An exclusive showroom opened in Ambikapur to sell cow dung based products

Adopting an innovative business idea, the women of Ambikapur have started an exclusive showroom for the sale of cow dung based products. It has been named as Godhan Emporium. Vermicompost as well as paint made from cow dung, go kasth, incense sticks, kanda and cow dung are being sold in this emporium. This emporium is being run by women successfully for the last three years at the main square of Ambikapur city and the women working in the Godhan Emporium have earned an income of more than 12 lakhs till now.
In this unique emporium, which looks like a small shopping mall, people of Ambikapur city buy numerous products like go kaasth, incense sticks for worship, havan etc. Similarly,lovers of litti-chokha purchase cow dung cakes (kande) from here to prepare litti-chokha. Vermi compost is also being used by people in urban areas for house pots as well as for other gardening works. Cow dung paint is also being sold here due to its ability to withstand temperature. The popularity of this emporium is increasing day by day. At present, the emporium witnesses an influx of 40 to 60 customers every day. Moreover, given the popularity of cow dung products, there is a possibility of a further increase in sales.
It is noteworthy that, a total income of Rs 12 lakh 49 thousand has been earned from Godhan Emporium in three years. 4 lakh 50 thousand in the year 2020-21, 4 lakh 87 thousand in the year 2021-22 and 3 lakh 12 thousand in the year 2022-23. The women members working here informed that every month the women of the group are earning about 40 thousand rupees from the emporium. Two female members of the Gothan women's group are stationed alternately in the emporium. Like other shops, Emporium remains closed once a week on Tuesday.
This emporium is a part of Ambikapur Urban Gouthan and is run by the women group associated with this Gothan,. It is noteworthy that the women of the group are members of Ambikapur City Level Federation; this federation is working for cleanliness in Ambikapur city. A unit for making paint from cow dung and preparing dona pattals has also been started here recently. Members of Gauthan groups get 6 to 7 thousand rupees every month as dividends.
Mrs. Shashikala Sinha, President of Ambikapur City Level Federation, says that the Godhan Emporium is a wonderful experience for us. We had heard about showrooms of grains, clothes and other items only but did not imagine that we would run such a beautiful modern decor shop to sell cow dung based products in Ambikapur’s main city square.
Free treatment of more than 2 lakh people so far under the ‘Mukhyamantri Shehri Slum Swasthya Yojana’

A total of 2 lakh 4 thousand 426 people in Surguja district have got free treatment under the ‘Mukhyamantri Shehri Slum Swasthya Yojana’ so far. Under this scheme, health camps are organized through dedicated Mobile Medical Units in the slum areas of the city, so that people do not have to go to the hospital for treatment of minor ailments. Four mobile medical units are being operated in Ambikapur Municipal Corporation and one in Nagar Panchayat Sitapur and Lakhanpur.
On Wednesday, 49-year-old Arjun Singh reached the health camp organized at Babupara for his health check-up. He had complaints of pain in his hands and feet and blood pressure. The doctor present at MMU examined his health and provided him with syrup and tablets. Along with this, BP medicine was provided free of cost after his checkup. Singh said that he comes to MMU from time to time for doctor consultations and medicines. He has got relief from hefty medical and medicine bills. He expressed his gratitude towards Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel for the commencement of this scheme.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ms Pratishtha Mamgai said that till February 8, 2023, a total of 2 lakh 4 thousand 426 people have received free-of-cost treatment through MMU in urban areas in as many as 2765 health camps. Free-of-cost medicines were distributed to a total of 1 lakh 48 thousand 400 people and free medical tests of 40, 687 people were done.
Gynecologist Dr Manju Ekka of Ambikapur Government Medical College suspended for negligence in duty
Raipur 14 December 2022/ The Medical Education Department of the state government has suspended Dr Manju Ekka, a gynaecologist at the hospital attached to Rajmata Smt. Devendra Kumari Singhdeo Government Medical College Ambikapur with immediate effect for showing negligence in allocated work. She has been suspended in connection with the death of patient Smt. Subuktara, husband Shri Israfil, was referred from Pratappur in the hospital affiliated with the Medical College, on November 29, in a case related to high-risk pregnancy. Despite receiving information from the hospital during her on-call duty in the hospital, she did not promptly discharge her official duties and responsibilities.
In the preliminary inquiry report received on December 01 regarding the incident, it was found that Dr Manju Ekka has shown extreme negligence in discharging her official duties. This act is a clear violation of Rule 3 of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965. She has been suspended with immediate effect under Rule 9 (a) of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966 for showing negligence in allocated work. Her headquarters has been fixed as office Civil Surgeon-cum-Chief Hospital Superintendent, District Hospital, Surajpur and she will be eligible for subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period.

50-year-old man for killing his live-in partner in sarguja
Sarguja : Police on Friday arrested a 50-year-old man for killing his live-in partner two days ago in Ambikapur town in Surguja district.
Surguja Superintendent of Police Bhavana Gupta identified him as Kunjlal of Wadrafnagar.
He killed Savita Singh (35) on Wednesday and absconded. Both lived together in Gandhi Nagar. He was arrested from Balrampur district.
The killer told the police they had frequent fights over the woman talking on the phone. He strangled her to death after a heated argument.

The 13 year old Puja (name changed) will witness the vibrance of Diwali for the first time in her life with her own eyes. She was suffering from cataract since birth but she has recieved the invaluable gift of eyesight through the 'Chirayu' scheme under the National Child Health Program. Pooja, studying in Jeevan Jyoti school for the visually impaired in Batauli, Surguja, was unable to see since birth due to cataract and due to her family's poor financial condition, she was unable to get her medical treatment done. Her father got her admitted in the Jeevan Jyoti school for the visually impaired seeing her urge and dedication to attain education. As her eyesight is perfectly fine now, she will leave the this school and pursue education in a normal school and will witness this year's Diwali being illuminated with her own eyes for the first time.
Dr. Amin Firdausi, District Nodal Officer of National Child Health Program in Surguja informed that the team of Chirayu programme, Batauli Health Department examined Pooja's eyes in her school as a part of their medical check up camp and suggested her to undergo a surgery to restore her vision. Seeing a ray of hope in the life of his daughter, her father gladly consented to the operation. In the year-2018, Pooja's one eye was successfully operated in Raipur and in August this year her second eye was operated in Ambikapur. Due to timely investigation and operation, today Pooja is able to see everything with both her eyes.
It is worth mentioning that under the 'Chirayu programme', free of cost treatment of 44 types of diseases are being done for the children in Anganwadi's and schools.
National Child Health Program Deputy Director Dr. VR. Bhagat said that under the 'Chirayu' scheme run by the state government, all children up to 18 years of age enrolled in Anganwadi and studying in schools are provided free health check-ups regularly and are also provided all possible treatment by qualified medical teams. Under this programme, 44 types of diseases like low vision, hearing loss, vitamin deficiency, anemia, heart disease are identified and treated. He also informed that the children whose treatment is not possible at the local level, they are referred to higher health institutions for better treatment by 'Chirayu' teams and a total of 330 'Chirayu' teams are active in the state at present.
