After accomplishments in numerous avenues of development,Chhattisgarh is now all set to dominate the sports world as well. Along with organizing numerous national and international  level sports events, a new identity of the traditional sports has also been created through the Chhattisgarhia Olympics in the state. Under the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and the direction of Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel, the  construction of new sports academies, construction and up-gradation of new sports grounds has been done due to which better facilities are being provided for athletes to grow and to create a better environment for sports.. Recently,  international level tournaments of chess and badminton were organized in the capital Raipur ,and the event witnessed the participation of national and international athletes. Players also got a chance to improve their ranking with the event. The athletes were all praises for the arrangements and showed interest about joining the event whenever it is held again. Moreover Chhattisgarh has a diverse variety of traditional sports which people have been playing for years, and to promote and preserve such games,Chhattisgarhia Olympics is being organized in the state. People of all age groups are actively participating in this magnanimous event. Whether children, the elderly, women, everyone gets excited about participating in traditional games present in their folk culture.

Creating better Sports infrastructure

Chhattisgarh Sports Development Authority has been constituted for the efficient operation of sports academies, and proper utilization of sports infrastructure and overall development of athletes and sports infrastructure in the state. Sports academies are being created with the aim of preparing the players for future by giving them modern training through technically sound methods  accompanied with modern sports equipment . These academies have state of the art infrastructure, standard sports equipment and better training facilities. Late BR Yadav residential academy for hockey, archery and athletics has been established at Yadav State Sports Training Center, Bahatrai, Bilaspur, which has been recognized by the Sports Authority of India as Khelo India State Center of Excellence. In this academy, a residential hockey academy Is also being run, in which 36 boys and 24 girls, and a total of 60 players are being trained here. Selection trials have been  organized for the admission in Archery and Athletic Sports Academy and Residential Girls Kabaddi Academy. Moreover, a Residential Archery Academy has been established in Raipur in collaboration with NMDC Limited. Similarly, there are four non-residential academies operating in the state which are ; non-residential academy archery training sub-centre in Shivtarai Bilaspur, non-residential hockey and archery academy at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Hockey Stadium, Raipur, non-residential girls football academy at Swami Vivekananda Stadium Kota, Raipur and non-residential boys' football academy in Raipur's own Swami Vivekananda Stadium Kota. International level tennis stadium and academy is being constructed in Labhandi Raipur for the athletes pursuing tennis. The Chhattisgarh government has set a target to establish sports academies in every district of the state. 07 Laghu Kendras (small centers) are approved under the Khelo India scheme of the Government of India. Approval has been given for hockey in Jashpur, archery in Bijapur, hockey in Rajnandgaon, volleyball in Gariaband, Malkhamb in Narayanpur, football in Surguja and archery in Bilaspur. Local senior players will be appointed as coaches through Khelo India Laghu Kendr. Under the Khelo India scheme of the Government of India, approval has been received for construction of a hockey ground with synthetic turf at Jashpur, multipurpose indoor hall at Ambikapur, synthetic football ground with running track at Jagdalpur Bastar, athletic track with synthetic surface at Mahasamund. For this, construction work has been completed in Jashpur and Jagdalpur Bastar.

Chhattisgarhia Olympics is being organized with the aim of promoting traditional sports in Chhattisgarh. The enthusiasm of the people to participate in traditional sports is evidently visible. women, children and elders are also participating enthusiastically in this Olympics. 14 kinds of sports have been included in Chhattisgarhia Olympics which are:  Gilli Danda, Pittul, Sankhali, Langdi race, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Rassakati(tug of war), Bati (Kancha) in team sports and Billas, Fugdi, Gedi race, Bhanwara, 100m  singles Running and long jump competitions are also being organized. Level-01 Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club and Level-02 Zone level have been succesfully organized in the Chhattisgarhia Olympics which is being organized in 6 phases and after the level-03 development block and urban cluster level,  then  district, divisional and state level competitions will be held under the Chhattisgarhiya Olympics.

With International events happening, the state garners recognition and appreciation for the promotion of sports
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister International Grand Master Chess Tournament was organized in the capital Raipur from 19 to 28 September which witnessed the participation of more than 500 chess players from 15 countries and 21 states of India. Grandmasters, International Masters, Women Grandmasters, Women International Masters, FIDE Masters and Elo rated players participated in the tournament. Similarly, for the first time an international Badminton competition was organized in Chhattisgarh. More than 550 players from 12 other countries including Indian states participated in this tournament organized in the name of Chief Minister's India International Badminton Challenge trophy in the capital Raipur. It is worth mentioning that In the 36th National Game held in Gujarat, athletes of Chhattisgarh won 13 medals by showcasing their excellent perfomance in the game by winning  02 gold, 5 silver and 06 silver medals.
