Chhattisgarh to Launch First-Ever ‘Khelo India Tribal Games’ at State Youth Festival 2025
Raipur : The Sports and Youth Welfare Department will organise the State Youth Festival 2025 from December 23 to 25 at the State Sports Training Centre, Bahtarai, Bilaspur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will formally inaugurate the festival on December 23. Around 3,000 young participants from across the state will showcase their talent in 14 cultural and literary disciplines during the three-day event. On the occasion of the inauguration, the first-ever ‘Khelo India Tribal Games’, to be hosted by Chhattisgarh, will also be officially launched.
The inaugural ceremony will be presided over by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Sports & Youth Welfare, Shri Arun Sao. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma will attend the festival as special guests. Governor Shri Ramen Deka will grace the closing ceremony on December 25 as the Chief Guest.
Organised before the National Youth Festival 2026, the State Youth Festival aims to connect the youth of Chhattisgarh with cultural activities, refine their creative abilities, and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent at the national level. Competitions will be held in 14 disciplines, comprising eight group events and six individual events. The group events include folk dance, Panthi dance, Raut Nacha, Sua dance, Karma dance, folk songs, rock band performances, and one-act plays. The individual events include debate, story writing, painting, poetry writing, innovation (science fair), and traditional attire.
Winners in five selected disciplines—folk dance, folk song, debate, painting, and poetry writing—will represent Chhattisgarh at the National Youth Festival–2026 to be held in New Delhi.
At the State Youth Festival, participants securing first place in group events will receive a prize of Rs. 20,000, second-place winners will receive Rs. 15,000, and third-place winners will receive Rs. 10,000. In individual events, first, second, and third prize winners will be awarded Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000, and Rs. 2,000, respectively. Every participant taking part in the festival will also be given an encouragement amount of Rs. 1,000.
The festival will also feature a range of cultural programmes including performances by renowned artists, band shows, and a poets’ meet. On December 23, the inaugural day, the Arug Band, led by Shri Anuj Sharma, will perform at the State Sports Training Centre, Bahtarai, from 5 pm to 8 pm, accompanied by an exceptional Mallakhamb performance by artists from Narayanpur. Later the same evening, from 8:30 pm onwards, a poets’ meet will be organised at the Bilaspur Police Ground, featuring noted poet Dr Kumar Vishwas and other eminent poets. On December 24, performances by the Kafila Band and Swapnil Live Band will take place at the Bahtarai centre from 6 pm. On the final day, December 24, performances by Sushri Aru Sahu and the Dayra (Bastar) Band will be held from 6 pm, followed by the prize distribution ceremony for the winning participants at the closing event.
