Raipur : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the Sushasan Samvad program held at Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi on July 18. He underscored his government's dedication to good governance and transparency, detailing the various efforts taken to implement effective policies for the state's welfare and development.

During the Sushasan Samvad program, marking six months of his government, Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted the achievements and initiatives undertaken. He noted that the biggest challenge for the BJP government was maintaining the trust of the people. He stated that within just 100 days, the government succeeded in restoring this trust by fulfilling the guarantees promised by Shri Modi ji in the state manifesto.

Chief Minister Shri Sai addressed various public questions, emphasising that his administration had effectively eliminated systemic corruption and revenue loss prevalent under the previous government. He mentioned that public works are now being carried out smoothly, discouraging those who previously benefitted from commissions. He affirmed, “Both the intention and policy of our government are right.”

Focusing on efforts against Naxalism, he stated, "Our government has made significant strides in strengthening security in Naxal-affected areas. We have established security camps in these areas and accelerated development works, achieving substantial success not only in security but also in development."

During the program, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai emphasised the numerous steps his government has taken to promote transparency and good governance in Chhattisgarh. He stated, "We have simplified and made administrative processes transparent so that the public can quickly and effectively find solutions to their problems."

Highlighting his government's achievements, Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that immediately upon taking office, they provided Pradhan Mantri Awas to 18,12,743 needy families, as guaranteed by Shri Modi ji. Farmers received two years of pending paddy bonuses, and paddy purchase commenced at the promised rate of Rs 3100 per quintal, with a limit of up to 21 quintals per acre. Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, financial assistance of Rs 1000 per month is being provided to women in the state. The remuneration rate for tendupatta collection has been increased from Rs 4000 to Rs 5500 per standard sack.

Chief Minister Sai stated that his government has brought substantial development and good governance to the state, taking significant steps to enhance security. He stated, "We are adding value and preparing for our vision of Chhattisgarh's future. We have initiated numerous new projects for the state's development and are providing all necessary facilities to the public."

Sharing his vision and plans during the Sushasan Samvad program, Chief Minister Shri Sai affirmed his government's unwavering commitment to the state's development and public interest. He stated, "We are continuously working towards making Chhattisgarh a model state."

45 couples tie the knot in Raigarh under this scheme

Raipur : A total of 45 couples tied the knot under Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana in Raigarh district on Tuesday. The main objective of the scheme is to alleviate the financial difficulties faced by poor families, prevent wasteful expenditure on weddings, and improve social status by organizing mass marriages. An amount of Rs 35,000 was transferred to the bank account of each couple in the name of the bride by the government. Bags, makeup items, clothes, and other gifts were given to the bride and groom, along with marriage certificates.

Among the beneficiaries, Smt. Devanti Sidar, a resident of Gopalpur, Boirdadar, and Smt. Bharti, a resident of Bhagwanpur, shared that they got married on July 16 under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. They were registered through an Anganwadi worker and benefited from the scheme. They mentioned that due to poverty, it was a huge challenge for their families to arrange the marriage, but the scheme helped solve this problem easily. They thanked Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, stating that the scheme has reduced the financial burden on their parents and enabled them to have the wedding they wanted.

Chhattisgarh government is running many schemes for women, including Mahtari Vandan Yojana and Mahtari Jatan Yojana. Among these is the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, which provides assistance to financially weak families for the marriage of their daughters. The scheme significantly reduces the financial burden on parents, helping families with limited financial resources marry off their daughters. Parents of daughters often start worrying as soon as their daughters reach marriageable age. It is every parent's dream to have a grand wedding for their daughter, but financial constraints often hinder this dream. In such situations, the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana proves to be a boon, alleviating the financial burden on thousands of families and easing their worries.

Raipur : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed in detail the Chhattisgarh Vision @ 2047 created for the long-term development of Chhattisgarh.

During this important meeting held at his residence in New Delhi, the Chief Minister informed the Union minister that the state government has identified eight different areas towards developed Chhattisgarh. He added that a working committee has been formed to accelerate development in these areas, which is regularly discussing with the common people and experts and preparing an effective action plan.

Chief Minister Sai also apprised the Union Home Minister about the effective action being taken against the supply and funding network of Maoists in the state. He informed that the state government has taken strict steps to curb the activities of Maoists and dismantle their financial network.

The Chief Minister also informed the Home Minister about Naxal operations and development works in Maoist-affected areas. He added that infrastructure is being expanded rapidly in Maoist areas, and the state government has conducted special campaigns for education and health services in these areas.

