Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to India's first woman Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Mrs. Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary on November 19. Recalling the multifaceted personality of Mrs. Gandhi and her contribution to the country, Chief Minister said that from a young age, Indira ji closely observed and participated in the national freedom movement, under the guidance of her father Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. She established the Bal Charkha Sangh at an early age and participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement. She dedicated major part of her life towards the upliftment of the poor and weaker sections of the society. She sacrificed his life to protect the unity and integrity of the country. Mrs. Gandhi's birthday is celebrated as 'Kaumi Ekta Diwas' (Communal Unity Day' with the aim to promote harmony and strengthen the spirit of unity in the country.
    Mr. Baghel has said that Mrs. Gandhi gave a new direction to the nation with her vision and determination. She had to take many brave yet difficult decisions for the progress of the country. She was known as 'Iron Lady' because of her determination, vision and strong will power. She competently led the entire nation through challenging circumstances and brought laurels to India on the international stage. The success of her Green Revolution program made the country self-sufficient in food grain production. As Prime Minister, she took tough decisions such as nationalization of banks, abolition of previpers of kings. The rise of Bangladesh, India becoming a nuclear power nation were few of her major achievements. During her tenure the Indian Space Research Organization was established and the first satellite Aryabhata was launched into space. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that Indira ji's work and her thoughts and values ​​will continue to inspire us all to serve the country with utmost dedication.
