Raipur : Emphasizing on the need to formulate strategies to address the global challenge of climate change, Chhattisgarh has taken a new initiative of collaborating with tribal communities along with experts and environmentalists to tackle the challenge.
Chhattisgarh has also launched a climate change dashboard platform to provide a centralized system for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing climate-related data.
During the two-day ‘Chhattisgarh Climate Change Conclave 2024’, the state government focused on expertise and exchange of knowledge from primitive tribes of the remote regions of Chhattisgarh. As 44 per cent geographical area of Chhattisgarh is covered under rich and dense forest and these primitive tribes are very close to nature, utilising their traditional knowledge along with that of experts and public representatives will assist in moving in the right direction in terms of environment conservation.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the conclave would serve as a significant platform for sharing crucial information and experiences regarding the global challenges and adverse impacts of climate change. He underlined the importance of collective efforts to combat climate change for the well-being of future generations.
British Deputy High Commissioner Dr Andrew Fleming, who attended the conclave, highlighted various aspects of climate change and appreciated the state governments efforts of addressing climate change through comprehensive action plans and leveraging the knowledge from these tribal inhabitants.
The suggestions of primitive tribes regarding conservation of medicinal plants in the forests will be implemented in the state. He said that the suggestions given by them on climate change will also be shared outside the country.
Climate change and global warming are posing as major threat for the entire world as it has led to severe repercussions in form of irregular rainfall, prolonged droughts, cyclonic rains, and seasonal variations, affecting both the nation and the world.
Experts from the country and the world attended the two-day workshop on climate change held in Raipur. In this workshop, the action plan prepared by the Government of Chhattisgarh on climate change was presented in which the data of 100 years was assessed.
The assessment indicated that the state is witnessing a decline in annual rainfall over the period 1972-2017. The most significant declining trend was observed in Surguja, Balrampur, Janjgir-Champa, Surajpur, Raigarh, Koriya, Raipur and Mahasamund districts, where a minimum decline of 3.95 mm/yr to 3.05 mm/yr was recorded.
The temperature time series during 1951-2017 shows a moderate increasing trend for summer maximum temperatures in Chhattisgarh, while a moderate increasing trend for winter minimums. Average maximum temperatures remained high across the districts of Chhattisgarh during March-April-May (MAM) and ranged from 36.11°C in Sukma to 38.88°C in Rajnandgaon district.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai flagged off a special train bound for Ayodhya from Platform 07 of Raipur Railway Station at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, under the Shri Ramlalla Darshan Yojana. The train, carrying 850 Shri Ram devotees from all 05 districts of Raipur division, departed amidst spirited chants of 'Jai Shri Ram'.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed pride in the pilgrimage, stating, "This is a momentous occasion as the people of Chhattisgarh get on on a journey to seek the blessings of Shri Ramlalla. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi promised the commencement of the Shri Ramlalla Darshan Yojana after our government's formation, and today marks the fulfillment of that pledge as the first train departs from Chhattisgarh to Ayodhya. In the future, trains will also operate from Bilaspur and Raigarh to Ayodhya under this scheme, offering devotees a weekly opportunity to visit Ayodhya Dham. In addition to Ayodhya, tours to other religious sites will also be organized. Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to facilitate the Darshan of Shri Ramlalla at government expense. In March, the entire cabinet will visit Ayodhya for Ramlalla's Darshan."

Following the flag-off, the Raipur Railway Station resonated with echoes of 'Jai Shri Ram', continuing long after the train's departure. It is worth mentioning that the 12-coach train can accommodate nearly 850 devotees from Chhattisgarh at once for the Darshan of Shri Ramlalla in Ayodhya. Commencing its operation on March 5, this special train is part of the Shri Ramlalla Darshan Yojana, offering devotees a comprehensive package. This package includes travel arrangements from Chhattisgarh to Ayodhya, accommodation, temple visits, breakfast, and meals. In addition, the train will be facilitated with tour escorts, security personnel, and a team of doctors to ensure a smooth and safe journey for the pilgrims.

We need more measures and efforts to save nature, greenery and natural resources now than ever. He emphasized the need to formulate strategies to address the global challenge of climate change, as it has led to severe repercussions in form of irregular rainfall, prolonged droughts, cyclonic rains, and seasonal variations, affecting both the nation and the world. Chief Minister inaugurated the two-day 'Chhattisgarh Climate Change Conclave 2024,' today.

