New Delhi। The first online meeting of the Indian Journalists Association ( IJA ) is held on Sunday। In which national and state level officials were present। The meeting was chaired by National President Ramnath vidrohi। On this occasion, all the officials introduced themselves। The strengthening of the organization was then discussed।

On this occasion, National President Ramnath vidrohi said that the contribution of members is needed to strengthen the organization। He insisted on implementing the Journalist Security Act on 18 July to support the performance of journalists on Parliament House and to act in the journalist interest।

DSP's killing: Nuh police makes third arrest in case

The Nuh police on Friday nabbed a native of Rajasthan's Alwar for harbouring the key accused in the murder case of a Haryana DSP who was mowed down probing illegal mining.

Tauru DSP Surendra Singh probing illegal stone mining was killed Tuesday when a truck he had signalled to stop in Nuh district drove into him.

Jabid, alias Billa, had on his motorcycle helped key accused Sabbir, alias Mittar, to flee to Rajasthan.

Billa was produced in a Nuh court and police took him on two-days remand.

According to police, Billa is a native of Gandwa village in Alwar district of Rajasthan.

Billa and Sabbir first reached Sare Kalan village at the place of Sabbir's sister but from where they moved to Gwalta and then fled to Rajasthan.

During interrogation, Sabbir and his accomplice Ikkar, who was the first to be arrested in the case, revealed that seven more men were there during the attack on the DSP and all were involved in illegal mining.

Police teams are conducting raids to nab others, said a senior police officer.

"We are questioning all three and raids are being conducted to nab other suspects in the case," Nuh SP Varun Singla said.

The Nuh Police had on Wednesday arrested truck driver Sabbir from Rajasthan's Bharatpur district following the questioning of Ikkar.

The Haryana government had on Thursday said a judicial probe will be conducted into the killing of the deputy superintendent of police.

6 kanwariyas killed in road accident in UP's Hathras

Hathras (UP), Jul 23 (PTI) Six kanwariyas were killed and one got injured after being hit by a speeding truck early Saturday morning in Sadabad town here, police said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered his condolences on the incident and directed district authorities to ensure complete medical treatment of the injured.

Additional Director General of Police, Agra Zone, Rajeev Krishna said, "The kanwariyas were returning from Haridwar and were headed to Gwalior when they were hit by a speeding truck at around 2.15 am."

Seven Kanwariyas were hit by the truck. Five of them died on the spot while another succumbed at a hospital where he was taken, police said.

One of them is still undergoing treatment, they said.

The accident occurred near Badar crossing under Sadabad Police station limits.

The deceased were identified as Jabar Singh, 28, Ranveer, 30, Manoj Pal, 30, Ramesh Pal, 30, Naresh Pal, 32, and Vikas, 25.

Police have informed the relatives of the deceased about the incident and initiated a probe into the matter.

The bodies of the deceased were sent for post mortem and police are looking for the driver of the truck.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said it is wrong to summon two members of the same family over and over again, that too in connection with the same case.

The Congress said on Thursday that allegations that Enforcement Directorate stopped questioning party chief Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case as she requested to leave because she is suffering from COVID-19 are baseless.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that Sonia Gandhi was questioned for two-three hours and was allowed to leave by ED officials as they didn’t have anything else to ask. “On this, the Congress president replied that they can ask her as many questions as they want,” he said.

“The allegations that ED stopped investigation as Sonia Gandhi requested to leave because she is suffering from COVID-19 are baseless. The interrogation ended because ED didn’t have anything to ask. Sonia Gandhi said, she’ll be present at ED office whenever they want,” he added.

Ramesh said that Sonia Gandhi told the officials that she is prepared to stay till 8-9 pm and did not make any request that questioning should be stopped.

ED had earlier questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the case for five days.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said it is wrong to summon two members of the same family over and over again, that too in connection with the same case.

“As for the arrest of people, it is not like they disrupted the law-and-order situation. Besides, we have the right to agitate,” he said.

The Congress held protests in different parts of the country on Thursday over ED summons to Sonia Gandhi.

Stage set for counting of votes for presidential poll

New Delhi, Jul 21 (PTI) The process of counting of votes to declare the name of the 15th president of the country began on Thursday morning, with polling officials sorting the ballot papers from different states, officials said.

National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) Droupadi Murmu and Opposition's Yashwant Sinha are in the fray.

The green-coloured ballot papers of the MPs from different states will be sorted before the formal counting begins.

According to the alphabetical order, the ballot boxes from various states, including those from Kerala and Meghalaya, have been sorted.

The MLAs have marked their votes on pink-coloured ballot papers.

