New Delhi, July 14, 2023 (Agency). Due to the severe floods in the Yamuna river in Delhi and NCR, many areas have been cut off due to large-scale flooding of residential areas.
After many decades, the danger has increased due to flood water filling Kashmiri Gate Bus Stand, Ring Road and residential areas in the stomach of Yamuna. The government has issued an alert regarding this.
Schools, colleges and other similar institutions have been closed in Delhi and NCR. People living in Yamuna Khadar have been given shelter in nearby public places and high dams.
The Delhi government has said that thousands of people living in the flood-affected areas of the Yamuna river in the city have been shifted to temporary shelters at safer places and are being provided food and water.
Delhi government's water minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that due to rise in the water level of Yamuna in Delhi, low-lying areas have been flooded. People affected by the rising water level have been shifted to East, North, Northeast, South East Central and Shahdara districts. More than 2700 tents have been arranged here for these people. He said that due to release of huge amount of water from Hathnikund in Haryana, the water level of Yamuna has increased.
Mr Bhardwaj said maximum number of tents have been set up in East district 1,700, North East Delhi district 280, Shahdara 170, Central 150 and South East district 384 among others to provide shelter to evacuees from low-lying areas of Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called an emergency meeting on Tuesday. The Yamuna river is currently flowing above the danger mark. Its water level had reached 205.33 meters on Monday evening.
On the other hand, keeping in view the security, the movement of trains going from Old Delhi to Ghaziabad via Shahdara has been stopped from 6 am on Tuesday. Amid Rising Prices, Centre To Source Tomatoes From Andhra, K'taka, Maharashtra
New Delhi: Amid spiralling prices of tomatoes across the country due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from where bulk of supplies arrive, the Centre has sought procurement of tomatoes from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Tomato stocks will be distributed through retail outlets at discounted prices to the consumers in Delhi-NCR region by Friday, Consumer Affairs Ministry officials said. The Ministry has directed the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) and National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) to immediately procure tomatoes from mandis in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra, for simultaneous distribution in major consumption centres where retail prices have recorded maximum increase in the last one month. Currently, the supplies coming to markets in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and some other states are mostly from Maharashtra especially Satara, Narayangaon, and Nashik, which is expected to last till this month-end. Tomato supplies in Delhi-NCR are mainly from Himachal Pradesh and some also come from Kolar, Karnataka. New crop arrivals are expected soon from Nashik district, official sources said. In addition to this, additional supply is expected to arrive from the Narayangaon and Aurangabad belt. Madhya Pradesh arrivals are also expected to start. Prices are anticipated to cool down in the near future accordingly, they added. Though tomato prices have been on a high since the last one month, the Consumer Affairs Ministry had said few weeks ago that they will stabilise by mid-July, as supplies were expected from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. However owing to heavy rain and floods in both the states, tomato prices continue to hit the roof, forcing the Centre to source supplies from the southern and western states. Tomato is produced almost in all the states in India, though in varying quantities. Its maximum production is in southern and western regions of India, which contribute 56 per cent to 58 per cent of all India production. Southern and western regions being surplus states, feed to other markets depending on production seasons. The production seasons are also different across regions. The peak harvesting season occurs from December to February. The periods during July-August and October-November are generally the lean production months for tomato. The month of July coinciding with the monsoon season, adds to further challenges related to distribution and increased transit losses, thus leading to price rise. —
Srinagar: The Amarnath yatra resumed on Sunday from Panjtarni and Sheshnag base camps after remaining suspended for three days due to inclement weather in Kashmir, officials said here.
As soon as the skies cleared around the cave shrine, the authorities opened the gates and allowed the stranded devotees to offer prayers at the naturally formed ice-lingam in south Kashmir Himalayas, they said.
"Those devotees who had already performed 'darshan' have been allowed to return to Baltal base camp," a senior official at the Panjtarni base camp told PTI over phone.
The Army has sheltered more than 700 Amarnath pilgrims at its camp in Qazigund in Anantnag district after they were stranded due to heavy rainfall in the valley.
Earlier, in the day no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed from Jammu owing to inclement weather and closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, officials said.
Efforts are on to restore traffic on the highway which was blocked by multiple landslides and washing away of nearly 40-metre road stretch in Ramban district, leaving over 3,500 vehicles stranded, officials said.
While most parts of Jammu and Kashmir experienced incessant rains since Thursday night, some areas near the high altitude Amarnath shrine recorded snowfall as well.
According to the meteorological department, the weather is likely to improve from Monday.
The officials said the clearance operation along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was hampered by incessant rains.
“The operation to clear the landslide debris and bypass the damaged portion of the road near Panthiyal tunnel through old road alignment is going on. Frequent shooting of stones from the hillocks overlooking the highway at Panthiyal delayed the restoration work,” a traffic department official said.
He said stranded vehicles will be cleared on priority once the road is made trafficable before allowing fresh traffic from Jammu and Srinagar.
The official said a fresh landslide at Ratta Chamb has blocked the Mughal road.
The road was cleared for traffic late afternoon on Saturday but was again blocked due to a fresh landslide, the official said, adding the clearance operation is on. —PTI

