Various communities came together to celebrate 'Patang Utsav' at Purkhauti Muktangan

Raipur: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai enthusiastically participated in “Patang Utsav” organized today at Purkhauti Muktangan, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. This event was organized by Chhattisgarh Government's Culture Department on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. Various communities came together at Purkhauti Muktangan to celebrate 'Patang Utsav' giving the message of unity and harmony.
 Chief Minister extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Gudi Parva and Lohri. Chief Minister said that this festival is a festival of 'Surya Upasana'.  With the end of Kharmas, opportune time for auspicious works commences from today.  'Praan Pratishtha' for Ramlala will be held on January 22 at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

 At the onset, Chief Minister garlanded the portrait of Chhattisgarh Mahtari and inaugurated 'Patang Utsav' by flying a kite.  On this occasion, MP Mr. Sunil Soni, Culture and Tourism Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal, Agriculture Minister Mr. Ram Vichar Netam, MLA Mr. Anuj Sharma, Mr. Khushwant Saheb, Secretary of Culture Department Mr. Anbalagan P., Director of Culture Department Mr. Vivek Acharya and various other dignitaries were present. A large number of representatives of various communities also participated in the event.  
In his address to the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called upon the countrymen to take up the task of cleaning all the religious places from the day of 'Makar Sankranti' to the day of 'Praan Pratishtha'.  In the same sequence, we have commenced the cleanliness drive by sweeping the floor of Shri Ram Temple premises.

 Chief Minister Shri Sai urged the people of the state to do cleaning work in their nearby religious places, faith centres, temples and Gurudwaras.  He also requested people to light diyas and decorate their houses on the day of Pran Pratistha i.e. on 22nd January.

 Culture Minister Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, while addressing the program, said that Makar Sankranti is the auspicious day of Surya Dev moving from Dakshinayan to Uttarayan.  This festival is celebrated across the country with the names like Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Gudi Parva and Lohri etc.   Today various communities including Gujarati, Telugu, Maharashtrian, Sikh, Marwari have come together to celebrate 'Patang Utsav', symbolising the unity and integrity of the country.  Shri Anbalagan P., Secretary, Culture Department, gave the welcome address.  Chief Minister Shri Sai was welcomed by representatives of various communities on this occasion.
