Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has expressed deep sorrow over the death of an 8-year-old second standard student Divya Mandavi due to a scorpion bite in village Bandhi of Bemetara district. He has directed the district administration of Bemetara to provide all possible help to the family members of the girl student. The Chief Minister has directed the administration to provide financial assistance to the girl's family under the provisions of the Student Accident Insurance Scheme and Revenue Book Circular.
According to the information received from the District Education Officer of Bemetra, a check of one lakh rupees has been given to Sukhram Mandavi, father of late student Divya Mandavi, under the student protection insurance. At the same time, an amount of Rs 4 lakh will soon be provided by the district administration Bemetara to the father of the late student under the provisions of the Revenue Book Circular.
According to the information received from District Education Officer Bemetara, Divya was bitten by a scorpion hiding under a brick in the school premises during the midday break on June 29 at 2 pm in the Government Primary School of Village Bandhi. This information was given by the headmaster Mr. Ramji Sahu to Divya's parents and Divya was taken to the Primary Health Center, Dadhi, where Divya was given first aid. After first aid, Divya was referred to Bemetara District Hospital. After an investigation by the district hospital, Divya was referred to Raipur. On reaching Simga while being taken from Bemetara to Raipur, Divya's condition deteriorated and she was taken to the health center of Simga where after the investigation Divya was declared dead by the doctors.
