Raipur : In order to honor and support the Tribal communities of Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai honored Baiga, Gunia and Sirha Tribal communities by giving them ‘shawl’ and coconut in a program organized at the Circuit House on Monday.

Highlighting these communities as the protectors of tribal tradition, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that traditional Tribal communities like Baiga, Gunia and Sirha will now be given honorarium of Rs 5,000 each year. This initiative is an important step towards promoting the cultural traditions of tribal society along with their economic empowerment.

Government is committed to the preservation and development of the culture and traditions of tribal society. Such decisions will prove helpful in making the tribal areas of Chhattisgarh self-reliant and increasing their pride, said Shri Sai.

Chief Minister emphasized the importance of cherishing the traditions of the tribal community and making them partners in the development of the society. On this occasion, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MLA Jagdalpur Shri Kiran Deo, former MLA Mahesh Gagda and local public representatives were present.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai presided over the Bastar Region Tribal Development Authority meeting held in Chitrakote on November 18. The discussions included plans for establishing a tourism corridor to significantly boost tourism in the Bastar region by developing identified tourist destinations and construction of a super-speciality hospital by NMDC. During the event, Shri Sai launched the Saur Samadhan and Mano Bastar apps and inaugurated a solar-powered power bank.

Chief Minister Shri Sai shared that Dhudmaras village, located in Kanger Valley National Park, had been selected by the UN Tourism under its Rural Development Programme as part of the Best Tourism Village initiative. This recognition places Dhudmaaras among 20 villages globally chosen from 60 countries, bringing national and international acclaim to Chhattisgarh.

In his address, Shri Sai reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the development of the Bastar and Surguja regions, highlighting the Tribal Development Authorities’ pivotal role in progress. He assured that no shortage of funds or resources would hinder tribal development, with substantial contributions available through Corporate Social Responsibility. Emphasising the "double-engine" governance of the Central and State Governments, he noted their shared sensitivity toward tribal welfare.

The Chief Minister also shared the Union Government's ambitious goal, led by Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, to eliminate Naxal terrorism by March 2026. Shri Sai praised the state's progress, noting that Naxal activities are now confined to smaller areas, with efforts focused on restoring peace and strengthening democratic foundations. He stressed that development and trust in governance are essential for achieving lasting peace in Bastar.

He highlighted the transformative impact of the Niyad Nella Naar Yojana, which is bringing essential infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals, and mobile towers to remote villages. Under this scheme, 34 new security camps have been established to provide better facilities for rural communities. The meeting included suggestions from ministers, MPs, and legislators, emphasizing unity in driving development efforts.

Chief Minister directs officials to expedite the repair of the Keshkal Ghat road

The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the repair of the Keshkal Ghat road and complete projects funded by tribal authorities within stipulated timelines. He instructed the Bastar Collector to finalise pending works in Devgudi and Matagudi within six weeks. Additionally, NMDC was tasked with resolving issues in Nerli and Thurli villages, such as red water turbidity, through collaborative efforts with district collectors.

Ministers and Public Representatives offer suggestions

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao highlighted the prioritisation of Bastar and Surguja’s development through initiatives like Niyad Nella Naar and the Bastar Olympics. Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap suggested focusing on fisheries, dairy entrepreneurship, collective farming in FRA clusters, and establishing sports academies. Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary recommended introducing hotel management institutes, nursing colleges, organic farming projects, and permanent POTA cabins. Bastar Development Authority Vice-Chairperson Smt. Lata Usendi emphasised educational and entrepreneurial development while advocating for agricultural service centres and global tourism promotion. MLA Shri Kiran Deo Singh proposed a Central Instrumental Laboratory for research scholars.

Recruitment Campaign in Aspirational Districts

Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain shared updates on police successes in Bastar and infrastructure surveys in 95 villages. He directed district administrations to focus on the recruitment campaign in aspirational districts. Kanker Collector confirmed compensation for all farmers affected by the Rawghat Project, while BSP representatives noted employment opportunities for 153 affected youth. The Education Secretary assured that no schools have been closed in Bastar, with plans to address infrastructure gaps for schools lacking permanent structures.

Financial constraints will no longer hinder her dreams

Raipur : Early this morning, Nisha Yadav, a resident of Bilaspur, received a call that changed her life. On the other end was a calm, reassuring voice saying, “You need to climb Mount Kilimanjaro; don’t worry about the expenses.” Startled, Nisha asked, “Who is this?” The response came, “This is Vishnu Deo Sai speaking.”

