Chief Minister Shri Sai attended the oath taking ceremony of Indian Medical Association
Raipur : Our state is celebrating the silver jubilee year of its establishment. We have taken steps towards developed Chhattisgarh. The development journey of Chhattisgarh is moving forward with the mantra of health to prosperity. Today Chhattisgarh is becoming a big center of medical tourism. There was a time when people used to go to Delhi-Mumbai for the treatment of many serious diseases. Today, the most serious diseases are being treated by the charitable doctors of Raipur city. From heart and kidney transplant to diseases like cancer, treatment is being done with the latest technology in the hospitals of Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said this during the oath taking ceremony of Indian Medical Association today.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is making every possible effort to provide the best possible medical facilities to the citizens. To strengthen the medical system from primary health centers to district hospitals, better resources, necessary infrastructure is being developed and along with this, doctors and medical staff are being recruited. Our government has implemented Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana as well as Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Health Scheme to expand health facilities in the state. Under the Ayushman Yojana, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh is being provided to poor families and citizens of all categories above 70 years of age and free treatment up to Rs 50 thousand is being provided to APL families. Apart from this, assistance is also being given from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the treatment of complex diseases.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that there are a total of 14 medical colleges in Chhattisgarh, including 10 government and 4 private medical colleges.
Buildings of four new medical colleges are being constructed in the state. Health services will be expanded by the construction of medical colleges in Janjgir Champa, Kabirdham, Manendragarh and Geedam. A large number of people from abroad are also coming to Chhattisgarh for treatment. This is a matter of pride for us. He said that organizations like IMA can play an important role in becoming the voice of doctors as well as strengthening the relationship between doctor and patient.
Addressing the program, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that work is being done to make health services easy and strong in Chhattisgarh. Only with the cooperation and dedication of the doctors, we will be able to take Chhattisgarh to new heights in the field of medicine. He said that the government has increased financial powers to improve medical facilities in the medical colleges of the state. Throwing light on the achievements of the state in the field of medical services and medical education, he said that Chhattisgarh is the leading state in the country in sickle cell screening. One crore 29 lakh people have been screened here. Establishment of sickle cell research institute and bone marrow transplant facility will be started in the state. For this, Rs 48 crore has been approved. He assured IMA Raipur that the government will provide all possible support to doctors and in the works of public interest. Former MLA Dr. Vimal Chopra also addressed the program.
Newly elected President of IMA Dr. Kuldeep Solanki said that the association will provide all possible support for the expansion of medical services and medical education in the state. He said that IMA will fulfill the responsibility of coordination between the administration and the medical service provider with full commitment. MLAs Purandar Mishra, Sunil Soni, IMA Chhattisgarh President Dr. Prabhat Pandey, Dr. Purnendu Saxena, Indian Medical Association officials and a large number of doctors were present in the program.
