Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended the Chhath Mahaparv celebrations at Mahadev Ghat in Raipur on November 7. He extended warm greetings to all the devotees on this significant festival. He remarked that Chhath Puja and Sun worship serve as a bridge between humanity and nature.

During the event, Chief Minister Shri Sai participated in the ‘Mangal Aarti’ ceremony of ‘Chhathi Maiya’ along the Kharoon River bank. The Chhath Parv Ayojan Samiti organised the event at Mahadev Ghat. He praised the organising committee for the splendid arrangements. He stated that devotees eagerly await Chhath Parv each year, with participants travelling from various regions to be part of the celebrations. He shared that the government makes special transportation arrangements, including trains, to ease travel for devotees.

The Chief Minister emphasised that Chhath involves disciplined rituals and fasting to honour the Sun God, with devotees performing puja at riverbanks, lakes, and water bodies, deepening our connection to nature. On this occasion, he urged everyone to pledge towards the conservation and preservation of water resources.

In his speech, Chief Minister Sai also paid tribute to the late singer Smt. Sharda Sinha, acknowledging her Chhath songs that resonate across generations. He offered prayers to Chhathi Maiya and the Sun God, seeking blessings for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the people of Chhattisgarh.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, addressed the gathering, stating that Chhath Mahaparv is a festival of reverence for the five basic elements (Panch Mahabhuta) that form our bodies. He highlighted the unique aspect of Chhath Puja, where prayers are offered to both the rising and setting sun, and wished everyone the blessings of Chhathi Maiya.

Member of Parliament Shri Brijmohan Agrawal remarked on the long-standing efforts of the Mahadev Ghat Committee, which has organised Chhath celebrations for the past 10-15 years. He shared that worshipping the Sun during Chhath teaches resilience through life’s challenges and extended his heartfelt wishes to all on this sacred festival.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Dr. Raman Singh, Member of Parliament Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, MLAs Shri Purandar Mishra, Shri Sampat Agrawal, Shri Anuj Sharma, former MP Shri Sunil Soni, Swami Shri Rajeevlochan Ji Maharaj, Shri Ram Pratap Singh, Shri Sanjay Srivastava, Shri Pankaj Sharma, members of the Chhath Committee Mahadev Ghat, and a large number of devotees were present at Mahadev Ghat