During the meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah appreciated the efforts of the Chhattisgarh Government and assured full support of the Central Government to maintain peace and stability in the state.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended a state-level dialogue program, “Mor Sapna Mor Viksit Chhattisgarh” organised by the Rajya NITI Aayog to prepare the Chhattisgarh Vision 2047 document. The event took place at the New Circuit House on July 16. In his address, Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the vision document for 'Viksit Chhattisgarh' is being developed with the participation of all stakeholders. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's resolution to make India a developed nation by 2047. Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary presided over the program.

Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted that, under Prime Minister Shri Modi's leadership, India has become the world's fifth-largest economy over the past decade and aims to become the third-largest in the next five years. He emphasised Chhattisgarh's significant role in achieving this goal, noting the state's abundant natural resources, forest wealth, and human resources. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of adding value to the state's resources to achieve 'Viksit Chhattisgarh.' He called the Chhattisgarh ‘Yuva Rajya’ and emphasised that the government will focus on vocational training through the implementation of the new education policy. Shri Sai stated that his government is implementing reforms in every sector with the cooperation of all stakeholders and is taking steps to ensure transparency in governance, adhering to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai announced that the vision document for Chhattisgarh and a new industrial policy will be dedicated to the public on November 1, 2024, the state's foundation day. He highlighted the significant discussions on organic farming and appreciated the perspectives shared by youth, farmers, women, and intellectuals on the development of Chhattisgarh. Coming from a farming background, the Chief Minister expressed his deep interest in agriculture and emphasised the importance of rural development. The event saw participation from various sections of society, including a large number of women, whose presence was specially acknowledged by the Chief Minister.

During the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai addressed questions about the 'Drone Didi' scheme, sharing that training for this initiative is being arranged at the technical university in Bhilai. This aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's goal of making 3 crore 'Lakhpati Didis', where Drone Didis will play a crucial role. He praised Padma Shri Jageshwar Yadav for his dedicated service to the Korwa-Birhor community, despite being uneducated and living a simple life.

Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary stated that suggestions received during the program would be compiled by the Rajya NITI Aayog. He highlighted the immense potential of tourism and the service sector in the state and emphasised the need to promote organic farming to counter the rising cancer rates due to chemical fertilisers. He also stressed the importance of increasing youth participation in agriculture and considering land consolidation for progressive farming. Shri Choudhary emphasised the need to focus on land labelling, fencing, and water availability for the irrigation of horticultural crops. He suggested promoting agro-tourism in the state and enhancing skill development initiatives to achieve ‘Viksit Chhattisgarh’.

The event, attended by approximately 200 participants, included notable figures such as Padma Shri recipients Shri Ajay Mandavi and Shri Jageshwar Yadav, along with farmers and youth representatives. Many participants offered suggestions for Chhattisgarh's development. The Chief Secretary and Vice Chairman of the Rajya NITI Aayog, Shri Amitabh Jain, and Planning , Economics & Statistics Department Secretary Shri Ankit Anand also addressed the program. The Chief Minister's advisor, Shri Dhirendra Tiwari, Rajya NITI Aayog member Shri K. Subramaniam, Secretary Shri Anup Srivastava, and the Chief Minister's Secretary, Shri Rahul Bhagat, were present.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that the state government will provide every possible support for the establishment of industries in the state. The government aims to establish new industries, ensure value addition within Chhattisgarh, and create employment opportunities for the local youth. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai made these remarks while discussing the recommendations of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) regarding the new Industrial Policy 2024-29. This discussion was held at Chief Minister's residence office today. On the occasion, Secretary to Chief Minister Shri P. Dayanand, CII Chhattisgarh State Council Chairman Shri Ashish Saraf, Vice Chairman Shri Sanjay Jain, and members including Shri Narendra Goyal, Shri Anand Singhania, Shri Ramesh Agarwal, and Shri Pankaj Sarda were also present.

During the meeting, CII members appreciated the Single Window System, and lauded the efforts of Chief Minister to promote industries for generating employment.

In his address, Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted the state's abundant natural resources and valuable minerals. He emphasized on the wide scope of value addition for both minerals and minor forest produce in Chhattisgarh. He said that although hundreds of MOUs were signed over the past five years, but there was no sign of implementation of any. The state government intends to establish new industries to provide employment for the local youth.

