TNINS

The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, the input assistance scheme for farmers including the sugarcane crop, will continue for Kharif year 2022, Forest and Environment Minister Mohammed Akbar said on Monday.

A cabinet meeting also gave nod to providing input assistance for sugarcane based on registration and acreage. Similarly, provision of input aid worth Rs 10,000 per acre will be given on growing other crops instead of paddy during the kharif season.

Making a minor change, the farmer beneficiary will not be eligible for  registration on the same acreage/khasra for the next three years, after the expiry of three years of input aid eligibility (plantation on paddy field).

Under the sugarcane incentive scheme, the remaining incentive amount of Rs 11.99 crore would be paid for the sugarcane crushing year 2020-21.

It was also decided that the bonus of sugarcane crushing year 2021-22 would be adjusted with the exchange grant provided under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana, he said.

The cabinet also approved that in October, November and December this year, additional food grains will be provided on ration cards of the state scheme (except normal ration cards) equivalent to the foodgrain entitlement under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

It was also decided that for October, the regular monthly foodgrains will be at the prescribed consumer rate. In November and December, quantity of rice entitled under the state scheme (except normal ration cards) would be               distributed free of cost.