At the event, Shri Sai launched the 'Chhattisgarh State Action Plan on Climate Change' and a book on traditional health practices titled 'Ancient Wisdom' at Bastar. Chief Minister said that the conclave would serve as a significant platform for sharing crucial information and experiences regarding the global challenges and adverse impacts of climate change. He underlined the importance of collective efforts to combat climate change for the well-being of future generations.

On the occasion, Minister of Forest and Climate Change Shri Kedar Kashyap, MLA and Padma Shri awardee Shri Anuj Sharma, Padma Shri awardee Shrimati Phoolbasan Yadav, Padma Shri awardee Shri Hemchand Manjhi, and Padma Shri awardee Shri Jageshwar Yadav were present, along with the senior officials from the Forest Department. Chief Minister commended the efforts of the department and the Chhattisgarh State Center for Climate Change for organizing the conclave.

In his address to the conclave, Chief Minister said that everyone needs to do their part for preserving nature and greener. Reckless consumerism and negligence towards the environment has led to this situation today. Acknowledging the challenges posed by climate change, Shri Sai highlighted the 2015 Paris Agreement, signed by 196 countries, as a collective effort to protect the environment. He affirmed that concerted efforts on a global scale would lead to success in addressing climate change challenges. Chief Minister concluded the speech by welcoming the experts, environmentalists, and representatives from tribal communities participating in the conclave. The event featured the screening of a short film focused on climate change.

Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap said that experts, public representatives, and tribal communities should come together to deal with the challenge of climate change. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Chief of Forest Force Shri V. Srinivasa Rao also addressed the program. Additional Chief Secretary of Forest Department, Shri Manoj Kumar Pingua said that to deal with this challenge, efforts should be made to bring experts, environmentalists, representatives of tribal communities and Vaidyarajas on one platform.

Raipur : The Department of Forest and Climate Change, Chhattisgarh Government, is organising a two-day Climate Change Conclave at a private hotel in Raipur on March 5 and 6. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will grace the event as the chief guest. The experts will discuss the topic of the global challenges of climate change and its adverse impacts. They will share their experiences and insights into the topic. It will witness the participation of the 15 states and various national-level institutions. This conclave will pave the way for a greener Chhattisgarh in the era of sustainability.
It is noteworthy that due to the adverse effects of climate change, challenges such as irregular rainfall, prolonged droughts, cyclonic rainfall, and shifting monsoon seasons are being faced by countries worldwide as well as by states and regions within the country. The conclave will be organised by the Chhattisgarh State Centre for Climate Change, which is a nodal body in the state working on state action plans on climate change and related topics. This workshop will prove to be very useful for the state's role and future plans in dealing with the challenges of climate change.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited the Shankaracharya Ashram at Boriyakala in Raipur this morning, seeking the blessings of Shankaracharya Jagadguru Swami Shri Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji of Jyotish Peeth and Shankaracharya Jagadguru Swami Sadanand Saraswati Ji of Sharda Peeth. Swami Ji's arrival in Chhattisgarh coincides with his participation in the Sant Samagam of Rajim Kumbh, alongside various other religious programmes across the state.

Pulse Polio Immunisation drive from March 3 to 5 in the state

36.13 lakh children will receive two drops of the polio vaccine in the state
Raipur : Pulse Polio Immunisation drive under the Pulse Polio Immunisation programme will be conducted in the state from March 3 to March 5, 2024. The polio drops for children aged 0 to 5 years will be administered at the booths on the first day, March 3. The Healthcare Department will take up a drive to visit houses from March 4 to March 5 to administer polio drops to all children aged 0 to 5 years.
State Immunisation officer Dr. V. R. Bhagat has informed that vaccines and other necessary supplies for the campaign have been made available in the districts. The Health Department has set up 14,000 booths in urban and rural areas of the state to administer polio drops to over 36.13 lakh children this year. During the campaign, the transit team will focus on administering the vaccine to children in transit at places such as railway stations, bus stands, markets, brick kilns, slum areas, construction sites, etc.
The Health Department has provided training to vaccination teams at the village, sector, primary health centre, and block levels. Supervisors will oversee all booths during the campaign. All necessary preparations have been completed for the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio Campaign.