Still in disbelief, Nisha questioned, “Are you really the Chief Minister?” Her astonishment grew when the Chief Minister elaborated, assuring her, “Focus on your goal. It is our responsibility to fulfill the dreams of every daughter of Chhattisgarh. The state government stands with you.”

Moved by the Chief Minister’s warm words of encouragement, Nisha’s joy knew no bounds. She was amazed that without any formal request or appeal, the Chief Minister had taken the initiative to support her dream.

In a detailed conversation with the Chief Minister, Nisha shared her mountaineering journey, including the challenges she faced during her expedition to Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. She explained how these ventures are thrilling and how hoisting the tricolor atop mountain peaks fills her with immense pride. Nisha revealed that her next target is Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, and her ultimate dream is to scale Mount Everest and unfurl the national flag there.

With a voice filled with emotion, Nisha confided, “I haven’t been able to sleep for days. My father is an auto driver, and fulfilling this dream seemed impossible for him. I was deeply worried about how to make it happen. But today, you have erased all my worries. Thank you so much, Chief Minister Sir.”

Hearing Nisha’s confident and determined words, Chief Minister Sai remarked, “Chhattisgarh is proud of its daughters. We aspire to see our daughters hoist the tricolor on Mount Everest as well. Financial challenges cannot deter one’s spirit.” Extending his best wishes, he added, “Your confidence and passion will undoubtedly help you achieve your goal.”

Chief Minister attended the Prakash Parv – Birth Anniversary organized on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday attended the birth anniversary celebration of Guru Nanak Jayanti organized in Khalsa School Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Sai bowed before the devotional hymns being sung in Kirtan Darbar and wished happiness, prosperity and well-being of all the people of Chhattisgarh.

Congratulating everyone on the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai said, “On this holy day I am feeling very happy to be among my brothers and sisters of the Sikh community. The life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is not only inspiring for the Sikh community but his life is inspirational for all Indians. Social unity has been emphasized in the words of Guru Nanak Ji. He emphasized on the creation of an egalitarian society.” The Sikh community has a huge contribution in the independence of the country. The history of the Sikh community is very glorious and rich. Dedication to religion and the spirit of service are the integral identity of the Sikh community, he added.

Speaking over contribution of Sikh Gurus, Chief Minister Shri Sai said, “When we look at the life of Guru Govind Singh Ji, we come to know that when his sons Sahibzaade Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji were under pressure to change their religion, they accepted martyrdom but did not change their religion.” This reflects the history of the Sikh community.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had announced to celebrate the martyrdom day of Sahibzaades on December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas and every year we celebrate this day with pride.

On this occasion, a large number of people from the Sikh community including MLAs Shri Purandar Mishra, Shri Sanjay Srivastava, Shri Bhupendra Savnani, Shri Manmohan Chawla and officials of the Gurudwara Committee were present.

Raipur : Appreciating glorious history of Tribal community on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas at Science College Ground, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday said that Former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have worked to increase the honor, respect and pride of the Tribal community. Shri Atal ji created a separate ministry for the welfare of the Tribal community and gave a new direction to the development of this community. Prime Minister Shri Modi has started many schemes for the upliftment of the tribal community. A budget provision of Rs 24,000 crore has been made under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana and Rs 80,000 crore for the Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, due to which the development of infrastructure in tribal areas and the betterment of the tribes is being done rapidly.

As a thoughtful gesture, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai announced the Chief Minister's Samman Nidhi for the Baiga, Gunia, Sirha people belonging to the tribal community of Chhattisgarh state on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Under this, they will be given financial assistance of Rs 5,000 annually. The Chief Minister announced the launch of Akhra Nirman Vikas Yojana for religious and auspicious functions in Tribal villages and the installation of statues of the martyrs of the Tribal community at identified sites.

