SJF condemns against attacks on journalists and activists in Srilanka

Colombo. SAARC Journalists Forum SJF strongly condemn the incident against the attacks and arrests of journalists and activists of Srilanka. SJF President Raju Lama and General Secretary Md Abdur Rahman released a press statement and condemned the incident occurred against journalists and activists in Srilanka. 
"We come to know video journalists Chaturanga and Kasun kumarage of Sri Lanka Press Institute has been arrested by Sri Lanka army just before. They were reporting tense situation at presidential secretariat of Sri Lanka. Like wise, Ex-reporter of Ravaya news paper Rasika Gunawardana has been assaulted by Sri Lanka army. Sabeer Mohomad, a journalist of exposer news and a member of hashtag Generation threatened by army, BBC Tamil Journalist Jereen Samuels has assaulted and Activist and lawyer Nuwan Bopage has been arrested," said in statement. 
"SAARC Journalists Forum SJF want to express solidarity with Lasantha De Silva Coordinator of Srilanka SJF and Convener of FMM who had protests and condemned the incident. We demand with Srilanka government to immediately stop these kinds of incidents and assure press and expression freedom there as well urge to take action on convict security personnel," mentioned in press statement released by SAARC Journalists Forum SJF.
