Honour has made every Indian very proud: on Golden Globe win for 'RRR' track

New Delhi, Jan 11 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated the "RRR" team after its hit track "Naatu Naatu" won a Golden Globe award and said the prestigious honour had made every Indian very proud. The song from the blockbuster film bagged the 'best original song-motion picture' award. It is the first Indian production to win a Golden Globe.

"A very special accomplishment! Compliments to @mmkeeravaani, Prem Rakshith, Kaala Bhairava, Chandrabose, @Rahulsipligunj. I also congratulate @ssrajamouli, @tarak9999, @AlwaysRamCharan and the entire team of @RRRMovie . This prestigious honour has made every Indian very proud," the prime minister tweeted.

S S Rajamouli's hit film "RRR" was also nominated in the best picture-non English category but lost to "Argentina, 1985". Composed by veteran music director MM Keeravaani, "Naatu Naatu" has been a rage ever since the release of the Ram Charan and Jr NTR-fronted "RRR" last March. "Naatu Naatu” is on the Oscar shortlist along with 14 others.

MUMBAI : In the upcoming episode of 'Bigg Boss 16', show's host and superstar Salman Khan will be seen reprimanding contestant Archana Gautam for the statement she made on Sumbul Touqeer Khan and Shalin Bhanot and their looks.

Salman asked Archana: "Archana you are flying too high with your attitude. For Sumbul, you said 'Shakal dekhkar rani raja banao'. Everybody in India knows this face and because of this face, many people know her. Aap apne aap ko samajhti kya hain? For Shalin, you said 'he has a face like a dog'!"

Shalin tried to put his point but Salman asked him not to, before finally screaming: "I said not now!"

MUMBAI : It hasn't been long since Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's unfortunate demise had rocked the nation. The singer was shot dead in Punjab's Moga district reportedly by Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. Later, there were reports that the Bishnoi gang has also been giving life threats to Salman Khan. And now, as per recent reports, the Maharashtra government has upgraded the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor's security. Reportedly, Salman has been given Y+ security now following which four armed security personnel have been assigned for the actor's security.

For the uninitiated, Salman's father Salim Khan had got a threat letter in June this year. The threat letter read, "Tumhara Moose Wala kar denge (You will end up like Moose Wala)". Following this, a case for registered under Section 506-II (Criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at the Bandra Police Station. In light of the security concerns, Salman Khan's fans have been upgraded. As per a report published in India Today, two guards will accompany Salman everywhere he goes, while two have been assigned to his residence. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher have also been given X security wherein there will be three security officers protecting them in shifts.

Meanwhile, talking about the work front, Salman, who was last seen in Chiranjeevi's GodFather, will be next seen in Farhad Samji's much talked about Kisi Ki Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The movie is said to be a remake of Veeram and will also star Shehnaaz Gill, Pooja Hegde, Jassie Gill, Raghav Juyal and Vijayendra Singh in the lead. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is expected to release on Eid next year.

Besides, Salman is also working on the much awaited third installment of the Tiger franchise with Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. The movie will have Tiger and Katrina will be seen reprising their respective roles in Tiger 3 while Emraan will reportedly play the role of a lead antagonist. The movie will mark Katrina and Salman's seventh collaboration after Maine Pyaar Kyun Kia, Partner, Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, Yuvraaj and Bharat.

RRR Japan Box Office Collection Latest Update

RRR Japan Box Office Collection Week 1: SS Rajamouli’s RRR is going places. Literally. The film has now registered the biggest-ever first-week collection at the Japan Box Office where it was released on October 21 amid a great buzz. The film, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, has grossed over Rs 1100 crore worldwide and in Japan, it is running on over 209 screens including 31 IMAX across 44 locations.

As reported by Variety, RRR has collected around Rs 4.05 crore in its first week at the Japan Box Office which counts to JPY73 million and $495K. This means that the period drama is the first Indian film to have clocked such a massive week one in Japan. If it continues with its run at the Box Office, the SS Rajamouli-directorial will become Japan’s top third Indian movie. Currently, the third top Indian movie in Japan of all time is Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots which grossed JPY170 million in its lifetime run at the Japan Box Office.

'Bigg Boss 16': Salman offers Gautam captaincy but with a 'price'

Mumbai: The upcoming episode of the controversial show 'Bigg Boss 16' holds a lot of shockers as contestant Gautam Vig will be seen taking up captaincy in return of all the ration in the house.

During the "saam daam dand bhed" segment on 'Bigg Boss 16', Salman will be seen offering captainship to Gautam, but it comes with "daam" - the entire ration of the house.

Gautam without thinking twice takes up the offer. The entire house is against him including his lady love Soundarya Sharma.

Housemates such as Sajid Khan and Priyanka Choudhary, among others, were in deep shock and said that Gautam should've thought about the house.