Chief Minister Shri Sai honored the dignitaries of the tribal community, the martyrs of the tribal rebellion in the state and the family members of freedom fighters in the ceremony. He awarded the winners of the Tribal painting competition. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai released the 'Atlas' related to Forest Rights Act, calendar 'Shauryanjali' and a book published on the subject of 'Halba Janjati Ki Vachik Paramparayein'. These have been published by Chhattisgarh Tribal Development Department

On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Arun Singh, who was presiding over the program, appreciated the work being done for the upliftment and welfare of all sections in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. He said that the popularity and humility of Chief Minister Shri Sai is appreciated all over the country. He said that by coming to the Tribal Pride Day and Inter-State Dance Festival organized in Raipur, he has witnessed 'Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat'. He congratulated Chief Minister Shri Sai for this special event of Rashtriya Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas- National Tribal Pride Day. While paying obeisance to the great men of the Tribal community, Shri Arun Singh said, “Only those countries and societies remain truly awake that honor their culture and remember their great leaders.”

Tribal Development Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has shown concern for the upliftment of the tribal community. He has implemented many schemes for the development of this community. He said that the Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lead to the overall development of 6500 villages and improvement of standard of living of the people of the tribal community is improving through the PM Janman Yojana.

It is noteworthy that on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several important projects worth Rs 6600 crores for the development and expansion of basic facilities in the remote rural areas of the country. The Prime Minister said that we are spending five times the budget for the welfare of the tribal areas and tribal community of the country. Ten years ago, its budget was only Rs 25,000 crores, but it has now increased to Rs 1,25,000 crores.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural function marking the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Jamui, Bihar. The event was broadcast live across the country. In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized efforts to correct historical injustices, highlighting that tribal communities had been denied their rightful place in history despite their significant contributions. He praised the tribal society for its role in India's freedom struggle, with countless heroes sacrificing their lives for their culture, identity, and independence.

Shri Modi acknowledged the contributions of President Smt. Draupadi Murmu in advancing the welfare of tribal communities, particularly through the PM Janman Yojana, which has allocated Rs 24,000 crore for the development of tribal settlements and villages. Tribal-dominated districts have been identified as aspirational districts, ensuring their all-round development.

Raipur : In a significant step towards wildlife conservation, the Chhattisgarh Forest Department, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is organising a Vulture Conservation Symposium at Aranya Bhawan in Nava Raipur on November 15, 2024. This symposium will bring together vulture conservation experts from various states to exchange insights and discuss strategies for vulture conservation, focusing on central India and Chhattisgarh. The conference will also see the participation of renowned organisations, including the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), Bird Count India, and WWF.

Notably, six vulture species are found across Chhattisgarh’s Indravati Tiger Reserve, Achanakmar Tiger Reserve, Guru Ghasidas Tiger Reserve, and other wildlife sanctuaries. These include the Long-billed Vulture, White-rumped Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Himalayan Vulture, Eurasian Vulture, and Cinereous Vulture. Director of Jungle Safari, Shri Dhammsheel Ganvir, emphasised the critical role of vultures in biodiversity, highlighting their function as natural scavengers that prevent the spread of infections.

The decline in the vulture population can disrupt ecological balance. This symposium aims to raise awareness about the importance of vulture conservation not only in Chhattisgarh but nationwide and to promote collective efforts to protect these essential species.

Raipur : On the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the two-day Tribal Pride Day and Interstate Tribal Folk Dance Festival at Raipur's Science College grounds through traditional worship at Devgudi and lighting the ceremonial lamp. This state-level event will feature seminars on various subjects, a tribal art exhibition, and captivating cultural performances by 28 tribal dance troupes from 21 states across the country over the next two days.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day. Honouring Lord Birsa Munda, Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, Shaheed Gend Singh, and Gundadhur, he acknowledged the contribution of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in declaring Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Tribal Pride Day nationwide. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Modi on behalf of the three crore people of Chhattisgarh for this recognition.

Chief Minister Sai mentioned that the grand celebration of Tribal Pride Day began on November 13 in Jashpur. He emphasized the significant contributions of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna, Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee towards the welfare of tribal communities, noting that it was Shri Vajpayee who established a dedicated ministry for the welfare of the 10 crore tribal people in the country.

Highlighting further development efforts, the Chief Minister stated that under the PM Janman Yojana, basic infrastructure is being developed in villages of the special backward tribal communities. He announced that Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Tribal Pride Day from Jamui in Bihar on November 15. Additionally, under the Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Upliftment Campaign launched by the central government, a provision of Rs 80,000 crore has been made for comprehensive development in tribal villages. In Chhattisgarh, 6,691 tribal villages will benefit from improved basic amenities and welfare programs for tribal communities.