Voting for the presidential poll took place in Parliament House and various legislative assemblies on July 18.

The counting of votes will take place in Parliament House under the supervision of Rajya Sabha Secretary General P C Mody, who is the chief returning officer for the poll, the assistant returning officers and the observers deployed by the Election Commission.

Preeti Toppo, a resident of Manendragarh in Koriya district, belonged to a poor family. Two years ago on this day, when Godhan Nyay Yojana was launched in Chhattisgarh, Preeti felt as if this scheme was made for her. Preeti and other women of the village came together to form a self-help group and got involved in the manufacturing of vermicompost manure and collection of cow dung. Today, after two years, Preeti has sold vermicompost fertilizer worth Rs 93 lakh through Toppo Group. Now they do not have to depend on anyone else for their needs. They are beaming with confidence and joy because of their financial freedom. Preeti has brought economic change not only for herself but also for the women of the group associated with her and all this has been possible because of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel's vision.

A women self-help group named Swachh Manendragarh Sangh, engaged in vermi compost manufacturing in urban Gauthan of Manendragarh in Koriya district, is gaining appreciation and recognition for how they have earned Rs 93 lakhs by selling vermicompost manure. Who would have thought that cow dung could be of so much use. Dung has great importance in religious works, but under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh government has made cow dung the axis of economic change.

Godhan Nyay Yojana is a one of a kind scheme in the entire country. Godhan Nyay Yojana of the government has turned cow dung into a commodity. Today cow dung is being sold and bought. Chhattisgarh government is buying cow dung, which is being turned into vermicompost manure by self-help groups. Self-Help Groups are earning good profits by selling vermicompost. This has brought about major change in their financial status and overall standard of living.

Initially it was difficult to work due to opposition from family, got out of the debt taken for sister’s marriage using the money received under scheme: Preeti Toppo

Mrs. Preeti Toppo, a member of the Swachh Manendragarh Area Level Union of Manendragarh development block, which produces highest quantity of vermi compost in the entire district, said "The family was not very happy when I started the work of producing vermi compost in Gauthan. However, with the increase in production and sales, family and people's attitude towards us started changing. Through this scheme, we have got the means of self-employment; our prestige in the society has increased.”

Preeti told that she has got nearly Rs 50,000 from the dividend. Using this amount she got out of the debt taken for sister’s marriage and bought bicycle for her children. Her family members were unhappy due to less family time, but as time passed they have become supportive and are happy with her work.

Paving path of self-reliance

The group comprises of 73 women who have never stepped out of their homes for work. Earnings from this work have made them a strong pillar of their families. These women are paving path of self-reliance by producing vermi compost. So far, 9 lakh 30 thousand kg of vermi compost has been produced and sold by the group, in the lieu of which Rs 93 lakh has been paid to the group.

Meeting with Chief Minister boosted group’s morale

Preeti said that the interaction with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel during his meet and greet programme boosted morale of the group. Speaking directly to the head of state was indeed a big moment for me and for the whole group. He encouraged us saying that turnover of the Gauthan will soon rise to one crore. His words have infused a new energy in the group and all the women of the group are working with more dedication and enthusiasm.

Door to door garbage collection in the morning and compost production in the afternoon

Most of the women of this group belong to economically weaker families. They perform door-to-door garbage collection work in the morning which earns them an income of Rs 6,000 per month. In the afternoon, these women indulge in the work of vermi compost production, for which they receive dividend accordingly.

More than Rs 9 crore have been paid so far to the groups producing vermi compost of the district

Vermi compost is being produced and sold by 345 women self-help groups engaged in 332 Gauthans of Korea district. Till now 1.30 lakh quintal vermi compost and super compost have been produced in the district, out of which 92, 805 quintals has been sold. The group has earned an income of Rs. 9.28 crore in which the net dividend of the group is Rs. 3.52 crore. Cow dung is being purchased at 342 places in the district. In this, 3.93 lakh quintals of cow dung has been purchased from more than 13,000 vendors and Rs 7.86 crore has been directly transferred in their bank accounts.

6 die after drinking country liquor in Bengal

Howrah (WB), Jul 20 (PTI) Six people died and several fell ill allegedly after consuming country liquor from a hooch den in West Bengal's Howrah district, a police officer said on Wednesday.

Though the cause of the deaths is yet to be ascertained, police have arrested the owner of the liquor shop, Pratap Karmakar.

A number of people fell ill after consuming the country liquor on Tuesday night in Malipanchghora area, the officer said.

"Most of those who had fallen ill were hospitalised and six of them died this morning. We are waiting for the post-mortem examination report to ensure the cause of the death. We have arrested the owner of the shop and sent alcohol samples from there for chemical examination," the officer said.