Gautam's reaction to that was that he said he did not think and I was under pressure.

After Gautam's decision to take up the captaincy in exchange of all the ration in the house, Salman did not have a reaction to it.

Shruti Haasan to star in international movie 'The Eye'

Mumbai, Oct 21 (PTI) Actor Shruti Haasan will be headlining the international feature film "The Eye", to be directed by Daphne Schmon.

The psychological thriller, which hails from Fingerprint Content, will feature actor Mark Rowley of "The Last Kingdom" fame opposite Haasan, reported entertainment news website Deadline.

Haasan also shared the news in a post on Instagram.

"Super stoked to be a part of 'the eye' with the loveliest team !!! Storytelling is my fave thing in this whole world and to be a part of this one is pure...

Upon learning the true nature of what may have claimed his life, she is tempted by a dark choice that could bring him back.

The cast also includes Anna Savva, Linda Marlowe and Christos Stergioglou. The movie will start shooting in Athens and Corfu later this month.

Haasan will next be seen in filmmaker Prashanth Neel's upcoming directorial "Salaar", co-starring Prabhas.

Among others, the one who is grabbing great attention is popular Rajasthani dancer and performer, Gori Nagori whose original name is Gori Malik. Gori Nagori was born as Taslima Bano on June 11, 1990 in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. She did her early studies from Ghotiya Higher Secondary School, Nagpur and holds an undergraduate degree in Arts from Jai Narayan Vyas University in Jodhpur. At the age of 9, she started taking dance lessons and has always been fascinated in taking up the art as a profession. But coming from a conservative Muslim family who struggled to make ends meet, it was very difficult for her to convince her parents about her love for dance. She had to fight with her family and society to build up her dance career all by herself.

Speaking about her passion, Gori shared, “People around me would always say dancing is a vulgar act and it shows my bad character but I never took the criticisms seriously. I started with small shows and continued my struggle.”

The Rajasthani dancer rose to fame in 2018, when she got featured in a popular Rajasthani song ‘Le Photo Le’. The song went viral and Gori became a popular face in Rajasthan. She has been an avid admirer of Shakira and often her dance moves are inspired by Shakira’s style. So, her fans often regard her as ‘Rajasthani Shakira’.

Bigg Boss 16 came as a big break to her career. She revealed that when the first call came to her from Big Boss, she mistook it to be a prank call. Then it took a series of meetings for her to believe it to be real. Apart from exhibiting her dancing skills, Nagori is focused on standing out in the Bigg Boss house showing her real self.

Talking about her strategy of handling fights inside the Bigg Boss house, the dancer shared that she has patience to deal with things calmly, but if someone purposely tries to provoke her, she knows how to give it back.

Gori also revealed the names of her favourite Bigg Boss contestants from the previous seasons. The list includes Shehnaaz Gill, Shilpa Shinde, Hina Khan, Manveer Gurjar and also Sapna Choudhary. Her dance videos often feature her matching steps with Sapna Choudhary.

Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan' to release in February 2023

Mumbai, Oct 1 (PTI) Superstar Ajay Devgn on Saturday announced that his highly-anticipated film "Maidaan" will now arrive in theatres on February 17, 2023.

Based on the golden years of Indian football, the movie tackles the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim (Devgn), who served as a coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until his death in 1963.

Devgn, who recently won his third National Award for best actor for his performance in "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior", shared the new release date of "Maidaan" on Twitter.

"Experience the true story of an unknown hero, Syed Abdul Rahim who brought glory to India. #Maidaan releasing on 17th February, 2023," the 53-year-old wrote.

The sports drama has been postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was previously set for release in June this year.

The film is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma of the Badhai Ho fame with screenplay and dialogues by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah, respectively.

Maidaan also features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and noted Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh.

The film is presented by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor, who serves as the producer along with Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta.

Ajay Devgn, Tabu conclude shooting of 'Bholaa'

Mumbai, Aug 27 (PTI) Actors Ajay Devgn and Tabu have completed filming for their upcoming movie "Bholaa", the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit "Kaithi".

Tabu shared the news of the movie's production wrap in a post on Instagram on Friday night alongside a photo with Devgn from the sets.

"Look!! We finished our 9th film together! #wewrap #bholaa @ajaydevgn @adffilms" the 51-year-old actor wrote in the caption.

The two actors previously shared screen space in movies such as "Vijaypath", "Vijaypath" (1994), "Haqeeqat" (1995), "Thakshak" (1999), "Drishyam" (2015), "Golmaal Again" (2017), and "De De Pyaar De" (2019). They will also star together in the upcoming film "Drishyam 2".