The event began with an impressive march-past by tribal dance troupes from 21 states, as the crowd applauded, encouraging the performers. Minister of Tribal Welfare, Shri Ramvichar Netam, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the significance of this celebration as an opportunity to honor the art, culture, traditions, and sacrifice of great personalities who have laid down their lives for the nation. He expressed that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, significant efforts are being made for the welfare of all sections of society.

Raipur : Asserting the overall development of Tribal society in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that the Union and state government are committed for the comprehensive development of the Tribal society in the state.

Shri Sai highlighted the State and Centre run public welfare schemes for the Tribal development in a program of Janjati Gaurav Diwas and Kanwar Samaj Sammelan organized at village Bhatagaon of Gunderdehi development block of Balod district on Thursday.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister mentioned the valor of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda and said that he fought against the British rule to protect his identity, culture and motherland and was martyred at the young age of 25 years. Chief Minister Shri Sai announced to affiliate Higher Secondary School under government recognition and fund of Rs 25 lakh for the school run by Kanwar Samaj in village Bhatgaon B.

While he approved Rs 50 lakh for construction of community building of Adivasi Pankra Kanwar Samaj in village Rengakathera of Gunderdehi development block and Rs 10 lakh for construction of Ram Satta Sthal of Ram Mandir in ward number 10 of Gunderdehi. The program was presided over by State President of Kanwar Samaj Shri Harbansh Miri.

While paying obeisance to Lord Birsa Munda and Saint Gahira Guru, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, said that along with the freedom struggle, the great personalities of the tribal society have made an important contribution in the reconstruction of the nation and society.

Artists from Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, and More Showcase their Tribal Dances

Raipur : Artists from northeastern states and across the country are set to showcase their rich cultural heritage at the grand two-day ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ event, taking place at Science College Ground in Raipur. Artists from five northeastern states—Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim—have already arrived in Raipur to perform in the programme scheduled for November 14-15. They were given a warm, traditional welcome with garlands and tilak at Raipur Railway Station. These northeastern artists will celebrate the diverse colors of their culture by presenting folk dances such as Wangla-Rungla, Ret-Kinong, Geh Padam A Na-Nyi E, and Solakia.

A 20-member team from Meghalaya has arrived in Raipur to perform at the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas celebration. This group will present the Wangla-Rungla folk dance, performed by the Garo tribe after the harvest season. The team, led by Shri Mansen Momin, has traveled from North Curve Hills, approximately 200 km from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. Shri Momin shared that Wangla is a major festival for the Garo tribe, which has an agriculture-based economy. The tribe performs this dance to honor Misi Saljong, the God of fertility, as a way of expressing gratitude after the harvest. They give thanks to the deity for providing the crops, worship him through dance and song, and offer the first yield as ‘bhog’ (a sacred offering). No agricultural product is used before expressing their gratitude to Misi Saljong.

Both men and women participate in the Wangla-Rungla folk dance. Male dancers play the traditional drum, known as the ‘dama’. The leader of the dancers, called the ‘Grikgipa’ or ‘Toregipa’, directs the performance. Women sway their hands gracefully to the rhythm, while the men dance energetically to the beat of their drums.

Solakia dance is performed to celebrate victory over enemies, accompanied by vocal music that resembles chanting

A folk dance team from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, has arrived in Raipur to perform the Solakia dance. The 20-member team includes 11 men and nine women, representing the Mara tribe of Mizoram. Solakia, which means "severed head of the enemy," was historically performed to celebrate victory over adversaries—especially when the victor brought home the enemy’s head as a trophy. Today, however, this dance is performed by men and women of Mizo communities on all major occasions.

Shri Jothmazam, the team leader from Mizoram, shared that the Solakia dance originated from the Lakher community. The vocal music that accompanies this dance is closer to chanting than traditional singing. Rhythmic music is provided by a pair of gongs, one larger than the other, known as the ‘darkhuang’, and the sound is enhanced by several pairs of cymbals.

Shri Jothmazam explained that the Mara tribe, which performs this dance, is a Kuki tribe residing in the Lushai Hills of Mizoram and the Chin Hills of Myanmar. They are also known by various names, including Lakher, Shendu, Tlosai, and Khongjai.

