Big blow to Hemant Soren from Supreme Court, refusal to interfere in petition against arrest

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given a big blow to former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. While hearing his petition, the Supreme Court has clearly refused to interfere in this matter. The Supreme Court has said that we are not willing to hear this petition at this time. The court has asked Hemant Soren to go to Jharkhand High Court. The Supreme Court has told Hemant Soren that the courts are open to everyone. And the High Court is a constitutional court. If we give permission to one person, we will have to give permission to everyone.

However, the Supreme Court has also rejected the demand to direct the Ranchi High Court to hear this petition soon. The court said that we will control the constitutional court. After this stance of the Supreme Court, now Hemant Soren can soon demand a hearing in the High Court.

ED has made serious allegations against Hemant Soren

It is noteworthy that after the arrest of Hemant Soren, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had claimed that the arrested former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has a dozen plots of land with a total area of about 8.5 acres in illegal possession and use. Let us tell you that Soren (48) was arrested by ED on Wednesday night soon after resigning from the post of Chief Minister.

The agency interrogated him for more than seven hours a day. The criminal case registered by the federal agency against the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader stems from an ECIR (similar to a primary) of June 2023. Earlier, raids were conducted at various places in the state against state government employees and revenue department sub-inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad.

Many officers are also being investigated

According to official records, the ED recovered 11 big boxes containing land documents from the premises of Revenue Department sub-inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad. Besides, 17 original accounts were also recovered. The ED claims that Prasad was the custodian of many of the original accounts of land records and their government ownership details. The agency has alleged that Prasad was involved in corrupt practices, including falsification of original records, and that he was involved with several persons in activities related to fraudulent purchase of various properties.

Recently, ED shared this information with the Jharkhand government, which had registered an FIR against Prasad on June 1, 2023 at Sadar Police Station, Ranchi. The central agency took cognizance of this FIR to register an ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report) on June 26, 2023. ED claims that Prasad was actively involved in conspiring with others to purchase and conceal several properties including illegal properties of Hemant Soren.