Raipur : As Holi, the vibrant festival of colours, approaches, members of the Jai Mata Di self-help group are gearing up by preparing herbal gulal. Utilizing natural ingredients including vegetables, herbs, and flowers, their goal is to promote a safe and eco-friendly celebration. The herbal gulal, prepared by the women Self-Help Group (SHG) associated with the village Dokarpali Bihaan in Mahasamund district, is free from chemicals and has no side effects on the skin.

Group member Smt. Chitrarekha Diwan stated that last year, the women produced 80 kg of herbal gulal during Holi, generating an income of Rs 30,000 to 40,000 for the group. With significant demand for gulal in the market during the festival, herbal gulal packets priced at Rs 10, Rs 20, and Rs 50 are swiftly sold. The process involves using all-natural ingredients like spinach, Lal Bhaji, turmeric, herbs, and flowers.

In addition, leftover petals from flower markets and flowers offered in temples are utilized. These petals are dried and then ground in the processing unit to create gulal. Varieties such as rose, marigold, beetroot, turmeric, mango, and green guava leaves are processed. This season, nearly 60 kg of gulal has been prepared, with half of the quantity already sold. The gulal is available in various colors including green, pink, yellow, and saffron, she said.

Raipur : Demonstrating the state government's commitment to the welfare of residents in remote areas, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai distributed solar home lighting systems to 50 students from small hamlets in Konta block of Sukma district. The distribution took place at the Swami Vivekananda Airport premises in Raipur on Thursday, aiming to empower these children and pave the way for their brighter future.

Addressing the students, Chief Minister Shri Sai stressed the government's dedication to ensuring a bright future for children. He stated, "It is the effort of our government to ensure that the future of children is bright. Chhattisgarh Government is committed to providing all facilities to the citizens of the tribal-dominated Bastar region and its inclusive development. In keeping with this spirit, we have launched Niyad Nella Naar – Apka Accha Gaon Yojana, aiming to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach tribal communities."

Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted the government's goal of providing essential amenities including roads, electricity, water, housing, and healthcare facilities in Bastar. Stressing the importance of education and accessibility to government schemes for tribal communities' development he stated "There should be well-equipped schools for children's education. Aadhar cards and ration cards should be issued to everyone, enabling our tribal population in remote areas to participate in mainstream development. The development of the Bastar region is important for building a 'Viksit Chhattisgarh'."
While providing solar home lighting systems to students from Sukma, Chief Minister Shri Sai wished them a bright future, stating, "With the solar lights, you all will be able to study better." He encouraged students to take full advantage of opportunities and learn as much as possible during their visit to Raipur.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shri Sai distributed solar home lighting systems to 50 students from villages Purvarti, Silger, and Tekalguda of the Konta development block in Sukma district. The kit comprises a 200-watt solar panel, a 12.28-volt battery, 05 LED lights, a DC fan, a DTH, and a mobile charging unit.

Raipur : Softball players Saket Banjare and Chandrahas Yadav met Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at the Assembly premises today. Saket had represented Chhattisgarh in the boys' category of the Junior Softball Competition held in Patna, Bihar, where the team secured the runner-up position. Chief Minister Shri Sai lauded their performance and offered words of encouragement.

The 41st Junior National Softball Championship, which took place in Patna, Bihar from February 21 to February 25, witnessed an outstanding performance by Chhattisgarh's Boys team. They maintained an undefeated streak until reaching the finals, defeating teams from Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal, Chandigarh, Punjab, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh along the way.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai met with Sushri Sneha Banjare, who won the silver medal at the World Karate Championship in Dubai, on Tuesday. Chief Minister Sai greeted her for the achievement and extended his best wishes. He stated that winning medals at the international competition while representing the country and the state is a matter of pride.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated,"Your success will inspire the daughters of the state, and girls will come forward in sports like karate. Daughters have always broken the myths. They have proven their abilities in every field". He interacted with Sneha and spoke about the competition. He honoured Sneha by presenting her medals won in the competition and award certificates.
It is noteworthy that Sushri Sneha Banjare from Korba district won the silver medal in the senior category of the 68-kilogram segment at the World Karate Championship held in the UAE. Athletes from 84 countries participated in the competition. 49 players, including Sneha, were selected from India to participate in the World Championship. She was the only selected player from Chhattisgarh. She defeated competitors from 11 countries in her category to reach the finals. In the final, she competed against a player from Egypt and won the silver medal. Currently, she is a final-year student pursuing her MPEd at Guru Ghasidas University, and as an athlete, she has won numerous medals.
71-year-old's knee surgery made possible through Ayushman Card benefit

