15 thousand new houses approved in urban bodies
All cities of the state included, approval of new houses based on Chhattisgarh's performance in the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Central Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs gave approval under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0
Raipur : Due to the rapid completion of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and good performance in the scheme, 15 thousand new houses have been approved for the state by the Government of India. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved 15 thousand new houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Manohar Lal for the approval of new houses.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai thanked the Central Government for the approval of 15 thousand new houses for cities and said that the dream of every poor person to have a permanent house in the state will soon be fulfilled. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, construction of houses is being completed rapidly in both rural and urban areas. The government will ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach every person standing at the last end.
These houses have been approved for all the cities of the state due to the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and the efforts of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Saw.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India has sent a letter of in-principle approval of 15 thousand new houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 to the Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department of the State Government. The letter also mentions the approval of 15 thousand new houses by the Central Government to Chhattisgarh by March 2025 as well as the quick implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the state behind the approval of these new houses. While approving housing for all the urban bodies of the state, the ministry has also sent its list. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has directed the state government to send a formal proposal to the Government of India after examining the eligible beneficiaries in accordance with the guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0.
The implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 has been started by the Government of India from 1 September 2024 under the 'Housing for All' mission in urban areas. Under this, financial assistance will be provided to the urban poor and middle class families of weaker income groups, lower income groups and middle income groups for construction, purchase or rent of houses at affordable rates. Implementing the scheme in all urban bodies in Chhattisgarh, the beneficiary survey work (Rapid Assessment Survey) has been started on the unified web portal of the Government of India from 15 November. During the survey, information of the beneficiaries is being recorded on the portal of the Government of India.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw expressed happiness over the approval of new houses and said that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to provide housing to every eligible family. He has directed all the urban bodies to extend the benefits of the scheme to maximum beneficiaries. Shri Saw has directed not to cancel the applications immediately due to lack of mandatory documents during the ongoing beneficiary survey. Along with giving sufficient time to the concerned families to complete the documents, he has also asked the urban bodies to coordinate with the Revenue Department and make every possible effort to provide the necessary documents. On the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao, the Secretary of the Urban Administration Department has also written a letter to the Revenue Department to issue the pending caste certificate and income certificate of the beneficiaries in the revenue offices on priority.