Chief Minister Shri Sai acknowledged the significant suggestions provided by the CII regarding the new industrial policy, which will be forwarded to the state's industry minister and the policy formulation committee. He assured that all the suggestions would be studied, and the best ones will be incorporated into the new industrial policy. He referred to the vision of our esteemed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to make India a developed nation by 2047 and to make India the world's third-largest economy within the next five years. In alignment with these goals, we are striving towards the vision of 'Developed Chhattisgarh'. He announced that the new industrial policy and the vision document for a developed Chhattisgarh would be released on State Foundation Day, November 1.

CII members, during their discussion with the Chief Minister, appreciated the Single Window System in Chhattisgarh. They requested Chief Minister to establish a timeframe for the Single Window System. They acknowledged the significant potential for value addition in minor forest produce, dairy industry, and downstream industries in the steel sector. Chhattisgarh, being a power-surplus state, could also establish data centers that require large amounts of electricity. They also requested the inclusion of the real estate industry in the new industrial policy. On this occasion, CII members gave their recommendations and suggestions for the new industrial policies.

Deadline for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is July 31, 2024

Loanee and non-loanee farmers can benefit from the PMFBY

Raipur : Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is being implemented in Chhattisgarh to provide relief to farmers from crop losses due to natural calamities. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has directed agricultural department officials to ensure the registration of all farmers to benefit from this insurance scheme, enabling them to receive compensation in case of crop damage due to natural disasters.

According to the notification issued by the Chhattisgarh Government's agriculture department for the Kharif season 2024, farmers must register to avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The deadline for registration is set for July 31, 2024. Farmers can insure their main crop of paddy (irrigated and non-irrigated) as well as other crops such as maize, urad, and kutki.

The scheme provides relief to farmers for losses caused by adverse weather conditions, drought, floods, inundation, hailstorms, and other natural calamities. Both loanee and non-loanee farmers who are landowners or sharecroppers can benefit from this scheme. Farmers wishing to insure notified crops in notified villages can do so before the stipulated date by registering with their Aadhaar card, loan book, B-1 patwari khasra, bank passbook copy, and sowing certificate. Insurance can be obtained through banks or Choice Centres.

According to the government notification, different insurance companies have been authorised for various districts:

- Bajaj General Insurance Company Limited for Bemetara, Bastar, Koriya, Bijapur, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Kabirdham, Janjgir-Champa, Gariaband, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Sakti, and Kanker districts.

- Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited for Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Korba, Jashpur, Narayanpur, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Mahasamund, Raigarh, Surajpur, and Kondagaon districts.

- HDFC General Insurance Company Limited for Durg, Bilaspur, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Sukma, Mungeli, Surguja, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Balod, Raipur, Dantewada, Balrampur, and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi districts.

Farmers are urged to insure their notified Kharif crops to maximise the benefits of the scheme. For more detailed information, farmers can contact their local Rural Agricultural Extension Officer or the nearest bank branch.

Raipur : Chhattisgarh will receive five national awards for outstanding work in the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana—National Urban Livelihoods Mission. The Government of India has selected the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) and four urban bodies—Bilaspur, Raigarh, Champa, and Bhatapara—for the prestigious 'SPARK-2023-24' awards. These awards recognise excellent efforts in empowering urban poor families and enhancing their livelihood opportunities in the state. The award ceremony will be held on July 18 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. It will be organised by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, and the Minister of State, Shri Tokhan Sahu, will present the awards.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Urban Administration and Development Shri Arun Sao congratulated the SUDA team and the four urban bodies for this achievement, which brings pride to the state. He expressed gratitude to the central government for this honour. Under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission, beneficiaries are being supported through social mobility, institutional development, self-employment, skill training, assistance to urban street vendors, and shelter schemes for the urban homeless. Dr. Basvaraju S., Secretary of the Urban Administration Department, also congratulated SUDA and the selected urban bodies. He stated that Chhattisgarh has been consistently performing well in this mission, which is committed to the economic and social empowerment of women and youth.

Shri Shashank Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of SUDA, shared that these awards are being given for excellent work in empowering urban poor families and increasing their livelihood opportunities. Through the effective implementation of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana—National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), urban bodies have made significant improvements in the lives of the urban population. Beneficiaries in the state are continuously supported under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission and the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme.