"Bholaa" is directed by Devgn, who earlier helmed films such as "U, Me aur Hum" (2008), "Shivaay" (2016), and "Runway 34" (2022).

The original Tamil film, which was written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, revolved around an ex-convict (played by Karthi) who decides to meet his daughter for the first time after being released from prison but gets caught in a face-off between police and drug mafia.

Devgn is taking on the lead role in the Hindi movie, which is produced by his banner Ajay Devgn Fiilms, T-Series Films, Reliance Entertainment and Dream Warrior Pictures.

Kamal Haasan-starrer 'Indian 2' resumes shoot

Chennai, Aug 24 (PTI) The team of upcoming film "Indian 2" is set to start shooting for the remaining portions on Thursday, director Shankar has announced.

The Tamil-language movie is the follow-up to the 1996 vigilante action thriller "Indian", starring Kamal Haasan.

Shankar, who also directed the first part, shared the update on Twitter as he shared the film's new posters featuring Haasan.

"Good morning Indians, we are glad to announce that the remaining shoot for Indian 2 is commencing today! Need all of your support and wishes," the acclaimed filmmaker wrote.

Haasan said he will join the production next month.

"Filming for #Indian2 from September. Wishing team @shankarshanmugh, #Subaskaran, @LycaProductions and everyone else involved a successful journey. Welcome onboard thambi @Udhaystalin @RedGiantMovies_" he tweeted.

"Indian 2" also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram and Samuthirakani.

The film is backed by Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions and DMK Youth Wing Secretary and MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin via Red Giant Movies.

Actor Suraj Pancholi used to abuse Jiah Khan, her mother tells Mumbai court

Mumbai : (PTI) Bollywood actor Suraj Pancholi used to subject actress Jiah Khan, who allegedly committed suicide here in 2013, to physical and verbal abuse, her mother told a special court here on Wednesday.

Pancholi, who was in a relationship with the 25-year-old actress, has been booked for abetment of suicide in the case probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He is currently out on bail.

On Wednesday, Jiah Khan's mother Rabia Khan began recording her testimony in the case before special judge A S Sayyad.

Rabia Khan told the court about the actress's entry into Bollywood, her career progression and relationship with Pancholi.

Pancholi had approached Jiah Khan through a social media site and insisted on meeting her, she said.

Jiah Khan was initially apprehensive and reluctant , but the duo met for the first time in September 2012, Rabia Khan said.

At that time she sent some pictures .to me it looked like they clicked and had mutual interest However, in September she (Jiah Khan) told me they were just friends, she said.

Rabia Khan said her daughter's daily routine was "taken over" by Pancholi and by October 2012, the duo had started living at each other's house.

During her visit to their London home in November that year, the actress looked very happy, she said.

Rabia Khan said Jiah Khan then returned to Mumbai for professional work and was supposed to come back to celebrate Christmas, but did not turn up.

On December 24, 2012, Rabia Khan said she received a message from Pancholi, saying he got angry with Jiah Khan after a fight with a friend and that she (the actress) should forgive him and give another chance.

"At that time, I discovered that the duo had a violent fight," she said.

Rabia Khan said Jiah Khan decided to give him a second chance and the duo went to Goa.

However, in one of her phone calls Jiah Khan complained about being at a very strange place and not wanting to stay there, she said.

In Goa, he used to put her down in front of other friends and flirt with other women in her presence, Rabia Khan said, citing her conversations with her daughter.

Rabia Khan said Jiah Khan suddenly turned up in London on February 14, 2013, and looked sad.

According to Rabia Khan, Jiah Khan told her that Pancholi abused her verbally and physically, and also called her by "dirty names".

Jiah Khan's mother's testimony will continue on Thursday.

The actress, best known for her performance in Hindi film 'Nishabd' starring Amitabh Bachchan, was found hanging at her residence in Mumbai on June 3, 2013, by her mother.

Pancholi, the son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, is currently out on bail in the case.

The CBI had alleged that a three-page note seized by the Mumbai Police, which first probed the case, on June 10, 2013, was written by Jiah Khan and it narrated her ordeal.

The note narrated Jiah Khan's "intimate relationship, physical abuse and mental and physical torture" allegedly at the hands of Pancholi which led her to commit suicide, the central agency had said.

Shooting begins on John Abraham-starrer 'Tehran'

Mumbai, Jul 11 (PTI) Bollywood star John Abraham has started shooting for Dinesh Vijan's action thriller "Tehran", the makers said on Monday.

Maddock Films, Vijan's production banner, shared the first-look video of Abraham on its official Twitter page.

"Lights. Camera. Time for some ACTION! #Tehran shoot begins. Starring @TheJohnAbraham. Directed by #ArunGopalan and produced by #DineshVijan, #SandeepLeyzell, @ShobhnaYadava. Written by @writish and @ashishpverma. @bakemycakefilms," the production house said in a tweet.