Raipur : A grand 'Maati Ke Veer' footmarch was organized today in Jashpur to commemorate 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas', in the presence of Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. In his inaugural address, Union Minister Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the crucial role played by the youth in India's struggle for independence and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Mandaviya stated that the life of Lord Birsa Munda, who fought and sacrificed his life for the country's freedom at the age of 25, serves as an inspiration for all. He reminded the gathering that nearly six lakh youth sacrificied their lives in the fight for India's independence. Dr. Mandaviya urged the youth to take a pledge to fulfill the dream of a developed India and to come forward in promoting social welfare. On the occasion, he also announced the construction of a fully equipped sports stadium in Jashpur city, on the request of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated in his address that it is a matter of great pride for Chhattisgarh and Jashpur to host this event in celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. He conveyed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for declaring November 15 as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas' in honor of Lord Birsa Munda, providing another significant opportunity for the tribal community to take pride in their heritage.

Shri Vishnu Deo Sai further stated that whenever tribal culture has faced threats, the tribal society has always stood strong in defense of it. He described tribal culture as one rooted in a deep love for nature, a culture of harmony, peace, and goodwill. He praised tribal culture for its deep connection to nature, its spirit of harmony, peace, and goodwill. He added saying that this culture, which cherishes the arts, is the foundation of our tribal Sanatan culture. The effort to preserve tribal culture is, in essence, an effort to preserve Sanatan culture. The glorification of tribal culture is, therefore, the glorification of Sanatan culture.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated, "Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan and PM-JANMAN scheme are being implemented for the welfare of tribal communities. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched Eklavya schools to provide quality education to tribal children and the Van-Dhan Yojana to enhance their income. Besides, free healthcare services for tribal communities have been introduced under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Today, Chhattisgarh is fortunate to have a double-engine government. We have outlined a comprehensive strategy for the development of tribal areas, and our government is dedicated to restoring the ancient glory and dignity of tribal society."

He further stated that Naxalism is now in its final stages in Chhattisgarh, and the roots of democracy are spreading to the remotest areas. Essential infrastructure such as roads, drinking water, electricity, education, healthcare, and communication services are reaching even the most interior villages under the Niyad Nella Naar Yojana. "We are committed to building a developed Chhattisgarh as part of the vision for a developed India. This goal will be achieved with the active participation of all, ensuring maximum involvement of tribal communities," he added.

A video film showcasing the life of Lord Birsa Munda was screened at the inaugural programme of the 'Maati ke Veer Padyatra'. Tribal youth who have achieved excellence in sports and other fields, along with volunteers from the My Bharat initiative, were honored during the event. Shri Shankar Ram Barla, President of the Munda Samaj, also addressed the gathering. A grand exhibition highlighting the life stories of tribal heroes, as well as tribal culture and traditions, was organized at the Purana Nagar Ground, the venue for the Maati ke Veer Padyatra programme.

State-level programme to be held at Science College Ground in Raipur

Raipur : A two-day state-level programme will be held on November 14 and 15 at the Science College Ground in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, to mark the birth anniversary of Indian tribal independence activist Lord Birsa Munda, observed as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas. On this occasion, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will join the event virtually from Jamui in Bihar. During the programme, he will also interact with beneficiaries of the PM-JANMAN Yojana.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will be the chief guest at the programme, which will begin on November 15 at 10:30 am. Preserving Tribal Wisdom: CG Forest Department Promotes Medicinal Plants and Traditional Healers

Raipur : Aligned with Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision for India's traditional medicine systems, the Chhattisgarh Forest Department has taken effective steps to promote the indigenous medical knowledge embedded within its forest-rich tribal communities. Recognizing the holistic value of Ayurveda and other traditional practices, these initiatives aim to preserve ancient wisdom that supports physical, mental, social, and environmental health.

The Forest Department, in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH and other stakeholders, has embarked on certifying Traditional Community Health Practitioners (TCHPs, or traditional healers)—including Baiga, Guniya, Sirha, and Vaidya—while documenting, assessing, and scientifically validating various medicinal plant formulations.

PCCF & HoFF Shri V. Sreenivasa Rao, IFS, said, “Inspired by the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision, the Chhattisgarh Forest Department, under the leadership of the Hon'ble Chief Minister and Hon'ble Forest Minister, is committed to preserving and promoting traditional medicinal knowledge for the well-being of our communities.”

The Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation, with European Commission support, conducted an ethnobotanical survey across 21 districts, interviewing 418 traditional healers and documenting 3,399 medicinal plant formulations. These formulations were scientifically evaluated by a team from the Government Ayurveda College, Raipur, led by Dr. Rakshpal Gupta, Dr. P.K. Joshi, Dr. R.N. Tripathi, and Dr. P.K. Baghel, who recommended 86 formulations for direct preparation and use.

Traditional healers are a critical healthcare resource for rural and tribal populations, providing local plant-based remedies without formal recognition. Certifying these practitioners acknowledges their invaluable contribution to the health needs of tribal and marginalized communities, enhancing respect for their work and fostering greater awareness of traditional practices. In collaboration with the Foundation for Revitalization of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT) and The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU), Bengaluru, the Forest Department has certified 500 traditional healers, recognizing their role in upholding the cultural and healthcare heritage of the state.

One prominent example is Vaidyaraj Hemchand Manjhi from Narayanpur district, who was recently awarded the Padma Shri for his commitment to providing traditional and affordable healthcare to villagers for over five decades. Another experienced healer, 62-year-old Santosh Kumar Patel from Malhari village in Dhamtari district, has been practicing for more than four decades. He highlights the effectiveness of traditional medicine in treating severe ailments, saying, "Traditional medicine systems should not be underestimated; they are highly effective in curing ailments, including cancer.

I thank the CG Forest Department for recognizing the efforts of Vaidyas across the state. Certain herbs, like dahiman and asthikand, are threatened, and I appeal to the department to plant these species in large numbers to protect them for future generations." His formulations have garnered national recognition, with patents filed by Sagar University and Mysore University, and received wide appreciation during the recent Rajyotsava ceremony in Naya Raipur.

According to Dr. Neetu Harmukh, Senior Scientist at the CG State Biodiversity Board, the state’s medicinal plants are documented in the Public Biodiversity Register (PBR), providing an invaluable resource for ongoing conservation efforts.

Further measures by the Forest Department include establishing 50 Vanoushadhalays (Herbal Dispensaries) across the state and preparing a directory of 500 traditional healers through the CG State Medicinal Plant Board. Additionally, the Department of Tribal and Scheduled Castes, in collaboration with the Forest Department, will host a Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, celebrating tribal healers through seminars, workshops, and exhibitions of medicinal plants. This event will create a platform for healers, healthcare providers, and policymakers to exchange knowledge, discuss challenges, and explore pathways for integrating traditional practices into the modern healthcare system.

In its commitment to preserving traditional healthcare practices, the Chhattisgarh Forest Department is fostering a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern health needs, honoring the legacy and essential role of traditional healers in community well-being.

Raipur : Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will undertake a Padayatra (foot march) along with MY Bharat Youth Volunteers as part of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on 13th November 2024 in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh. Announcement to upgrade Katghora Community Health Center to 100 beds hospital

Chief Minister attended Lord Sahastrabahu Jayanti program in Korba’s Katghora block.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday attended the Lord Sahastrabahu Jayanti program organized by Kalar Samaj at Katghora development block headquarters of Korba district as the chief guest. Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Lord Sahastrabahu showed the path of public welfare by establishing a religious state, our government is also moving forward on these welfare paths and working for the welfare, happiness and prosperity of the people of Chhattisgarh.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai announced to upgrade the Community Health Center to a 100-bed hospital to expand health facilities in Katghora. He announced the upgradation of Katghora Rest House along with naming the square situated near Chakchakwa hill in Katghora Ambikapur National Highway in honor of Lord Sahastrabahu.

Describing the Kalar community as progressed and educated, Chief Minister Shri Sai said, “Today the youth of the community are in high positions. Along with the contribution of other communities of the state, Kalar community will also have an important contribution in the development journey in Chhattisgarh in compliance of Vision Developed India 2047- a vision and pledge by PM Shri Narendra Modi.”

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Modi's guarantee is being implemented in the state. As soon as the government came into power, farmer’s paddy was purchased at Rs 3100 per quintal, due balance of pending bonus was paid off along with paddy was purchased at the rate of 21 quintals per acre. Besides Tendu leaf remuneration rate was increased from Rs 4000 to Rs 5500 per standard sack and around 70 lakh women of the state are being given RS 1000 monthly under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. After the release of funds for PM Awas, the construction of houses has also started. People are being benefited from the Ramlala Darshan Yojana. He stated that this year, there has been favorable rainfall, and the paddy procurement will begin on November 14. Improved arrangements have been put in place to ensure that farmers face no difficulties during the process.

