Target set to provide financial aid for marriage of seven and a half thousand girls under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana

Budget for the scheme has been doubled, Rs 38 crore allocated

An amount of Rs 50 thousand will be spent on marriage of each daughter of poor family

On the occasion of marriage, the beneficiary bride will get a draft of Rs 21 thousand and gifts worth Rs 15 thousand

On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the amount of aid under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana has been increased to Rs 50 thousand. On the occasion of marriage, an amount of Rs 21 thousand will be provided to each of the beneficiary as bank draft, along with the gifts worth Rs 15,000. In the current financial year, a target has been set to organize marriage ceremony for three thousand girls from poor families in the first half and 07 thousand 500 girls on an annual basis. This target has been set with the noble aim to realizing the dream of many poor families to get their daughters married respectably

Under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, an amount of Rs 8,000 per beneficiary will be spent on wedding arrangements and transport and Rs 6,000 will be spent on the makeup and bride-groom attires etc. In addition, gift materials worth Rs 15,000 will also be presented to the married couple. It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had increased the amount of aid under the scheme from Rs 15 thousand to Rs 25 thousand in year 2019. And now this amount has been increased to Rs 50 thousand in the budget of 2023-24. Compared to the year 2019, the fixed budget amount for the scheme has also been doubled to Rs 38 crore.

Benefits provided under the scheme

Under this scheme, financial aid is provided for marriage of the daughters of the families living below the poverty line or the ones coming from the beneficiary family of  Mukhyamantri Khadyann Yojana. Maximum two girls of age above 18 years per family will be entitled to avail this scheme. Widows, orphans, destitute girls are also covered under the scheme. To avail this scheme, people can contact the office of the District Women and Child Development Officer / District Program Officer,  and at block-level, the Child Development Project Officer or the Integrated Child Development Officer can be contacted. Information regarding the scheme is also available with from the Anganbadi workers.