Scheme proving to be a boon for economically weaker sections in serious ailment treatment
Raipur : In a significant testament to the efficacy of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, 71-year-old Shri Gayaram Sahu from Bemetara district recently underwent a successful knee operation, availing the benefits of the scheme. Suffering from prolonged knee pain, Shri Sahu struggled to find relief despite seeking treatment from various doctors and even trying Ayurvedic medicine.
Speaking about his condition, Shri Sahu stated, "I was suffering from knee pain for a long time. I got relief from pain after the operation. I sought treatment from many doctors and also tried Ayurvedic medicine. However, the pain was not subsiding. An expenditure of Rs 2 to 4 lakh for the treatment was reported by a private hospital. Due to my poor financial condition, I was not in a position to bear the said amount."
However, relief finally came when doctors at District Hospital Bemetara diagnosed his condition and recommended a knee replacement procedure. On February 22, a team of medical professionals, led by orthopaedic surgeon Dr Shilp Verma, successfully performed the operation. Post-surgery, Shri Sahu was guided through his recovery, including walking with the aid of a walker and maintaining a regimen of mild exercises and prescribed medications.
Expressing his gratitude, Shri Sahu extended heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, acknowledging the support provided under the scheme. "I am feeling fine and relieved now," he added.
Meanwhile, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana aims to provide free treatment facilities up to Rs 5 lakh to economically weaker citizens, ensuring access to essential healthcare services.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the VY Sairisa Cancer Care Centre in Raipur on Sunday. The VY Hospital and the Sairisa Health Care Foundation have jointly established the cancer centre at VY Hospital, located in Kamal Vihar, Raipur. Facilities such as radiation therapy, cancer surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormonal therapy, palliative care, and nutritional therapy are available for cancer treatment. Maharashtra Governor Shri Ramesh Bais, Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr. Raman Singh, Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, and Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal also participated in the inaugural ceremony.

In his address, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the establishment of this new cancer centre in Raipur will enhance the facilities for cancer treatment in the state. Cancer patients will receive excellent treatment with the modern facilities available at this centre. He stated that the state government is taking several positive steps in the healthcare sector. Changes in people's lifestyles are causing various diseases. Under government-run schemes, benefits will be provided to economically disadvantaged families in this hospital, which offers facilities for various types of cancer treatment. Generic medicines are also available at the hospital.

He further stated that health and medicine are areas of his interest and priority. As a people representative, he has consistently tried to ensure availability of better treatment at affordable costs.
Maharashtra Governor Shri Ramesh Bais, speaking at the program, stated that the country will progress only when there is a decrease in the number of patients. The increasing number of cancer patients in Chhattisgarh is a matter of concern. The establishment of a cancer centre at VY Hospital will benefit the people of the state. Dr. Raman Singh, Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, mentioned that the provision of free accommodation for the relatives of patients coming to VY Hospital is commendable. This hospital is operating as a mission, not only benefiting patients from Chhattisgarh but also providing assistance in the treatment of patients from neighbouring states.

Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, speaking at the inauguration ceremony, described it as a historic moment for Chhattisgarh. The inauguration of a modern cancer centre is a significant step in providing healthcare services in the state. The centre will provide access to treatment of cancer at the local level. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Bihari Jaiswal congratulated and extended best wishes to the management team and specialists of VY Hospital for establishing the state-of-the-art cancer center. He stated that this hospital has done a commendable job by providing better health services in the field of medicine.
Dr. Purnendu Saxena, Director of VY Hospital's management team, stated that the establishment of the Cancer Care Centre at VY Hospital will provide relief to cancer patients. The hospital has been operational since 2015, and with the addition of modern facilities and new medical equipment, patients suffering from various diseases are benefiting. With the commencement of the cancer centre, patients from the state will no longer have to go elsewhere for treatment. All types of cancer treatments will now be available at this hospital. Free accommodation arrangements have been made within the hospital premises for the relatives accompanying the patients.

