Six Maoists Neutralized in Bijapur, Including Rs 8-Lakh Bounty Holder

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Hails Operation as a Major Blow to Maoist Network in South Bastar

Raipur : In a major anti-Maoist operation success, security forces neutralized six Maoists in an encounter inside the National Park region of Bijapur district on Tuesday. Officials confirmed that those killed include Kanna alias Buchanna, a Maoist carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh and known to have played a key role in spreading violence and threats in the area. The operation, jointly conducted by the Chhattisgarh Police, District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), is being viewed as a significant move towards breaking the remaining operational chain of Maoist cadres in south Bastar.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai praised the security personnel for the successful operation, noting that the achievement reflects the forces’ coordinated planning, courage and precise execution in a challenging terrain. He said the state government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the leadership of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, is working in mission mode with a clear commitment to eliminate Left Wing Extremism from Chhattisgarh by 31 March 2026.

Chief Minister added that the state government and security agencies remain united in their resolve to carry this campaign to its final conclusion, reiterating that every such success strengthens the pathway to peace, confidence and development in the region.
