provided education along with sports activities for their holistic development in this learning center opened as per the instructions of district collector. Jeevan Das, a class 5 student, showed Chief Minister his learning center. He also displayed his sport skills in traditional games like ‘gilli danda’ and ‘bhaura’ (spinning top). Lastly, he said that I like skipping rope. ‘Aap bhi kud kar dikhao’, he innocently asked Chief Minister. Mr. Baghel decided to skip some rope on his sweet request. Chief Minister also enjoyed playing ‘gilli-danda’ and spinning top with the children, which made them excited and happy.

“This child is very talented. Get him admitted in Atmanand English Medium School”, Chief Minister said. A village youth informed that the blend of education and sports activities have led to rapid development of children. They come happily to the Learning Center. We make them study and play games as well.

Heaping praise on the youth, Chief Minister said that due to the awareness of people like you and the determination of the government, all of us were able to face the extreme times of Corona. “You guys have helped ensuring that no child is left behind during the pandemic and have nurtured the talents of children like Jeevan Das. It is well said that where there is a will there is a way, this phrase is well suited in case of Women from Bastar associated with the Papaya cultivation. 43 women of Maa Danteshwari Papita Utpadak Samiti have started to cultivate papaya on the barren land of Mangalpur Village of Bastar District. Papaya Badi of Mangalpur is an excellent example of Narwa, Garuwa, Ghurwa, Badi scheme success.

Hemvati Kashyap, a member of women Self-Help Group cultivating papaya at Mangalpur in Bastar district, shared the success story of her group with Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today. Currently, we have produced 300 tonnes of papaya on 10 acres of land and through this, we have done a business of Rs 40 lakh. By cultivating papaya, for the first time we got a chance to travel by aeroplane to go to Delhi, government under your leadership is changing our lives. Besides, the group has managed to generate a savings of Rs 10 lakh for which the Chief Minister congratulate them.

Committee secretary Hema Kashyap told that this land was very barren, to make the land cultivable, these women took about one and half months to clear the stone through 100 trolleys. The ground was levelled by digging for red soil and making beds for planting papaya plants. The soil was added again to make bigger beds. The land preparation was started by these women in December 2021 for about one and a half months, and then on January 11, 2021, the planting of papaya saplings started. It is the hard work of these women that today 5500 papaya plants are flourishing in an area of 10 acres. So far 300 tonnes of papaya have been produced till now. Intercropping of vegetables is being done in the middle of papaya beds. For the first time in Asia, the improved Amina variety papaya is being cultivated here which is very sweet in taste as well as nutritious.

The Chief Minister encouraged the Women

While encouraging the women, the Chief Minister said that hard work is necessary for progress, only information, awareness and courage are needed. The people here are very hardworking. Farmers of Mangalpur should also teach other people about how passionate they are about farming. Like Mangalpur, farmers of every village of Bastar can progress by doing a similar kind of farming.

Bastar’s Papaya is being sold in Delhi

The sweet taste of papaya grown by women in Mangalpur village of Darbha block of Bastar has reached Delhi. Three consignments of about 5 tonnes of papaya have been sold in Azadpur Mandi of Delhi. The selling price received by the farmers is Rs. 80 per kg. This was only made possible because of the courage and hard work of these women who with their dedication have cultivated papaya despite unfavourable land conditions.

Chief Minister observed the improved agriculture technology with an automated drip irrigation system

The women farmers of Mangalpur have adopted the automatic drip irrigation system to provide adequate water and soluble fertilizers to the roots of Papaya plants. Only drip irrigation techniques can be used for farming in the rocky land of this region. Irrigation System Operator Manish Kashyap told the Chief Minister that this entire system is computerized, which can be operated from anywhere through the internet.

Use of innovative farm technology; Weather stations and mobile apps are being used

A state-of-the-art weather station has been installed in the women's bari. By which the appropriate temperature, evaporation rate, soil moisture, moisture content in the air, wind speed, and wind direction are measured. Women are using this information for irrigation through the app on their mobile. Productivity has increased with the use of this technology.

Women are becoming financially independent through Van Dhan Yojana

In response to Chief Minister’s question at Bhent-Mulaqat programme, Mrs Sumani Baghel told that her self-help group is presently doing the minor forest produce collection work under Van Dhan Yojana. Under this scheme, they collect Harra, Bahera, Giloy, Mahua, Tamarind etc. She told Chief Minister that two year ago, we had no work no job, but now after associating with this scheme, we have become financially empowered. Earlier we had not even seen such a big amount of money, but today we are capable of purchasing goods worth up to Rs 12 to 15 lakhs. Earlier middlemen would purchase forest produce from villagers at low cost and make huge profit by selling it on a higher price. But ever since minimum support price has been set for these forest produce, villagers are earning better profits.

Mrs Sumani further told Chief Minister that earlier, traders used to procure tamarind from the villagers at the rate of Rs.25, but now villagers are making good profit by selling this tamarind to us at the rate of Rs.33/kg. This scheme has made all of us financially empowered. Earlier we women used to depend on our husbands for the fulfillment of daily needs. She further told that this financial independence has boosted our self-confidence, so much that we are boldly expressing our thoughts, opinions and needs without any hesitation. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel appreciated and applauded Sumani's work and also congratulated her for her growth.

