Big companies like Adani power, Jindal and NTPC to invest in thermal and nuclear power

New Delhi : Chhattisgarh has attracted investments worth Rs3,01,086 crore through various industrial proposals in the energy sector at the ‘Chhattisgarh Energy Investors Summit 2025’. These investment proposals have been made under different schemes of the state government, aiming to boost the state's energy infrastructure. This includes investments in nuclear, thermal, solar, and pumped storage power generation projects, which will not only benefit industries but also provide the common people with affordable and uninterrupted electricity.

“This investment in the energy sector in Chhattisgarh will elevate the state's power generation capacity to new levels and lay the foundation for a sustainable, green future by promoting renewable energy. The goal is for Chhattisgarh to not only become self-sufficient in energy but also establish itself as an energy hub for the entire country,” Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said.

The proposed investment in the thermal power sector is worth a total of Rs107,840 Crore consisting both private investors and public sector undertakings (PSUs). Private investors are set to contribute Rs66,720 Crore, with Adani Power leading the way with investments in several projects, including Rs18,000 Crore for the Korba 1600MW plant, Rs15,000 Crore for the Raigarh 1600MW plant, Rs15,000 Crore for the Raipur 1600MW plant, and Rs620 Crore for a Korba 1320MW plant.

Jindal Power is set to invest Rs12,800 Crore in a 1600MW plant in Raigarh, while Sarda is contributing Rs5,300 Crore for a 660MW plant in Raigarh.

On the other hand, PSUs are proposing a total investment of Rs41,120 Crore, with NTPC committing Rs15,530 Crore for the Lara 1600MW project in Raigarh and Rs9,790 Crore for the Sipat 800MW plant in Bilaspur. CSPGCL is also investing Rs15,800 Crore in the Korba 1320MW project. This collective investment demonstrates a strong push to expand and upgrade thermal power generation capacity in the region.

NTPC has planned to set up a 4200 MW nuclear power project at an investment of Rs80,000 crore, marking the beginning of nuclear power generation in the state.

Chhattisgarh has also achieved significant success in the field of solar energy. Jindal Power and NTPC Green together will produce 2500 MW of solar power by investing Rs10,000 crore. This includes 500 MW solar plants in Doleshra and 2000 MW in Raigarh.

In addition, there is good news for farmers. Under the PM Kusum Yojana, 675 MW of solar power will be generated at a cost of Rs4100 crore, and 20,000 solar pumps will be installed. This will provide affordable electricity to farmers for irrigation, reducing their reliance on diesel pumps.

Pumped storage projects with a total capacity of 8700 MW will also be developed at an investment of Rs57,046 crore. These projects include 1800 MW at SJN Kotpali and 3000 MW by Jindal Renewable.

An investment of Rs57,046 crore is being directed towards pumped storage projects, which will greatly enhance the state’s hydropower capacity. Major companies are participating in this initiative, with plans to develop several large-scale projects. These include an 1800 MW hydropower project in Kotpali, a 1400 MW hydropower scheme in Dangri, and a 3000 MW hydropower project by Jindal Renewable Company.

Chhattisgarh is investing heavily in its energy infrastructure, with Rs3,200 crore allocated for CREDA Solar Initiatives and Rs 6,000 crore for the PM Surya Scheme to expand solar energy. The state will also invest Rs 2,500 crore in government building solar projects, Rs 2,600 crore in Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Rs17,000 crore to upgrade power transmission. Rs10,800 crore will be invested under the RDSS to improve power distribution efficiency. These efforts will strengthen the state's energy capabilities and reliability.

With all these investments, Chhattisgarh is set to become one of the largest energy-producing states in the country. This will benefit industries, farmers, and the general public, while also boosting the state’s economy.

International President of the organization Ram Nath Vidrohi has said that the Chief Justice of India will soon be requested to settle the cases of journalists and non-journalists in various labor courts of the country at a fast pace, so that the journalists who have been making rounds of the courts for years in collusion with newspaper owners can get relief.

Chief Minister Directs Officials to Ensure High-Quality and Timely Completion of MGNREGA Projects

Emphasis on Integrating MGNREGA with Other Schemes to Accelerate Rural Development

Raipur : A meeting of the Chhattisgarh Rural Employment Guarantee Council was held today at the Chief Minister's Office in Vidhansabha Campus, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. The meeting reviewed ongoing projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Chief Minister Shri Sai directed officials to ensure the highest quality and timely execution of MGNREGA projects to maximize benefits for rural families.

He particularly emphasized prioritizing Dharasa approach road construction and the Amrit Sarovar Project to strengthen rural infrastructure and promote water conservation.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the Chhattisgarh government’s objective is not just to provide employment but to make rural areas self-reliant. MGNREGA projects are being implemented with a long-term vision to ensure holistic rural development. He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in the implementation process so that the scheme serves as a strong foundation for empowering the poor. In-Depth Discussion on Effective Implementation of MGNREGA in the State

The meeting included a comprehensive review of the financial progress for FY 2023-24 and 2024-25, the labour budget for 2025-26, key performance indicators of the scheme, and the convergence model for better implementation. The annual progress report from 2019-20 to 2023-24 was also presented.

MGNREGA Commissioner Shri Rajat Bansal informed that out of 38.52 lakh registered families in the state, 24.89 lakh families have been provided employment. Under the Amrit Sarovar Scheme, a target has been set to construct 2,902 reservoirs, out of which 1,095 have been approved, 299 have been completed, and work is in progress on 472 sites.

You need not worry about accommodation or meals—our government has established the Chhattisgarh Pavilion over 4.5 acres in Sector 6 of the Kumbh Mela area, providing free lodging and food for all devotees."

