Thousands of Tribals benefited through Special Camps held in PM JANMAN Areas

Raipur : Under the ambitious initiative of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, “Healthy Women, Empowered Families”, special tribal health camps were organised today across the Prime Minister’s Janjatiya Nyay Mission (PM JANMAN) areas of Chhattisgarh. Through these camps, thousands of beneficiaries, including members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), received dedicated healthcare services. This initiative is a reflection of the State Government’s commitment to tribal health empowerment.

In line with today’s theme of the campaign, extensive healthcare services were delivered to PVTG regions through Mobile Medical Units (MMUs). A total of 85 health camps were conducted across 24 districts of the state, with 51 MMUs actively participating. Altogether, 7,825 people benefitted from healthcare services, including 1,815 from PVTG communities in remote tribal belts.

Specialist doctors and trained health personnel provided comprehensive medical check-ups and consultations in these camps, tailored to the needs of tribal communities living in far-flung areas. Under general OPD services, 2,118 people received treatment, while 1,020 underwent hypertension (BP) screening and 1,108 were tested for diabetes. Women’s health was prioritised, with 878 women screened for anaemia and 260 women receiving ANC/PNC check-ups as part of maternal care. In addition, 210 malaria tests, 340 sickle cell screenings, and 112 tuberculosis investigations were carried out. Cancer screening for oral, breast, and cervical cancer covered 150 women. Immunisation services benefitted 185 children, while 145 women availed family planning services. Mental health counselling was extended to 80 individuals, and 60 people benefitted from AYUSH and wellness services.

Awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene were also held, with a special focus on adolescent girls and women. These sessions highlighted safe hygiene practices, the use of sanitary napkins, and ways to prevent infections. Beyond healthcare delivery, this effort has emerged as a transformative step towards promoting healthier lifestyles and greater awareness among women.

The camps not only provided diagnostic and treatment facilities but also spread awareness on nutrition, lifestyle improvements, and the importance of regular health check-ups, instilling confidence within the community.

This campaign stands as a landmark initiative of the State Government and the Health Department, ensuring that essential health services reach remote and tribal-dominated areas. By placing women’s health at its core, the programme is playing a pivotal role in strengthening families and advancing holistic health outcomes across the state.
