Entertainment News : The spirit of Shardiya Navratri soared to new heights as television beauty Nyrraa M Banerji turned heads in a fiery red Bengali saree, radiating the divine energy of Maa Durga, while joining none other than Kajol — the eternal queen of hearts and a proud Bengali — for darshan at a traditional Durga Puja pandal.
In a celebration that beautifully merged glam, grace, and goddess energy, both women were spotted offering prayers and soaking in the sacredness of the occasion — one as a devoted daughter of the culture, and the other as an admirer of its rich spiritual traditions.

Kajol, the OG Bengali diva, is known for her deep-rooted Durga Puja traditions. This year, her presence brought a sense of nostalgia and authenticity to the pandal,Nyrraa, who visited the pandal for darshan, was not just mesmerized by the grandeur of the celebration but also felt truly honored to have shared the moment with Kajol herself.
In a heartfelt quote, Nyrraa shared:
“I’ve always admired Kajol ma’am — not just for her iconic roles, but for how deeply rooted she is in her culture. Meeting her at the pandal today felt like a blessing in itself. It was lovely to seek Maa Durga’s blessings together — the energy, the devotion, the people… it was all so magical and humbling.”

Draped in red — the color of divine feminine power — Nyrraa joined the devotees with folded hands and eyes brimming with gratitude. The air was filled with dhaak beats, sindoor fragrance, and the powerful chants of “Jai Maa Durga!” as both women mirrored the true spirit of the season — strong, graceful, and deeply connected to the divine.
Their presence together became a visual representation of Shakti — the celebration of feminine power, tradition, and inner strength.
As Navratri continues to unite hearts through devotion, this moment shared by Nyrraa M Banerji and Kajol is a glowing reminder that faith knows no boundaries, and when women come together in prayer, the energy is nothing short of divine.

"Girls Will Be Girls": A film that presents mental health issues from a new perspective

Girls Will Be Girls movie review: Featuring an electric central performance by newcomer Preeti Panigrahi, director Shuchi Talati's debut film is among the best of the year.
Like its protagonist, director Shuchi Talati’s Girls Will Be Girls is a constantly evolving entity. But behind an outer veneer of control, there is burgeoning angst, a simmering chaos, and a terrible desire to be seen and heard. The psychological drama played to an uncommonly interactive packed crowd at the Dharamshala International Film Festival recently — it was a bizarre screening that exemplified how important it is to watch movies in a community environment. Often, these experiences reveal more about society than the films themselves.
Set in an unnamed hill station boarding school, Girls Will Be Girls follows the 16-year-old Mira, played by Preeti Panigrahi in perhaps the year’s most revelatory performance in an Indian film. Mira’s ingrained conservatism is probably the biggest reason behind her appointment as the school’s Head Prefect. Her duties involve reciting an oath at the morning assemblies — the oath includes something about upholding ‘Indian values’ — and reprimanding fellow students for stepping out of line, sometimes literally. Her slavish devotion to discipline makes Mira both unpopular among her peers, but extremely fascinating to the boys.
She can be severe on the surface, and not above tattling to the principal about her closest friends. But Mira is also incredibly vulnerable, as most young people her age tend to be. The illusion of control that she has given herself is wrenched from her grasp when she comes across a transfer student named Sri. Played by Kesav Binoy Kiron, Sri has travelled the world thanks to his diplomat father, and has now been sent to India to start afresh. He’s charming, well-spoken, and has a warmth about him. But to Mira, who is caught in the throes of adolescence, Sri becomes an object of desire.
An innocent romance blossoms. Glances are stolen on the rooftop during a star-gazing session — perhaps a nod to Harry Potter’s escapades atop the astronomy tower? — and sweet nothings are whispered behind tall bookracks in the library. Unlike most other students at the boarding school, Mira divides her time between dorm rooms and home, where she lives with her mother, Anila (Kani Kusruti). As a former student at the same school, Anila immediately sniffs out what’s happening the moment her daughter mentions Sri. But after issuing a customary warning about distracting boys — Mira has a reputation as a model student to uphold, after all Anila relents, insisting on a meeting before things can proceed.
Eat everything she gives you, she likes that,” Mira instructs Sri before the all-important meeting. And as expected, Sri charms her socks off. An impressed Anila allows her daughter to ‘study’ with him at home, under her perceived supervision, of course. She probably views this as an opportunity to bond with her teenage daughter, whom she feels is growing distant. It’s almost as if she begins to view herself as a conspirator, pulling the wool over strict faculty’s eyes on Mira’s behalf. But a part of her wants to relive her girlhood vicariously through her daughter; a girlhood that she was presumably denied by her own parents. And this is when the film takes an unexpected turn.
As Mira and Sri’s puppy love evolves into, as she puts it, ‘big-dog love’, Talati introduces a rich new layer to their relationship. Sri begins to spend more and more time at her home, and gradually, appears to grow closer to Anila as well. It begins innocently enough, with them having conversations independently of Mira, sharing refreshments while she studies alone in her room — Anila appears to almost be oblivious of her daughter on some occasions — but a few weeks later, their interactions take a downright sinister tone. Lines are most definitely crossed, especially during a sleepover when Mira puts her foot down and refuses to relinquish her room. As tensions escalate between mother and daughter — neither of them seems to have the vocabulary or the wisdom to really understand what’s happening — Talati’s precise filmmaking does most of the talking.
The sudden burst of moral ambiguity elevates Girls Will Be Girls into something more special than a plain-old coming-of-age movie. A character who would’ve remained a supporting presence otherwise is given a great deal of complexity by Talati, whose immaculate framing and fixation on hands — yes, hands — enhance the perverse thrills that she is able to conjure through silences. And as she displayed so wonderfully in the acclaimed All We Imagine As Light, Kusruti makes for a haunting presence — a perfect foil to the delicate hope that Panigrahi projects on screen. The young actor is so evocative as she shoots daggers at Kusruti, separated by walls, peeping through cracks in the door, in close proximity but visibly disconnected.
The tonal tightrope walk would’ve tripped more seasoned filmmakers. But Talati displays incredible restraint in her storytelling. She judges neither Sri nor Anila in the latter half of the film; nor does she abandon Mira — both in school and at home. Instead, she aims for broad empathy, highlighting the loneliness that inspires human connection in the most unexpected of circumstances. (Agency)