Inspired by true events, "Tehran" is written by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma and marks the feature directorial debut of ad filmmaker Arun Gopalan.

"Tehran" is a Maddock Films production in association with Bake My Cake Films. Besides Vijan, Shobhna Yadav and Sandeep Leyzell are also credited as producers on the film.

Abraham will next be seen in "EK Villain Returns", which is slated to be released in theatres on July 29.

Oscar-Nominated ‘The Godfather’ Actor James Caan Passes Away At 82

In a year when the world is celebrating the golden jubilee of ‘The Godfather’, James Caan, one of the film’s many actors who’ll never be forgotten, passed away on Wednesday (U.S. Pacific Time), according to an announcement by his family on Twitter. Best remembered for playing Sonny Corleone, the hotheaded, loose-fisted son of the Don, Caan was 82 when he breathed his last.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6,” the brief tweet reads, according to ‘Variety’. “The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Caan also had substantial roles in other notable films, including ‘Misery’, ‘Elf’, ‘Thief’, ‘Godfather Part II’, ‘Brian’s Song’ and ‘The Gambler’, notes ‘Variety’, adding that Sonny’s violent end in a vendetta killing in Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic movie — “riddled, as he is, with dozens of bullets — is one of the most memorable scenes in a film filled with them”.

Caan, according to ‘Variety’, initially auditioned for the role of Michael, the college-educated war-hero son who would ultimately become Don, and the studio, Paramount, supported this casting for a time, but Al Pacino, as we all know, was cast as Michael and Caan as Sonny “as part of a complex compromise between Paramount and Coppola”.

Coppola and Caan, incidentally, were classmates at Hofstra University, where the Bronx-born James Edmund Caan went after studying at Michigan State University (he played American football for the university team).

Caan, who was working till 2013 and even lent his voice to ‘The Godfather’ video games, would repeatedly essay characters with a penchant for violence, notes ‘Variety’. His most notable decade, though, was the 1970s.

Mumbai, Jun 21 (PTI) Actors Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna and Tabu-starrer "Drishyam 2" is set to release theatrically on November 18, the makers announced on Tuesday.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film is a sequel to the 2015 crime thriller "Drishyam", a Hindi remake of the Mohanlal-starrer Malayalam movie of the same name. The sequel to the Malayalam film released in February last year.

The story centres on of a family of four whose lives turn upside down following an unfortunate incident that happens to their older daughter.

Devgn will be seen reprising his role of Vijay Salgoankar in the sequel.

"Indian cinema's much-celebrated character Vijay Salgaonkar is all set to take us on yet another thrilling journey this year on 18th November. Promising to take it notches higher in thrill, drama and excitement, this sequel will take Vijay and his family's story beyond imagination," a note from the makers read.

The sequel also features Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, and Ishita Dutta. The team will wrap the shoot in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

"Drishyam 2" is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, Krishan Kumar and co-produced by Sanjeev Joshi, Aditya Chowksey and Shiv Chanana.

The film is presented by Viacom18 Studios, T-Series and Panorama Studios.

The first part of Hindi "Drishyam" was directed by late filmmaker Nishikant Kamat.

Munawar Faruqui is OUT from Khatron Ke Khiladi 12

Mumbai: ‘Munawar Ki Janta’ and ‘Munawar Warriors’ were pretty excited to see their star and stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui performing daredevil stunts in Khatron Ke Khiladi 12. However, it seems like nothing as such is happening as the Lock Upp winner has backed out from the project.

After a lot of speculations, this news was confirmed by an Instagram page dedicated to Khatron Ke Khiladi 12, which has over 121K followers. According to a YouTube video shared by the page, it is now official that Munawar Faruqui will not be flying to Cape Town to take part in KKK 12. Watch the video below.

It is being said that he decided to back out from the project due to his other work commitments. Munawar and the KKK team is yet to react on it. Now this news is surely going to upset the comedians fans who were eagerly waiting for Munawar to see on national TV’s biggest reality show hosted by Rohit Shetty.

Meanwhile, Munawar Faruqui is currently gearing up for the release of his new music video ‘Halki Si Barsaat’ which he did with his ladylove Nazila. The single will be out today and the audio has already been released on Spotify last night.

Speaking about Khatron Ke Khiladi 12, several popular celebrities including Rubina Dilaik Chetna Pande, Sriti Jha, Shivangi Joshi, Mohit Malik, Nishant Bhatt, Pratik Sehajpal, Rajiv Adatia, Tushar Kalia, Faisal Shaikh (Mr. Faisu), Erika Packard, Kanika Mann, Aneri Vajani and Jannat Zubair Rahmani will be seen taking part in the show.
