The number of dengue patients is increasing day by day in Bangladesh. Dengue deaths are also increasing. As a result, dengue will spread dangerously in that country through people going from Bangladesh to West Bengal

The municipality of Kolkata fears this. .

And so the Kolkata municipality has written to the state government to make dengue test mandatory for Bangladeshis visiting West Bengal in order to prevent dengue. The letter said that the state government should talk to the central government about the matter.

Dengue outbreaks have increased over the past few weeks in West Bengal, especially in densely populated areas in and around Kolkata. There have even been cases of death from dengue.

Kolkata Mayor and State Minister Firhad Hakim called an emergency meeting today with the concerned parties to prepare and find ways to deal with dengue, malaria and other diseases.

Kolkata Deputy Mayor Atin Ghosh said, “Dengue is spreading dangerously in neighboring countries, especially in Dhaka. I have spoken to the authorities in Dhaka about the matter. We will write to the state health department asking the Center to immediately set up blood testing centers at all immigration points.”

SAARC Journalist Forum is an international organization of journalists made up of journalists from eight SAARC countries. This organization periodically organizes International Journalists Summit every year in SAARC countries.

"South Asia Media Summit-2024" is likely to be held in Dhaka in February/March 2024.

8 Cosmetics business organizations fined Tk 89,000 and fake cosmetics worth Tk 2.5 lakh were arrested in a mobile court in Bismillah Tower's cosmetic shops of Noakhali Super Market, Town Hall and Maijadi Bazar. The court was administered by Md. Roknuzzaman Khan (Ruknuzzaman Khan Rukon and Ruhul Amin Rijbi), Executive Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner's Office, Noakhali assisted in running mobile courts - Deoband Sinha, Assistant Director, National Consumer Rights Protection Sudharam Model Police Station Police assisted in protecting the Department, Noakhali and law and order.

On the basis of secret information, the operation was conducted at Tanaha Beauty Cosmetics in the Town Hall area of Noakhali District. Kathmandu. Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" has said that the real representative of the poor, disadvantaged and oppressed classes is the party Maoist Center and its leadership.

Addressing the World Newar Day program held in Kathmandu on Saturday afternoon, the Prime Minister Dahal said that the poor and oppressed class should be able to recognize their actual representatives.

In the program, the Prime Minister Dahal said, "Constitutional system with federalism, republic, secularism, inclusion and proportional features has been made on the strength of Nepalese people's sacrifice."

However, the current constitution is not as complete as we would like. My party and I fought to establish identity and rights in the new constitution, he said.

"We played a decisive role for whatever rights were written. If there is a sincere and continuous organized effort, the remaining rights to be institutionalized in the constitution will gradually be established. Therefore, it is important for all oppressed classes, castes and communities to know well who their true representatives are," said Prime Minister Dahal.

As many as 29 people were killed and at least 85 injured after two trains collided head-on in Greece late on Tuesday, reported CNN.

At least 29 people were killed and more than 85 injured when a passenger train carrying more than 350 people collided with a freight train on Tuesday evening, shortly before midnight, in Tempi, central Greece, near the city of Larissa, the Greek Fire Service said. Recovery efforts are underway and the death toll is expected to rise, the Greek Fire Service said.

“Due to the severity of the collision between the two trains, crane-carrying vehicles are assisting in the extrication work,” the Fire Brigade said in a statement.

Greek Fire Service spokesman Vassilis Varthakogiannis said that 194 passengers had been taken safely to Thessaloniki, reported CNN.

At least 150 firefighters with 17 vehicles and 40 ambulances are involved in the rescue operation, he added.

The passenger train had been travelling from the capital Athens to Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, which is renowned for its festivals and vibrant cultural life.

The collision follows a nationwide carnival at the weekend which ended with a public holiday on Monday, reported CNN.

Authorities said it is still not clear what led to the collision.

