The Victoria Terminus railway station in Bombay, India, is now known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The station underwent a name change in 1996 to honor the Maratha warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Historically, Victoria Terminus was designed by British architect Frederick William Stevens and was completed in 1887. It served as the headquarters of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway (GIPR) and played a crucial role in the development of Bombay as a major trade and transportation hub during British colonial rule.

The architectural style of Victoria Terminus is a blend of Victorian Gothic Revival and traditional Indian architectural elements. It features turrets, spires, stained glass windows, and intricate stone carvings, making it a remarkable landmark in Bombay.

Over the years, the station has undergone several renovations and expansions to accommodate the growing number of passengers. However, the original structure and its distinctive features have been preserved.

Today, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus remains one of the busiest railway stations in India and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It serves as a major transportation hub, connecting various parts of India through an extensive railway network. The station continues to be an architectural marvel, attracting tourists and commuters alike.

Inside the station, there are numerous platforms, ticket counters, waiting areas, and amenities for passengers. The iconic central dome, which serves as the main entrance, is a prominent feature that draws attention.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus has witnessed significant changes in terms of technology, infrastructure, and facilities to meet the demands of modern transportation. It continues to be a vital transportation hub and an architectural gem, showcasing the rich heritage of Bombay, now known as Mumbai.
