New Delhi : Chhath Mahaparva started this evening with the blessings of the setting sun in the country and abroad.

The devotees started Chhath Puja, the great festival of Suryopasana, with offering evening ardhya to Lord Surya in various ghats and ponds, they remain at the ghats till the sunrise.

Devotees of Purvanchal started worshipping on the banks of mythical Yamuna river in the capital Delhi. Worship started on the banks of river Ganga in Patna. Migrants from abroad also started worshiping with reverence and gaiety. On this occasion cultural programs have been also organized on New Ashok nagar & many ghats of Delhi and NCR.

In Bheja village of Madhubani district of Bihar, under the leadership of social worker Amrendra Pathak & Arvind Pathak, Yadupati Nath pond has been decorated grandly from all sides, where devotees are offering prayers.

Besides social worker Asha Mishra in Hyderabad,journalist Madhuwala in jamshedpur and poet Meera Kumar in Ghaziabad, thousands of devotees started offering prayers to the setting sun. L.S.
