Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel will virtually release an amount of Rs.1750 crore to the bank accounts of farmers, cattle rearers, Gauthan committees and women SHGs

Women SHGs associated with Gauthans have earned Rs 78.62 crore

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi ji, which falls on August 20, Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel will virtually release an amount of Rs.1750 crore 24 lakh to the farmers, livestock villagers, Gauthan committees and women self-help groups. This amount will be given under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Godhan Nyay Yojana of the Chhattisgarh government. During the program that will be organized at the Chief Minister's residence office, he will interact virtually with the people's representatives of the state, farmers, cow herders and women of SHGs.

Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, an amount of Rs.1745 crore will be transferred to 26 lakh 21 thousand farmers of the state as the second instalment of this year's input subsidy on August 20. Earlier on May 21, 2022, Rs.1745 was paid to the farmers of the state as the first instalment of this scheme. Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana Chhattisgarh has been started in Kharif year 2019. Under this scheme, an input subsidy of Rs.12 thousand 920 crores has been released to the farmers so far. After the payment of the second instalment on August 20, this amount will reach Rs.14 thousand 665 crores. It is noteworthy that in Kharif 2019, an input subsidy of Rs.5627 crore has been released to 18.43 lakh farmers in 4 instalments, and Rs.5553 crore has been released to 20.59 lakh farmers in Kharif year 2020. Under this scheme, an input subsidy is provided to the farmers to promote crop productivity and crop diversification in the state and also to reduce the cost of cultivation.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will release an amount of Rs.5 crores 24 lakh to the livestock farmers, Gauthan committees and women SHGs under the Godhan Nyay Yojana on August 20. In the last two years, an amount of Rs.330 crore has been paid to cow dung vendors, Gauthan committees and women's groups under the Godhan Nyay Yojana. After the payment of the 50th instalment of Rs 5.24 crore under this scheme on August 20, this amount will reach Rs. 335 crores 24 lakh. Under Godhan Nyay Yojna, the purchase of cow dung at the rate of Rs.2 per kg in Gauthans is being started on July 20, 2020, from the ‘Hareli’ festival. Till August 15, 2022, 79.12 lakh quintals of cow dung have been purchased in Gauthans. 8408 Gauthans are operating in the state, where more than 2 lakh 52 thousand livestock farmers including more than 1 lakh 43 thousand landless farmers are directly selling cow dung.

Godhan Nyay Yojana is the only scheme in the country and the world, under which cow dung at the rate of Rs.2 per kg and cow urine at the rate of Rs.4 per litre is procured in the Gauthans of Chhattisgarh state. An amount of Rs.155.6 crore has also been paid to villagers for selling cow dung till July 31 in Gauthans. After the payment of Rs.2.64 crore to cow dung vendors on August 20, this figure will reach Rs.158.24 crore. An amount of Rs.151.60 crore has been paid so far to Gauthan committees and women self-help groups. After payment of Rs.2.60 crore to Gauthan committees and self-help groups on August 20, this figure will reach Rs.154.02 crore.

In Gauthans, vermicompost, super-compost, super-compost plus and other products are being produced on a large scale from cow dung purchased under Godhan Nyay Yojana by women groups. 17.27 lakh quintals of vermicompost, more than 5.21 lakh quintals of super compost and 18,924 quintals of super compost plus manure have been produced by women's groups, which are being supplied through societies to various departments of the government and farmers at concessional rates. Apart from producing manure from cow dung, women's groups are earning profit by manufacturing and selling gau-casts, lamps, incense sticks, idols and other materials. Apart from this, various income-oriented activities are being conducted by women groups in Gauthans, besides vegetable and mushroom cultivation, poultry, goat, and fish farming, through which women groups have earned an income of Rs.78.62 crore so far. There are 13,969 SHGs directly associated with Gauthans in the state, with a member of 83,874. Electricity generation has been started in Gauthans from purchased cow dung.

It is noteworthy that the production of natural paint from cow dung has also started in Hirapur-Jarwai Gauthan of Raipur. Fulling the determination of Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel, Gauthans are being developed as Rural Industrial Parks. In order to promote income-oriented activities, agricultural and forest produce based processing units, units for manufacturing natural paint from cow dung are being established. The work for setting up mini rice mills and other types of units including Oil mills in 227 Gauthans and Pulse Mills in 292 Gauthans is in progress.

For the protection and conservation of cows in the state, construction of Gauthans is being done at a rapid pace in the villages. There is better management of livestock, treatment and free fodder and water in Gauthans. So far, approval has been given for the construction of Gauthans in 10,624 villages in the State, out of which 8408 Gauthans have been constructed and 1758 Gauthans are under construction. So far, the self-supporting Gauthans have purchased cow dung worth Rs 17.82 crore from their own funds. More than 2 lakh 52 thousand rural populace, livestock farmers are getting benefited from Godhan Nyay Yojana. Among those who earn extra income by selling cow dung, 46.05 per cent number is of women. More than 1 lakh 43 thousand landless families are getting benefited from this scheme.
