Whether Borey-Basi or Madiya Pej, Mr. Baghel has become the flag bearer of Chhattisgarhi culture in his ‘Bhent Mulaqat’ campaign

 Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel on his extensive tour of 90 assembly constituencies of Chhattisgarh, is not only taking the feedback of the implementation of numerous schemes, but is also promoting Chhattisgarhi culture with great beauty. During this journey, Mr. Baghel has subtly displayed the diverse and rich Chhatisgarhi culture by promoting local cuisine, customs and rituals. Every afternoon of the meet-and-greets becomes all the more interesting when all eyes are on the Chhattisgarhi cuisine served on Mr. Baghel's plate Sometimes, the plate contains Borey-Basi sometimes madiya-pej, sometimes they are relishing the taste of Pehta-Tilori and sometimes of Lakda-chutney and Koliari Bhaji.

After the completion of the first phase meeting in Surguja division, the second phase has started in Bastar division from May 18. He had started the first phase from Balrampur district located at the very northern end of the state, now he has started the second phase from Konta assembly constituency of Sukma district located at the very southern end. When they reached Chhindgarh, it was time for lunch. Mr. Ayta Mandavi, a villager of Chhindgarh, had arranged for his food in the traditional Bastar style under the shade of his house. Sitting on the ground, he tasted koliari bhaji, mango chutney and dal-bhaat which were served in leaf plates or ‘pattal’. The most special part of his lunch was the Madiya-Pej, which is also the delicacy identity of Bastar. It is a refreshing drink that can also be used to combat heatstroke.

Before setting out on a meet-and-greet campaign, Mr. Baghel had promoted the traditional Chhattisgarhi staple meal of Borey-Basi, on May 01. This visit of Mr. Baghel has brought an important discussion about his plans and policies as well as exploring the cuisine of Chhattisgarh. On the initiative of Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, who considers culture and self-respect as an important component in his strategy for the development of the state, now public holidays like Teeja-Pora, Hareli, Karma Jayanti, Chhath, World Tribal Day and Maa Shakambhari Jayanti are being celebrated in the state with great enthusiasm. Local delicacies like Typhari, Khurmi, Dhuska, Cheela are being promoted by setting up a cultural restaurant 'Garh-Kaleva' in every district of the state.