I Want to Talk movie review: Abhishek Bachchan lets go of vanity, revealing a thickened gut, and scars-on-the-belly, and an ability to bare. But Shoojit Sircar's film leaves you wanting more.
Going into ‘I Want To Talk’, I had no idea that that the character Abhishek Bachchan plays is based on an actual person called Arjun Sen. That knowledge would have added a certain layer to the story of a man who bests certain death- a diagnosis of laryngeal cancer and the consequent grim prognosis of a limited future—and is still around on planet earth.
A valid question arises, after you’re done: anyone surviving 19-20 tough surgeries, and finding the energy to bring up a daughter, and run a marathon, is worthy of respect, but is that enough to engage us for two hours? Director Shoojit Sircar has an affinity for characters dealing with life-and-death situations, set in the innards of hospitals (October), as well as exploring filial connections (Piku). Both themes are here, but the depth and emotion which elevate his plots surface only occasionally.
Bachchan’s Arjun Sen, a US-based marketing honcho who thinks life is all about manipulating suckers, feels like an interesting, if not very likeable individual, in the initial few minutes he spends in his office, rapping out instructions, and sacking a sobbing junior who ‘wasn’t good enough’.
Post diagnosis, as Arjun gets into his long, arduous journey of repeat surgeries involving practically every organ, while trying to parent Reya (Pearle Dey), he turns into a patient. And that’s pretty much what happens in the first half: Arjun wheeling in his trusty brown leather trolley for yet another appointment with the knife, followed by bouts of chemo and radiotherapy, and the pain and discomfort that goes with the territory; Arjun coming back home, and settling in, readying for the next.
It’s only much later when there’s a spike in our interest again, when we see him having vaulted past the doctor-patient constraints with his crusty surgeon (Jayant Kriplani), his daughter now a spirited teenager (Ahilya Bamroo), his continuing banter with a local handyman (Johnny Lever), and his close relationship with his nurse (Kristin Goddard). Bachchan gets a couple of solid scenes, which lift a performance better than anything else he’s done so far. He lets go of vanity, revealing a thickened gut, and scars-on-the-belly, and an ability to bare.
Sircar doesn’t get into melodrama, which is good, and there’s no sad background music to tell us when to feel, which is even better. But the film is restricted, for the most part, to being a two-hander between father and daughter (both Dey and Bamroo do their job well): as soon as it broadens its ambit and includes other characters, even if for a few moments, it feels fuller. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 review
The ABP Live review of the film reads: The film starts off slow, and the humour feels forced, almost irritating, but it picks up with the entry of Madhuri Dixit, bringing new life to the screen. The second half especially shines with an entertaining mix of nostalgia and suspense. Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit breathe energy into the narrative, and while the comedy isn’t as punchy as hoped, the story’s twists and moral message manage to engage. Kartik’s character feels repetitive initially, as though he’s repeating beats from the previous film, but he surprises in the end, wrapping up the story on a strong note.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ stars Vidya Balan, who returns as the unforgettable Manjulika, along with Madhuri Dixit Nene, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, and Ashwini Kalsekar. This third installment brings back Vidya’s legendary character, 17 years after the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa directed by Priyadarshan, starring Akshay Kumar. (Agency)

