Rath Yatra is held in Chhattisgarh on the lines of Odisha

Odisha state is famous in India for Rath Yatra. Being a neighboring state of Odisha, this festival has a wide influence in Chhattisgarh as well. In the Rath Yatra taken out today, Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra were worshipped with special rituals. According to the priest of the temple, this is a symbol of an unbreakable partnership between the Utkal culture and the culture of South Kosal. It is believed that the original place of Lord Jagannath is Shivrinarayan Tirtha of Chhattisgarh, from where he was established in Jagannath Puri. In Shivrinarayan itself, in the Treta Yuga, Lord Shri Ram had accepted the sweet berries offered by Mother Shabari with love. At present, a grand temple of Nar-Narayan is established here.

On this occasion, Revenue Minister Shri Tankaram Verma, MP Shri Brijmohan Agarwal, MLA Shri Purandar Mishra, Shri Dharmlal Kaushik along with other dignitaries and a large number of devotees were present.