The condition of a few others is stated to be critical .

The authorities have sealed the shop.

Following the deaths, people are staging protests in the area.

Recalling the contribution of Dr. Baghel, the Chief Minister said that Khubchand ji devoted his entire life for the welfare of Chhattisgarh. As a social reformer, sensitive litterateur and skilled doctor, he gave a new direction towards improving the wellbeing of the society. Till the end of his life, he continued to serve Chhattisgarh by engaging in creative and farmer-laborer friendly activities. He was the first dreamer of Chhattisgarh's formation as a state.

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that during his studies, Dr. Saheb was influenced by the national ideology and started taking active part in the national movement. Voting for electing the new President of India began on Monday in Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the early MPs to cast his vote at the polling booth inside the Parliament premises.

Talking to IANS Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, “The NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu is going to win this election with a record vote and with a huge margin.”

Murmu is the NDA candidate, who is contesting against Yashwant Sinha, supported by the Opposition parties.

The Rajya Sabha’s Secretary General is the Returning Officer for this election.

The President is elected by members of the Electoral College consisting of elected Members of Parliament and that of all the state Assemblies, including National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The nominated Members of Parliament, state Assemblies and Members of Legislative Council are not eligible to vote.

A total of 776 Members of Parliament and 4,033 MLAs will vote in the Presidential elections.

The total value of votes is 10,86,431, of which votes of MLAs are 5,43,231 and MPs are 5,43,200.

Two journalists were shot by bike-borne criminals last night in Khaliyari Market of Raipur police station area of Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. At the time of the incident, both the journalists were engrossed in discussing the news on tea while sitting at a tea stall.Mr.shyam Sundar Pandey and Vijay Pandey both are renowned journalist of print media. Both of them admitted to trauma centre in Banaras.

AAP meet to decide on presidential candidate support

New Delhi, Jul 16(PTI) The political advisory committee(PAC) of AAP will meet Saturday noon to decide on its support in the Presidential election, sources in the party said.

The meeting will be attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other members of the PAC, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Punjab MP Raghav Chadha, and MLA Atishi, among others.

The AAP has so far kept it's cards close to its chest, not revealing if it will support opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha or BJP candidate Droupadi Murmu in the Presidential poll, voting for which will take place on Monday.

The AAP is the only non-BJP, non-Congress outfit with governments in two states -- Delhi and Punjab.

It has 10 Rajya Sabha MPs from the two states, including three from Delhi.

Also, the party has 92 MLAs in Punjab, 62 in Delhi, and two in Goa.

19-year-old woman abducted, gang-raped in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jul 15 (PTI) A 19-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped in Churu district of Rajasthan, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon and an FIR was registered in the evening, they said.

According to the FIR, the woman was abducted by an acquaintance, Naresh Jat, and two other people. They allegedly took her to a room and raped her.

The accused are on the run, the police said, adding that the medical examination of the victim is being conducted.

Chattisgarh state govt. Cabinet Meeting

1. Cabinet has approved the proposal to implement a new fisheries policy in place of the existing fishery policy in the state.

2. The proposal for sanctioning the formation of District Strike Force cadre by dissolving the posts of Assistant constables in the state has been approved. This will remove the discrepancy related to the salary of the assistant constables in police department and all the assistant constables of the state will get a regular pay scale.

3. In view of the Transfer Policy 2022, Cabinet has decided to constitute a Cabinet Sub-Committee, and on the basis of suggestion/recommendation of this sub-committee, the approval of the Hon'ble Chief Minister would be obtained.

4. Cabinet has approved the draft of Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2022, for the presentation of the first supplementary estimate year 2022-2023 in the Legislative Assembly.

5. The draft of the Salary and Allowances Amendment Bill 2022 of the Honorable Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader of the Opposition and Members of the Legislative Assembly was approved.

6. The draft of the amendment bill, 2022 in the Chhattisgarh Ministers (Salaries and Allowances) Act, 1972 was approved.

7. Cabinet has approved the proposal of increasing the limit under the voluntary grant of Hon'ble Chief Minister from Rs.40 crores to Rs.70 crores per annum.

8. The proposal to provide relaxation of 06 months in minimum period of 05 years for the promotion from area coordinator to the post of Chief Executive Officer, Janpad Panchayat was approved.

9. To meet the excise revenue target for the year 2022-23 as well as to meet the requirement of additional amount for the development of gauthans and other development activities, Cabinet has approved the proposal to increase the "Additional Excise Duty".

10. Necessary amendments were made in the process of granting compassionate appointment to the dependent family member in case of untimely death of the officers/employees of the dissolved Transport Corporation.