Chhattisgarh will receive awards for outstanding urban development initiatives

Chhattisgarh is being recognised with national awards for its exceptional work under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana—National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). The state's efforts in 2023–24 have yielded impressive results, including the formation of 2,653 women's self-help groups, with 1,532 groups receiving revolving funds totaling Rs. 1.532 crore. Additionally, 123 area-level organisations and four city-level federations have been established to promote women's empowerment. The state has distributed Rs. 23.5 lakh in grants to 47 area-level organisations and provided individual loans worth Rs. 31.17 crore to 3,028 beneficiaries for various businesses. Group loans totaling Rs. 7.73 crore have been provided to 1,352 members of 340 groups, and bank-linked loans amounting to Rs. 76.74 crore have been provided to 2,766 self-help groups for income-generating activities.

The state is also operating 47 shelter homes in 39 urban bodies, with four more under construction, to accommodate urban homeless individuals. As part of the street vendors' assistance scheme, surveys have been conducted in all urban bodies, and vendor ID cards and certificates have been distributed. Twenty-five vending zones have been demarcated, and nine vending markets have been constructed and operationalised.

Recognising the crucial role of street vendors in supplying essential services and goods, the state is implementing the Prime Minister Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. A total financial assistance of Rs. 165.25 crore has been provided to needy individuals through banks under the PM SVANidhi scheme.

Chief Minister said that banks play an important role in making government schemes easily accessible to common people. Bank branches should be further expanded to the remote areas of Chhattisgarh state, especially villages, so that more and more people in remote areas can become a part of the banking system.

During the discussion, Chief Minister Shri Sai emphasized on increasing financial inclusion in the state and connecting the people of rural areas with banking literacy. Shri Sharma informed Chief Minister about the steps being taken by the State Bank of India in this direction and the future action plan. Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the "Sankalp Jashpur" program today in Duldula area of Jashpur district. This program has been initiated with the objective of creating societal awareness and behavioral change across the district and to educate women on preventing child marriage, vaccination, sickle cell disease, and snakebite prevention.

Supported by district administration, UNICEF, Women and Child Development Department, Health Department, Education Department, and NRLM, volunteers are conducting awareness campaigns in over 160 panchayats for the public representatives and common people. The campaign includes street plays based on the issues of sickle cell, anemia, snakebite safety, mother-child vaccination, school enrollment drives, plantation drive, as well as prevention and management of health and waterborne diseases, aiming to impart crucial information for public welfare.

Chief Minister Shri Sai also launched videos and cut-outs as part of the Sankalp program. The program was attended by UNICEF district coordinator Shri Tejaram Sarathi and his team, district administration officials, and a number of dignitaries.

Massive sapling distribution campaign to commence in Jashpur, under "Ek Ped Ma ke Naam campaign" initiative

More than 200,000 saplings will be distributed across the district

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the mega plantation drive under the "Ek Ped Ma ke Naam" initiative in Jashpur district. He distributed guava saplings and letters to 10 beneficiaries of Mahatari Vandana scheme during a program held in Duldula.

Chief Minister Shri Sai emphasized that this initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's visionary campaign, aims to express gratitude towards Mother Earth and provide a conducive environment for future generations. He stated in the letter, "I am gifting a sapling to all our mothers and sisters. This sapling not only signifies our responsibility towards nature but also reflects our unbreakable bond with it. Trees provide us with oxygen, which is essential for our existence. Plantation enhances the environment and ensures supply of oxygen for human life."

During the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai handed over a guava sapling to beneficiary Anita Lakda and asked her where she has planned to plant it. Anita said that she would plant the sapling in her courtyard. Shri Sai distributed saplings to the beneficiaries and urged them to care for these plants like their own children, so that future generations may benefit from this tree planting initiative.

On the occasion, Member of Parliament Shri Radheshyam Rathia, MLA Jashpur Mrs. Raymuni Bhagat, MLA Pathalgaon Mrs. Gomti Sai, and other dignitaries were present.

It is noteworthy that under the "Ek Ped Ma ke Naam‘‘ campaign, over 200,000 saplings will be distributed to Mahatari Vandana beneficiaries in Jashpur district. The district administration has made necessary preparations at panchayat level for this extensive distribution.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister reviewed the utility and technical features of the vehicles.

