 Farmer's delegation from Tamil Nadu paid a visit to Chhattisgarh to understand the implementation of farmer-friendly policies and programs of the Chhattisgarh government


Farmers are getting the highest price of paddy and sugarcane in Chhattisgarh

The delegation of farmers appreciated various government run farmer friendly schemes

Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri RavindraChoubey at his residence office today, met a delegation of Farmers from Tamil Nadu and held detailed discussions about the farming situation in Chhattisgarh and the schemes being implemented in the interest of farmers.  Mr. Choubey said that Chhattisgarh has adopted numerous innovative agricultural measures that has resulted in the increase in the prosperity of farmers along with increased farming yields.  Along with providing financial assistance to farmers, state government has provided farmers with numerous quality seeds, irrigation facilities, organic vermi compost that has started the trend of crop diversification which has encouraged the farmers to cultivate other cash crops as well. It is noteworthy that Sugarcane and maize are being cultivated on a large scale for which farmers are availing a very high income.

On this occasion, the Agriculture Minister gave detailed information about Chhattisgarh Government's farmer friendly schemes like Rajiv Gandhi KisanNyayYojana, GodhanNyayYojana, Rajiv Gandhi GrameenBhumiheenKrishiMazdoorNyayYojana and said that the objective of these schemes is to improve the economic condition of the villagers and farmers. He said that the landless agricultural laborers of Chhattisgarh are being given financial assistance of Rs 7,000 per year, which is more than the amount received under PM SammanNidhi. In view of the worrying situation of ground water level in Tamil Nadu, Agriculture Minister Shri Choubey suggested the delegation to adopt Narva Development Program of Chhattisgarh Government there.

It is worth mentioning that a delegation of Cauvery River Farmers Protection Committee of Tamil Nadu state had come to Chhattisgarh on a two-day stay to see and understand the implementation of farmer-friendly policies and programs of the Chhattisgarh government. After seeing the situation of agriculture in different areas of the state, the delegation met Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri RavinderChoubey to understand the detailed outlook of the implementation of such unique policies. On this occasion, the delegation presented the famous Black Rice and Organic Jaggery of Tamil Nadu to Agriculture Minister Shri RavindraChoubey.

Secretary of Agriculture Department and Managing Director of GodhanNyay Mission, Dr. S. Bharathidasan briefed about the state of agriculture in the state of Tamil Nadu and the efforts being made for the betterment of farmers in Chhattisgarh. The head of the farmers' delegation, Mr. SundarVimal Nathan, told that his team consists of farmers' representatives from different districts of Tamil Nadu, who are mainly engaged in the cultivation of paddy and sugarcane. He said that sugarcane cultivating farmers in Chhattisgarh are getting higher price than the state of Tamil Nadu. Shri Nathan said that his team has come on a visit to Chhattisgarh to know and understand more benefits being received by the farmers in Chhattisgarh. Shri Nathan urged the Agriculture Minister to organize a National Conclave of Natural Farming in Chhattisgarh. He also talked about making the farmers aware about the use of ground water in agriculture.

The farmers' delegation of Tamil Nadu witnessed the activities conducted by women self-help groups at the Multi Activity Center at Adarsh ​​GothanNavagaon (L), Chherikhedi, located in Abhanpur development block of Raipur during their stay in Chhattisgarh. The delegation visited Kawardha district of the state and also inspected the sugarcane cultivation being done by the farmers there and Bhoramdev sugar factory.