Hellenic Train, the main Greek railway company, was acquired by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane in 2017 and is now fully controlled by Trenitalia. The company operates both passenger and freight transport. The main line on which daily connections are offered is Athens-Thessaloniki.

Kathmandu, Dec 27 (PTI) Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday called the first session of the new Parliament on January 9 after the country went to polls on November 20. This will be the first Parliament session after the appointment of Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" as the new prime minister of the landlocked nation on Monday.

President's Office spokesperson Sagar Acharya said the session will be held under Article 93 (1) of the Constitution.

The first cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Prachanda on Monday recommended the president for calling the new parliament session. Prachanda was on Monday sworn in as the Prime Minister of Nepal for the third time, a day after the former guerrilla leader dramatically walked out of the pre-poll alliance led by the Nepali Congress and joined hands with opposition leader K P Sharma Oli. The 68-year-old CPN-Maoist Centre chairman was appointed as the country's new prime minister on Sunday after he submitted a letter to President Bhandari showing the support of 169 members in the 275-member House of Representatives.

He said that all sorts of construction works were completed and the MRT Line-6 was ready for commercial operation.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTC), a Bangladeshi state-owned enterprise is behind the 20.1-km metro, with work being carried out by domestic firms as well as Indian Thai, Chinese and Japanese companies.

Bangladesh borrowed funds from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance the metro rail project in stages.

The metro will eventually cover large parts of the capital city.

Overseas visits of Gotabaya, Mahinda Rajapaksa cost Sri Lanka LKR 40mn in 2021: Report

Five foreign visits undertaken by former Sri Lanka Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last year cost the state exchequer over 40 million Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR), according to a report by Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror.

This report is based on details provided by the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office on a directive issued by the Right to Information Commission.

Gotabaya and Mahinda, who were ousted from power after a large-scale uprising, spent a staggering LKR 44, 739,184.91 for five official visits abroad in 2021.

The Daily Mirror report said the initial request to the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office in January this year, under the Right to Information, Act was rejected.

Out of LKR 44 million, over LKR 36 million had been spent by former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa for two visits abroad.

Meanwhile, Mahinda’s brother and former President Gotabaya had spent LKR 7 million for three official visits overseas.

According to the Sri Lankan publication, the cost of the former Prime Minister’s official visits amounted to 83 per cent of the total expenditure.

The expenditure on Mahinda Rajapaksa’s visits abroad had been much higher due to the large entourage that accompanied the former Sri Lankan PM overseas, including his family members and friends.

This report comes as Sri Lanka faces an economic crisis that has particularly impacted food security, agriculture, livelihoods, and health services.

This month, the United Nations (UN) team in Sri Lanka and non-governmental organizations revised and extended their joint Humanitarian Needs and Priorities (HNP) Plan, which aims to provide life-saving assistance to 3.4 million people, amid the country’s worst economic crisis since independence.

Governments and donor agencies have helped the humanitarian community reach over 1 million of the country’s most vulnerable people with cash, food, school meals, medicine, protection, and livelihood support.

Islamabad, Nov 27 (PTI) Pakistan’s top investigative agency on Sunday arrested Azam Swati, a senior leader of former prime minister Imran Khan's party for the second time in less than two months for his “highly obnoxious” campaign against senior military officials.

Swati was previously arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in October for a controversial tweet thought to be against the armed forces.

Since he was released on bail, the senator has maintained that he was allegedly tortured in custody and has demanded the removal of two military officials, one of whom he used foul language against in his tweet Saturday, the Dawn newspaper reported.

Deuba, 77, secured 25,534 votes against his nearest rival Sagar Dhakal, 31, an independent candidate who received 1,302 votes. Deuba has never lost any parliamentary election in his five decades of political career.

Dhakal is a young engineer, who had a verbal squabble with Deuba during a public debate at a BBC's Sajha Sawal programme five years ago, after which he decided to challenge Deuba saying that now youths should get chance in politics and senior people like Deuba should get rest.