New Delhi, 6 July 2023, (Agency) । Former Union Minister of State and MP Ajay Tamta said that in 2024, BJP will form a government with thumping majority under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Tamta said this during an exclusive interview.
Talking about the achievements of the nine years of the Modi government, the former Union Minister said that the respect of the country has increased on the global stage today. Due to the untiring efforts of the Prime Minister, the 140 crore people of India feels proud. The MP said that new AIIMS, seven other IITs and more than 400 medical colleges were established in the country. Along with this, important works are being done at to renovated hostorical sites and religious places including construction of grand Ram temple and Kashi Corridor. The government has done their best in bringing prosperity on the face of the poor by giving schemes like cooking gas connection and toilet in every houshold.
On the question of the challenge from the grand alliance from opposition in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the MP said that in the 75 years of independence of the country, some political parties ruled for 54 years but gave more importance to familes and dynasty politics. This is the reason why these parties have been rejected by people. However, I wonder if they could have shown the same passion during their tenure, the scenario would have been different. It is not possible to stop the winning chariot of BJP by Grand Alliance. The whole country has understood the intentionbof opposition and knows that there is no better alternative than BJP. Modi government only works in the interest of the country and is moving in a rightful direction, working for betterment of the society.
Answering to the question of the challenges of passing the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand, MP Tamta responded that Uniform Civil Code means having equal law for every citizen living in India, irrespective of religion or caste. We have made a better effort in Uttarakhand under the leadership of Pushkar Dhami ji.
The way Lord Ram's temple is being built, Vishwanath ji's temple was built in Kashi, triple talaq and Article 370 ended, similarly Uniform Civil Code will also be implemented.
This is included in the manifesto of our party from the very beginning.L.S.

Darbhanga, July 5, 2023 (Agency). Mithila, flooded by the flowing water of seven rivers since ancient times, has also started to remain dry. Due to this dryness, the villagers use motors in tubewells to supply water to the river for the devotees at Jiv Chhaghat a place of religious importance.
A unique inspiring incident came to the fore in the river walk organized by World Natural Democracy, when the yatra reached Jivchhaghat in the first stop from Kakarghati, some water was seen under the bridge, which was surrounded by mud and deposited. On enquiring, it was found that due to the complete drying up of the river, there was a lot of difficulty for the devotees coming here from far off places. They did not get water. Then the local people bought a motor for ten thousand rupees in the tubewell of their house with mutual cooperation and took out water through that motor and gave it to the river, so that the devotees could not face any difficulty said Former Principal Vidyanath Jha here , today.
Those who collect water in the river told that devotees come here from the neighboring country Nepal, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Hasanpur etc., they feel disappointed after coming here, because there is no water in the river, for this purpose a motor was installed by donating and water was arranged in the dry river.
For this commendable work, Jagdish Sahni, Shambhu Sahni and Ram Narayan Sahni were garlanded by environmentalist Narayan ji Chowdhary, the director of the campaign to save the pond in the third phase of the river satyagraha, and the botanist Prof. Jha, who came as the chief guest, covered him with a shawl was awarded. On the other hand, Jitendra Sahni and Rajdev Sahni, who could not reach to receive honor in the meeting of River Satyagraha, Dr. Javed Abdullah, President of World Natural Democracy, himself went to Jivchaghat and honored them. Change in thinking is require for development of Bihar: Pathak.

Vijay Kumar
Journalist.
Darbhanga, June 16, 2023 (Agency). Famous social worker Arvind Pathak said that there is a need to change the thinking of people for the development of Bihar, today.
He said that the biggest irony of this province is that people here vote on the basis of caste and religion instead of collective interest, then where is the matter of overall development left ? Mr. Pathak said this during an interview here.
Mr. Pathak, who was the carrier of many national movements, said that these two things have been effective here since independence. This is the reason why Bihar, despite being a talented and proud state, is a sick state. It has become the biggest labor exporting state, which is very painful.
When asked about the initiative being taken in this direction by election strategist Prashant Kishor, Mr. Pathak said that this effort is fine, but change is impossible until people rise above the politics of caste and religion and vote. They are capable of doing it. They should take initiative in this direction. Only then they will be able to succeed in their mission.
When asked what he should do for this? Mr. Pathak said that there are people of all castes and religions who are concerned about the situation in Bihar. Change can be brought about by bringing them on one platform. L.S.

In his address to the mega event of National Ramayana Festival, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that Lord Shri Ram spent 10 years of his exile in Chhattisgarh. And during the exile, Shri Ram faced extreme hardships and difficulties but he never lost the sight of his moral values and dignity. Chief Minister inaugurated the three-day 'National Ramayana Festival' today at a grand function organized at the historic Ramleela Maidan in the city of arts and literature, Raigarh. On this occasion, he said that our Chhattisgarh is the state of Mata Kaushalya and Mata Shabri. This is the land of tribals and forest dwellers who have been living here for centuries. When Shri Ram was supposed to be crowned as a King, he had to go on exile. During his exile, Shri Ram met Nishadraj, Shabri Mata and several sages and ascetics. We in Chhattisgarh relate to both 'Vanvasi Ram' as well as 'Kaushalya's Ram'. As Chhattisgarh is the birthplace of Mata Kaushalya, Shri Ram is considered as 'Bhancha' (nephew) in Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister further said that we have written a letter to the Chief Ministers of all those states where there are pilgrimage sites and we have requested for 2 acres of land there, so as to arrange for proper facilities for the pilgrims from Chhattisgarh to stay there.