11. The proposal of Chhattisgarh Ground Water (Management and Regulation) Bill-2022, was approved.

12. Cabinet has approved the prooposal to extend the date for one-time settlement of tax dues on motor vehicles before and after the formation of Chhattisgarh State Scheme-2020 from April 1, 2022 to March 2023.

13. The proposal to exempt the outstanding road tax of Rs 99.95 lakh on city buses for a total of 24 months from April 2020 to March 2022 was approved.

14. Cabinet has approved the proposal to provide Stand Alone Rolling Mills under HV-4 category steel industry with the concession in energy cess under special relief package of State Government from 01 July 2022 to 31 March 2023, so that it may sustain the competition despite the challenges of industrial and economic slowdown.

15. The draft of the amendment bill in Chhattisgarh Electricity Duty Act, 1949 was approved.

SC refuses to pass interim order staying demolitions across states

New Delhi :(PTI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to pass an interim direction staying demolitions across states, and said it cannot pass an omnibus order preventing authorities from taking action.

A bench of Justices B R Gavai and P S Narasimha asked the parties to complete pleadings in the matter, and said it will hear the plea filed by the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind against demolitions on August 10

"Rule of law has to be followed, there is no dispute on that. But can we pass an omnibus order? If we pass such an omnibus order, will we not prevent the authorities from taking action against the violators," the bench said.

The top court was hearing pleas filed by the Muslim body seeking directions to the Uttar Pradesh government and other states to ensure that no further demolitions of properties of alleged accused in recent cases of violence are carried out.

CPM worker murder case: Kerala HC acquits 13 RSS workers

Kochi, Jul 13 (PTI) The Kerala High Court has acquitted 13 RSS workers in a case relating to the killing of a CPI(M) activist in Thiruvananthapuram in 2008, saying the prosecution had miserably failed to prove the incriminating circumstances against the accused.

A bench comprising Justices K Vinod Chandran and C Jayachandran, on Tuesday allowed the appeal filed by the RSS workers challenging a Sessions Court verdict convicting them.

The bench observed that the political rivalry was a simmering cauldron of intrigue, spite and deceit, often spewing out the venom of hatred, in the form of mindless bloodshed.

"The manner in which events were portrayed before the Court, smacks of a deliberate attempt to tutor witness and collect evidence, to define a scripted story. The sad saga of political rivalry and mindless killing, as we have noticed in many cases, tears under the social fabric of the State," it said.

"The yearly remembrances, only stoke the fires of rivalry and do not wipe the tears of the bereaved or awaken the conscience of those who matter. Another life is lost and yet another prosecution fails, both lying on the wayside, grim reminders to the society of the futility of it all. We cannot but acquit the accused of the charges levelled against them; the prosecution having miserably failed to prove the Incriminating circumstances against the accused."

"There is absolutely no evidence worth its salt, and the prosecution failed to prove any corroborative circumstance, but for the political rivalry existing between two groups," it added.

The court noted that the get-away of the accused was quick and the witnesses exaggerated the identification and the details of the get-away vehicles.

On December 16, 2016, the Additional Sessions court in Thiruvananthapuram had sentenced 13 RSS activists to double life imprisonment in connection with the murder of CPI(M) worker, V V Vishnu on April 1, 2008.

The lower court had found all the 13 accused guilty of murder of CPI(M) activist.

BJP has nothing to do with 'rebellion' in Goa Congress: CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji, (PTI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said the BJP has nothing to do with the "rebellion" in the state Congress Legislature Party.

On Sunday, five of the total 11 Congress MLAs in Goa went incommunicado, fuelling speculations about a split in the party.

But, they attended the monsoon session of the state Assembly which began on Monday and claimed there was "nothing wrong" in the opposition party.

Ten of the Congress MLAs also attended a meeting chaired by senior party leader Mukul Wasnik in Panaji on Monday night.

Some reporters outside the Assembly complex on Tuesday asked CM and senior BJP leader Sawant about developments in the state Congress.

?Let me reiterate that the BJP has nothing to do with the rebellion in the Congress Legislature Party,? Sawant said before walking away without answering any further questions.

After the five Congress MLAs -- Michael Lobo, Digambar Kamat, Kedar Naik, Rajesh Faldesai and Delialah Lobo -- went incommunicado on Sunday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had asked Wasnik to rush to Goa.

The Congress had accused Lobo and former chief minister Kamat of "conspiring and hobnobbing" with the ruling BJP to engineer a split in the grand old party's legislative wing.

The party also removed Lobo from the post of leader of opposition in the 40-member state Assembly.