With these words, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai had earlier invited the people of Chhattisgarh to experience the spiritual grandeur of Maha Kumbh 2025. Understanding the aspirations of his people, CM Sai collaborated with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath to secure a dedicated space for Chhattisgarh devotees, ensuring they could participate in the world’s largest spiritual congregation without any worries.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai exercised his democratic right today by casting his vote in the third phase of the three-tier Panchayat elections. He voted at Polling Station No. 45, located at Government Primary School, Bagiya, Kansabel Block, Jashpur District.

Setting an example of responsible citizenship, Chief Minister Shri Sai patiently stood in line, waited for his turn, and diligently followed all election protocols before casting his vote. His participation underscored the significance of electoral engagement and democratic responsibility.

Accompanying him were his mother, Smt. Jasmani Devi, wife, Smt. Kaushalya Sai, brother, Shri Vinod Sai, and other family members, who also exercised their voting rights, reinforcing the message of civic duty and active participation.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today graced the closing ceremony of the Late Dilip Singh Judeo Memorial All India Gold Cup Football Tournament in Jashpur. The high-profile tournament, which saw participation from elite teams across 16 states, was held at Ranjita Stadium from 8th to 23rd February 2025.

Addressing a packed stadium, CM Sai reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming Chhattisgarh into a powerhouse of sports. He said that cash incentives of ₹3 crore for Olympic gold medalists, ₹2 crore for silver medalists, and ₹1 crore for bronze medalists has been declared, emphasizing the state’s dedication to fostering world-class talent.

As a historic boost for sports infrastructure, CM Sai announced the complete renovation of Ranjita Stadium, ensuring it meets international standards to host major national and international events. He underlined that Chhattisgarh is steadily rising as a dominant force in Indian sports, thanks to increasing participation and government initiatives.

The final match witnessed an electrifying showdown between Railway Nagpur and MEG Bengaluru, drawing thousands of spectators from Jashpur and beyond. CM Sai, along with distinguished guests, enjoyed the thrilling encounter and personally congratulated the victorious team.

Praising the seamless execution of the tournament, CM Sai lauded the organizing committee for hosting a spectacular event and pledged even bigger, grander tournaments in the future.

For the first time in years, national-level teams competed at Ranjita Stadium, marking a revival of top-tier football in the region. The event attracted a massive turnout, with enthusiastic crowds from urban and rural areas gathering to witness history in the making.

Announcement of sanctioning Rs. 10 lakh for Balika Griha

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai reached the Government Balika Griha located at Khamhardih in the capital Raipur and celebrated his birthday with simplicity with little smiles. Chief Minister Shri Sai shared his special day with these little smiles and gave the message that participating in the happiness of every section of the society is the identity of true leadership.

Chief Minister Shri Sai cut the cake with the girls in the Balika Griha, spent time with them and listened to their innocent laughter and talks with affection. During this, the girls expressed their small wishes in front of him, which also included the demand for a sound box. The Chief Minister immediately fulfilled it and presented this gift to the Balika Griha. Apart from this, he announced to provide Rs. 10 lakh for computers, water coolers and other arrangements in the Balika Griha, so that there is no inconvenience in the education of the girls living here.

Chief Minister Shri Sai shared memories of his school life on this occasion. He told that the primary school in his village was of thatched roofs, and water used to drip during rainy days. He told the girls that they are lucky that they have got a better hostel and a good environment for studies. Giving examples of the life struggles of great personalities of the country and the world, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that instead of being afraid of struggles, they should make them their strength. He assured the girls that the state government will provide all possible help for their bright future.

It is worth mentioning that at present 57 girls are living in the Balika Griha, where the Women and Child Development Department is providing them free accommodation, food, education and medical facilities. Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government has taken a historic step to ensure transparency, accountability and effective administration of governance in the state. In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the Good Governance and Convergence Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Center for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) and Transforming Rural India (TRI). This partnership will strengthen administrative efficiency, effective monitoring and implementation of schemes.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that ensuring correct and effective use of resources is our priority. For this purpose, we have established the 'Good Governance and Convergence Department' in the state. This 58th department will not only simplify the administrative processes but will also help in the effective implementation of government schemes. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the MoU signed today will bring revolutionary changes in administrative transparency, financial discipline and policy making.

E-governance and digital transformation will get a boost

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that facilities like e-governance, digital transformation, grievance redressal mechanism and real-time monitoring of schemes will get a new dimension from this initiative. This MoU will not only promote skill development and capacity upgradation of government employees and youth, but will also make the schemes of governance more effective and smooth. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that corruption will be strictly curbed and the general public will get the benefits of government schemes without any hindrance.

Policy making will get a new direction with the cooperation of CEGIS and TRI

CeGIS founder Shri Karthik Muralidharan said that we will work with the Chhattisgarh government to provide technical, analytical and strategic support for the effective implementation of the state's policies and schemes. Also, we will support the governance in strategic budgeting and financial management. He also said that Chhattisgarh will get extensive benefits from global level expertise and data-driven policy making.

Rural development will get a new dimension with the cooperation of TRI

Under the agreement with TRI for sustainable development of rural areas, education, health, women empowerment and water conservation will get a new direction. Associate Director of TRI, Shri Shreesh Kalyani said that we will work with the Government of Chhattisgarh to strengthen local governance, increase community participation and accelerate rural development. This is an important step towards bringing about comprehensive reforms in areas like education, health, agriculture-based livelihood and climate adaptation.

Chief Minister Shri Sai congratulated and wished the representatives of the Department of Good Governance and Convergence, CEGIS and TRI for this important agreement. He said that this partnership will open a new path of administrative reforms in Chhattisgarh and the people of the state will get quick and effective benefits of the schemes.