Chief Minister remarked that road safety is a collective responsibility. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives in road accidents, and many suffer permanent disabilities. The solution to this issue lies in the cooperation of all societal segments. Adherence to these rules ensures smooth commute, by preventing chaos and ensuring a pleasant and safe journey to the destination.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the new interceptor vehicles would monitor rule violators. The objective is not to collect fines but to raise awareness and alert people about the importance of following traffic rules. It is noteworthy that the well-equipped interceptor vehicles in Chhattisgarh will play a vital role in effectively controlling the road accidents. These vehicles are necessary for addressing overspeeding, drunk driving, excessive headlight glare, loud vehicle sound systems, and violations related to dark window tints. The newly-inaugurated 15 new interceptor vehicles are equipped with loudspeakers and 360-degree surveillance cameras, enabling better monitoring of law and order and smooth traffic management in road accident cases.

The procurement of these vehicles was made from the Road Safety Fund following administrative approval based on the recommendations of the State-Level Road Safety Fund Management Committee.

Currently, the new interceptor vehicles are being deployed in the districts of Raipur, Balodabazar, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Durg, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir, Raigarh, Surguja, Jagdalpur, and Kanker. Employees have been trained for the operation of these vehicles in these 15 districts.

Raipur : The Chhattisgarh Government, led by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is making tireless efforts for women empowerment. Recently, the Shri Sai government has taken an initiative to benefit the Mitanins of the state. Chief Minister Shri Sai has transferred incentive amounts through the online mode into the Mitanins' bank accounts on July 12. At the "Nava Saugat" program organised at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, Chief Minister Shri Sai transferred a total of Rs. 90.08 crore as an incentive into the accounts of about 73,831 Mitanins, trainers, and coordinators across the state.

He emphasised that the invaluable contribution of over 70,000 Mitanins working across the state has helped achieve unprecedented improvements in maternal and infant mortality rates. Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai launched the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' mega tree plantation campaign at the Biodiversity Park in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur. He commenced the campaign by planting a peepal sapling after performing traditional rituals and unveiling the campaign banner. The Forest Department aims to plant 4 crore trees across the state under this initiative. Today, the Forest Department has planted 4 lakh trees in all 33 districts of the state. At the Biodiversity Park, Chief Minister Shri Sai, along with cabinet ministers, schoolchildren, CRPF personnel, and officials from the police and forest departments, planted 20,000 trees. The Chief Minister toured the plantation area in an open Jeep to encourage participants. Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap presided over the event.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, addressing the event, stated, “Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called upon all 140 crore Indians to plant a tree in honour of their mothers. This call has transformed into a movement, and Chhattisgarh is taking it up as a campaign, with the Forest Department aiming to plant 4 crore saplings. Today, 6 lakh saplings are being planted across the state's 33 districts.

Various species are being planted, including the peepal tree, which provides oxygen 24 hours a day, neem trees, and medicinal plants like harra, baheda, and amla”. The Chief Minister emphasised the necessity of tree planting, highlighting the record-breaking heat experienced across the country this year, with temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius. He appreciated the schoolchildren, CRPF personnel, and forest and police department staff for participating in the plantation drive. He also appealed to all schools to have children plant a tree in honour of their mothers within school premises.

Chief Minister Shri Sai shared that he will appeal in August to the Mahtari Vandan Yojana’s beneficiaries to plant tree saplings in honour of their mothers. He mentioned that if 70 lakh women plant trees, the target will be easily achieved.

Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, presiding over the program, stated that in response to Prime Minister Shri Modi's call, people should plant a tree in honour of their mothers, care for it, and protect it. He expressed pride that the program is being organised in all forest ranges of the state.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai convened a meeting with the delegation of the 16th Central Finance Commission, led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, on July 11. During the meeting, Shri Sai requested special grants for Chhattisgarh, emphasising the state's unique circumstances and needs. He highlighted that Chhattisgarh, a newly formed state with a large tribal population, faces challenging geographical conditions. It is also affected by the Naxal activities. He stressed that additional financial resources are necessary to bring Chhattisgarh on par with developed states.

Shri Sai informed Commission about the rapid development work being carried out in Naxal-affected areas and the effective measures being taken to curb Naxal activities. He pointed out that the challenging geographical conditions in these areas lead to additional expenditure on infrastructure development. He also shared the details of ongoing efforts under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana to provide basic facilities such as education, health, roads, electricity, and water in these regions.

The Chief Minister emphasised that increased financial assistance from the Central Finance Commission would significantly boost public welfare projects in backward areas. He stated, "As India is rapidly becoming an economic superpower, Chhattisgarh is working hard to contribute to this growth. We will realise the vision of a developed Chhattisgarh alongside a developed India." He expressed hope that the Finance Commission would provide additional financial support to help realise the state's vision.

Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted the increased costs and extended time frames for infrastructure projects such as railways, roads, telecommunications, energy, and irrigation due to challenging geographical conditions. He also mentioned the additional expenses incurred to address environmental damage and health impacts caused by mining activities. Additionally, he pointed out that, due to the GST as a consumption-based destination tax system, the actual benefits of mining activities are accruing to states where mineral value addition and consumption occur rather than to Chhattisgarh.

Highlighting the state's economic progress, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that Chhattisgarh started with a small economy of just Rs. 29,539 crore in 2000 but has now achieved a GSDP target of Rs. 5 lakh 9 thousand crore in 2023–24. He announced the government’s aim to double its GSDP size in the next five years and requested an increase in the central government's share of centrally sponsored schemes jointly funded by the central and state governments.

Dr. Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the Central Finance Commission, praised Chhattisgarh's rapid economic progress during his visit to the state. He commended the beautiful and well-planned development of Nava Raipur and emphasised the need to focus on manufacturing units to achieve the goal of a developed India and Chhattisgarh. Dr. Panagariya highlighted the state's fiscal stability, economic growth, and improvement in social indicators, describing Chhattisgarh as a newly emerging and fast-growing state. He underscored human resources as the state's biggest asset, stressing the need for skill development in the manufacturing and service sectors.

Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary presented the state's financial status, highlighting the development of Nava Raipur as a green smart city and requesting additional central resources for infrastructure development. He assured that Chhattisgarh would continue to maintain fiscal discipline and is working to fix leakages in the tax system using modern technology. The Finance Minister also offered important suggestions regarding the criteria for tax sharing between the centre and states. Deputy Chief Ministers and other ministers presented information about their departmental schemes and requested more resources.

Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain delivered the welcome address. DGP Shri Ashok Juneja outlined the resource needs of the police force, while Shri Saurabh Kumar, CEO of NRDA, provided details on the resource requirements for Nava Raipur projects.

Chhattisgarh set to regain 'Power Surplus State' status: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur : Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, during his visit to Raipur today, reviewed the progress of energy and housing development in Chhattisgarh. He stated that Chhattisgarh would experience accelerated development through improved coordination between the state and central governments. The Government of India pledged full cooperation to meet all electricity and housing needs in Chhattisgarh. Shri Lal mentioned the ongoing reform initiatives across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, aligned closely with public aspirations.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, and Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain were also present in the review meeting.

Shri Manohar Lal pointed out, "Many subsidy schemes are being implemented by the Central Government to ensure affordable and ample electricity supply to the people. There are also numerous schemes aimed at promoting solar energy." He urged the state government to fully utilize the funds and grants provided by the Government of India, assuring that quicker implementation would expedite the release of funds. He guaranteed seamless cooperation from the Central Government in executing development schemes in the state.

Union Minister suggested, "The 100 buses allotted to Raipur under the Clean City initiative could also be used to connect Naya Raipur and Raipur." He reviewed initiatives by the Electricity Department to minimize line-loss, install smart meters, electrify areas dominated by special backward tribes, and ensure coal availability for power generation. Besides, he reviewed projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM SVANidhi, Swachh Bharat Mission, PM e-Bus Seva, Smart City Mission, and National Urban Development Mission. He assured adequate funding for these schemes.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal, acknowledging his prompt review of development initiatives within a month of assuming office. He stated that the Union Minister's support would accelerate the pace of development in Chhattisgarh. He mentioned that efforts are underway to boost power generation in the state, with Chhattisgarh set to regain its 'Power Surplus State' status. Chief Minister highlighted improvements in power availability for farmers and small-scale workers over the past six months. Farmers are now receiving discounts on electricity bills, benefiting up to 6000 units annually for irrigation pumps up to three HP, and up to 7500 units for pumps ranging from three to five HP.

Chief Minister Shri Sai urged the Union Minister to prioritize approval for the pending 19,906 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), along with nearly 50,000 houses that require revised central funding, in line with applications received during the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra'. He expressed optimism that today's meeting would spark progress in energy sector and urban development in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Urban Administration and Development Shri Arun Sao affirmed in the meeting that the state is diligently following Government of India guidelines for urban development. Significant strides are being made in cleanliness, housing, livelihood, and drinking water, with regular reviews of progress. He expressed confidence that with continued cooperation from the Government of India, these initiatives would gather further momentum.