During the discussion, Mrs. Sumani told that her self-help group has 10 women members and when all of them are free from farming work, they work for 2 to 3 months and earn good profit from this scheme. She told Chief Minister that two years ago the cost of Tendu leaves was Rs.250 but now its value is Rs.400, because of which we have started earning an additional income of Rs.150. She thanked Chief Minister for Van Dhan Yojana, on behalf of the women group, the women of the village and the women of the state. On being asked by Chief Minister, Mrs. Soni told that she has her husband, her mother-in-law and two children in the family. Mahua is bought from the villagers at the support price of Rs 35,. Earlier her children used to study in English Medium School but after lockdown due to pandemic, she got them enrolled in local government school.

On the occasion of the 9TH Anniversary of the Jheerum Valley tragedy, the Chief Minister paid his tribute to the martyrs

9 years ago on this day, a Naxal attack in Jheerum Valley had taken place in which 32 people, including senior ministers of Congress and Police officers, lost their lives. To honor and pay a tribute to the martyrs, the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel was present in the Lalbag Maidan in Jagdalpur. To preserve the memories of the 32 people martyred in Jheerum valley in the hearts of common people, a Jheerum Valley Martyr’s Memorial has been built in the Lalbag Maidan in Jagdalpur. The Chief Minister unveiled the memorial for the common people. He also hoisted a 100 feet tall Tricolor on the memorial premises to honor the memory of the martyrs.

The idols of 32 public representatives and soldiers martyred in Jheerum Valley have been constructed along with their respective names to keep their memories alive forever. The Chief Minister also gifted Shawls, Shrifal, and plants as a memory to the family members of the Jheerum Valley martyrs. The family members and relatives of the martyrs living in other cities were also connected to the event virtually through online media. The Chief Minister talked to the family members and also expressed his respect and appreciation for the work done by the martyrs. He said that everyone in the state is being served justice and Chhattisgarh is establishing itself as an island of peace. On this occasion, he said that the martyrs of Jheerum valley are showering us with blessings from heaven. He praised the family members of the martyrs for their courage and assured them of standing by them through thick and thin.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated Jheeram Valley Martyr Memorial at Lal Bagh Ground in Jagdalpur today and paid courteous tribute to the martyrs of Jheeram Valley incident. He unfurled a nearly 100-ft high tricolor in the memory of the martyrs on the occasion

Chief Minister said in his address to the inaugural programme- “I pay my humble tribute to the martyrs of the heart-wrenching incident of Jheeram Valley and I hereby dedicate the Jheeram Valley Martyrs Memorial". He said that these were the public heroes of first line who were on the path of bringing about transformation in the lives of farmers, youth, children and women of the state. Today they are not with us, but their guidance and inspiration will remain with us forever.

Chief Minister said that our veteran leaders would have been really happy to see the justice being ensured to every section in Chhattisgarh today. However, their blessings will always be with us, like a guiding light. He added that Chhattisgarh Government will always stand with the families of the martyrs, under all circumstances.

This morning, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel reached Lalbagh Ground in Jagdalpur via helicopter directly from Chitrakote and walked all the way from the helipad to Jheeram Valley, where he paid homage to the martyrs and inaugurated Jheeram Valley Martyrs Memorial. In the Naxal attack which took place at Jheeram Valley on May 25, 2013, 32 people including senior public representatives- Shri Nandkumar Patel, Shri Vidyacharan Shukla, Shri Mahendra Karma, Shri Uday Mudaliar, Shri Yogendra Sharma were martyred. Many party workers, jawans and common people had lost their lives in this incident. Jheeram Ghati Tribute Day is being observed on 25th May to commemorate the sacrifices of the martyrs.

Life is very unpredictable but it is well said that all’s well that ends well. A story well suited to this phrase was narrated by a woman named Dasmi Kuhrami, a resident of Chandameta of Bastar. There was a time when Dasmi Kuhrami had a gun in her hand under the guise of Naxalites. But now these hands are welcoming the tourists visiting Bastar. Dasmi Kuhrami, once a Naxalite member earlier, is now being recognized as a decent, elegant receptionist. Dasmi surrendered after coming across the bitter truth of Naxalism. Now after joining mainstream society, she is grooming her life. Today, when Dasmi met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, she narrated her story. Kind-hearted Chief Minister Mr.Baghel after hearing the story of Dasmi expressed his sympathy and inspired her to do better work.

The story of Dasmi Kuhrami, who surrendered after being a Naxalite for long 9 years, tells the bitter truth of Naxalism and the life of Naxalites. Dasmi of Chandameta, a Naxal-affected area, was living a life of scarcity. In such a situation, she joined the Naxalite group named ‘Chetna Natya Mandali’ to fulfil her passion for dancing and singing. Initially, she was unaware of the reality of Naxal activities. Meanwhile, she met Vargesh, an active Naxalite member. After some time both of them decided to get married and spend their life together, but fate had something else for them. The dreams were shattered on the day of their marriage when Vargesh was killed in an encounter with security forces in Katekalyan. Dasmi was also spending the rest of her life in fear all the time while indulging in Naxalite activity. Neither she could meet her family members, nor she was able to live life freely. After living with Naxalites for such long 9 years, she decided to surrender in the year 2020 under influence of the Chhattisgarh government’s policies, and join the mainstream of the society.

After surrender, the administration gave the benefit of the ‘surrender policy’ to Dasami Kuhrami, and then Dasami returned to Chandameta. Meanwhile, she also got a job as a receptionist at Chitrakot Eco-Tourism Resort, and now she started a new life with all dignity and respect. Dasmi thanked Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for all these schemes and efforts. Dasmi also told that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, the Chhattisgarh government has created a conducive environment in Bastar which resulted in a fact that a large number of people leaving the Naxalite activity and joining the mainstream society.