Chief Minister extends best wishes for Rajim Kumbh Kalp

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has extended best wishes to people of the state for the Rajim Kumbh Kalp and Shivrinarayan Mela commencing on 24th February. Shri Sai said that Rajim Kumbh Kalp is being organized in Rajim- the city popularly known as the Prayagraj of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Government is determined to restore the grandeur of Rajim Kumbh to its original form. In the same sequence, ‘Rajim Maghi Punni Mela’ has been renamed as ‘Rajim Kumbh Kalp’, reimagined to preserve and promote our glorious cultural heritage. Rajim Kumbh Kalp will be held from 24 February Magh Purnima to 8 March Maha Shivratri this year. This year Rajim Kumbh Kalp will be celebrated as Ramotsav.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Rajim Kumbh Mela has been organized for centuries at the sacred 'Triveni Sangam' i.e. the confluence of three rivers- Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondhur. A large number of people from across Chhattisgarh as well as the neighbouring states participate in this mega event with zeal and fervour. This event depicts the religious traditions and the folk culture of Chhattisgarh. This year, preparations at an extensive scale are in progress at Rajim Triveni Sangam. Sadhus, saints and devotees from all over the country arrive at Rajim to attend this mega fair. During the celebration of Rajim Kumbh Kalp, three holy baths (Pavitra Snan) will be held and various cultural and religious programs will be organized.
Shri Sai said that on the occasion of Magh Purnima, a fair similar to Rajim Kumbh is organized in Shivrinarayan as well. In this Shivrinarayan Mela held at the holy confluence of Mahanadi, Shivnath and Jonk rivers, large number of devotees gather to perform rituals. Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has also extended best wishes for the upcoming Sirpur Mahotsav. Sirpur Mahotsav will also be celebrated on Maghi Purnima on the banks of Mahanadi in Sirpur.

Women Self-Help Groups to resume management of Ready-to-Eat
Praising the State Government's decision, women from SHGs thank Chief Minister for restoring responsibilities
Raipur : The state government has decided to entrust the operation of ready-to-eat to women's groups once again under the 'Modi ki Guarantee'.
"The state government has made a very thoughtful decision to address the employment and livelihood crisis faced by us women. We are all overjoyed with this decision. It will empower thousands of women in the affected groups and restore their lost confidence," said the women associated with Self-Help Groups during their interaction with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today at his office located in the Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha.

Expressing their gratitude, the women further stated, "We, the women from 1786 women's groups across the state, wholeheartedly thank you for this decision."
Women from 30 districts, from Surguja to Bastar, informed the Chief Minister that all women involved in the operation of Ready to Eat are extremely pleased with his decision and wish to express their gratitude to him and the Chhattisgarh Government by organizing a function in his honour. They also extended an invitation to the Chief Minister for the event.
Representatives from all divisions across the state mentioned that nearly 26,000 women from the 1786 groups were directly involved in the operation of 'Ready to Eat' across the state. However, the previous government had deprived the women of their work. About 3 lakh people, including the family members of the women, were directly and indirectly affected by this, leading to many difficulties over the past years and causing a significant crisis in their livelihoods. Now, the government led by Chief Minister Shri Sai has understood their plight and made this thoughtful decision in their interest.
The women stated that they used the income generated from the 'Ready to Eat' operation to support their entire families. Besides, they did not have to depend on others for money during times of need, festivals, or special occasions. However, since their employment was snatched away, they have been facing financial difficulties. With the state government's decision to hand over the operation of Ready to Eat back to women's groups, they are hopeful of regaining employment opportunities.
Chief Minister told the women that Ready to Eat is crucial for the nutrition and health of our children, and its quality will be given special attention. He added that the government's intention is to ensure that children receive proper nutrition, and they are determined to achieve this goal. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma and Food Minister Shri Dayaldas Baghel were also present on the occasion.
State GST Enforcement Wing takes major action

Three businessmen trading in iron-steel found guilty of GST evasion worth Rs 6.75 crore
Raipur : Chhattisgarh's GST enforcement wing took a major action on Thursday, by raiding the factories located in Urla, Siltara area. In the sudden inspection conducted by the wing, three iron-steel product manufacturers namely Shyam Steel Industries, Ishwar Ispat and Ishwar TMT were found guilty of evading GST worth Rs 6.75 crore. The total amount of GST evasion is expected to be higher than what was found during the preliminary investigation. These firms deposited GST of Rs 4.75 crore with the authorities on the spot. These firms were buying raw scrap to make bars and evading GST.
It is noteworthy that the enforcement wing of GST in Chhattisgarh is actively monitoring and taking action on the complaints of tax evasion. The wing was monitoring these firms for GST evasion from scrap for a long time. Advanced IT tools were used by the department, and action was taken on the basis of the information obtained through inspection of the e-way bills and the information collected from the field.