Mumbai : The South regional entertainment sector is filled with glamorous and gorgeous beauties who have been ruling the fashion arena since eternity. As far as the South industry in particular is concerned, the three divas who are literally rocking like never before are Rashmika Mandanna, Parul Yadav and Nayanthara.
Rashmika Mandanna: Our very own 'Srivalli' is known for her simplicity and her connect with the youth. Her strength lies in her simplicity and no wonder, we love the way she carries off simple t-shirts, denims and lehengas. She doesn't believe in 'OTT' fashion and that is what makes her a star.
Parul Yadav: If there is one actress on this list who is the perfect culmination of a super fit and hot body along with a stylish fashion game, it is Parul Yadav. She sweats it out in the gym to look the way she does and it is all thanks to her perfect hourglass figure, she literally rocks anything and everything in style like never before. Some time back, her pictures in a high-chic black saree, flaunting her curvy midriff with abs and well, her beautiful navel was the 'cherry on top' for her fans. Be it western outfits or ethnic lehengas and sarees, she is definitely 10/10 everywhere and that is why, we cannot take our eyes off this natural beauty whenever she is in her form.
Nayanthara: Last but not the least, if it is a list of fashion queens of the south then we have to talk about Nayanthara. Her strength lies in how she keeps things subtle and easy and often we see her draped in stylish and elegant sarees. His ethnic game is even stronger than the 'Hulk' and no wonder he has a massive fan following down South. A must-have inclusion in our exclusive list.

Mumbai : Haseena Parkar was the sister of notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Known as the "Godmother of Nagpada," she became a prominent figure in Mumbai's underworld following her brother's rise to power and subsequent escape from India. Haseena was implicated in various criminal activities, including extortion and land grabbing. Despite being a feared figure, she also managed to evade law enforcement for much of her life, living in relative obscurity until her death in 2014.
Reel Life: The film "Haseena Parkar," directed by Apoorva Lakhia and released in 2017, stars Shraddha Kapoor in the titular role. The movie portrays Haseena's transformation from an innocent girl to a powerful underworld figure, largely influenced by her brother's criminal empire. It dramatizes her personal and professional struggles, emphasizing her role as a devoted sister and a formidable woman in a male-dominated world. While the film attempts to humanize Haseena, it takes creative liberties to enhance the narrative and add dramatic flair, which may not entirely reflect the complexities of her real-life persona.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha: Real vs. Reel
Real Life: "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" is inspired by the real-life struggles of many Indian women who face significant challenges due to the lack of proper sanitation facilities in rural areas. The story is particularly influenced by the tale of Anita Narre from Madhya Pradesh, who left her husband's home due to the absence of a toilet, prompting a movement towards building toilets and improving sanitation in their village. This reflects the larger issue of open defecation in India and the government's efforts to address it through initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission).
Reel Life: The 2017 film, directed by Shree Narayan Singh, stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar as a newlywed couple, Keshav and Jaya, who face marital discord due to the absence of a toilet in their home. The film follows Keshav's journey to construct a toilet and the various societal and bureaucratic obstacles he encounters. It dramatizes the couple's struggle and aims to spread awareness about the importance of sanitation. While the movie is based on real issues and events, it incorporates fictional elements and comedic sequences to make the story more engaging and palatable for a broader audience, ensuring the message reaches a wider population.