Chief Minister Shri Sai also congratulated the community leaders for organizing the Yuvak Yuvati Parichay Sammelan at the venue. He encouraged students to give their invaluable contribution in the development of the society in future.

While chairing the program, Public Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that the Kalchuris have a big contribution in the development of Chhattisgarh. The inscriptions and other archaeological heritage here reveal the important contribution of the Kalchuri kings. He said that former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee created Chhattisgarh state. Now this state is moving towards development under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

Chief Minister Shri Sai dedicated a slew of development projects worth Rs 60.20 crore

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated and performed bhumipoojan for multiple development projects at Dussehra Ground in Balodabazar on November 8. He announced the establishment of a B.Ed. College and a Transport Nagar in the district. Shri Sai dedicated a series of development works worth Rs 60.20 crore to the Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, including the inauguration of 32 projects worth Rs 27.88 crore and the bhumipoojan of 16 projects worth Rs 32.32 crore.

The Chief Minister distributed sanction letters for houses to 2,100 beneficiaries and handed over keys to 51 recipients under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He also honoured 51 youth participants from the "Hum Honge Kamyaab" campaign. Farmers presented the Chief Minister with a basket of paddy to express their gratitude for the procurement at Rs 3100 per quintal and up to 21 quintals per acre.

In his address, Shri Sai praised Balodabazar as a land of saints, leaders, and heroes where diverse communities live harmoniously. He stated that the district has seen steady development since its formation in 2012 under the guidance of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh. Emphasising his government’s commitment to progress and welfare, the Chief Minister highlighted recent efforts, including a new industrial policy and a streamlined single-window system for industrial approvals.

The Chief Minister shared that under the guarantees of Prime Minister Shri Modi, the state government has approved 18 lakh houses through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with 8.42 lakh already sanctioned by the Central Government. He added that under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, eligible women beneficiaries receive Rs 1,000 monthly through direct bank transfers (DBT). The state is set to begin paddy procurement on November 14, with arrangements in place to facilitate a smooth process for farmers.

Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma spoke on the district’s progress since its inception, noting that Chief Minister Shri Sai upholds Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's philosophy of Antyodaya, ensuring government programs benefit every citizen. He highlighted that the "double-engine government" is committed to rapid development in agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure, water, and cultural preservation.

Raipur : Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that Chhattisgarh’s road network would match the quality of the American road network within two years, approving projects worth Rs 20,000 crore for development. These include four-laning four national highways and constructing flyovers and single lanes in Raipur. Highlighting roads as key to economic growth, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized infrastructure’s role in a stronger economy. Gadkari also encouraged eco-friendly innovations like bamboo crash barriers and biofuel, supporting sustainable development and rural farmers. He stressed the importance of cost-effective, high-quality work to help India become a self-reliant, 5 trillion economy.

These major announcements were made on the inaugural program of the 83rd Annual Convention of the Indian Road Congress organized in Science Ground on Friday in Raipur. Shri Gadkari announced the sanction of funds for four-laning of national highways from Dhamtari to Jagdalpur, Raipur to Balodabazar-Sargarh, Katghora to Ambikapur and Bilaspur to Akaltara-Raigarh to Odisha border. He also sanctioned funds for construction of several single lane and two lane roads in Chhattisgarh. Shri Gadkari announced the sanction of funds for construction of flyovers at Sarona, Udyog Bhawan, Telibandha and Dhaneli junction in Raipur. He also approved one-time improvement works of three roads. Shri Gadkari also announced Rs 900 crore from Central Road Fund (CRF) for construction of roads.

Highlight the contribution of engineers as Vishwakarma of the country, Shri Gadkari said ,“All of you have a huge contribution in the building of the nation. Our Prime Minister's mission is to make India a 5 trillion economy and make India self-reliant. For this, we will have to progress in industry and agriculture.” Hence, he emphasized on boosting transport infrastructure and capital investment in this sector propelling of employment.

Mr Gadkari emphasized the engineer to utilized their knowledge and technology in bringing up advance quality projects in compliance of saving public money. Highlighting self-reliant technology of making a bamboo crash barrier in Chhattisgarh, Shri Gadkari said that there this eco-friendly innovation has the capacity to replace steel. And emphaised engineers to use bamboo crash barrier instead of iron in the entire Chhattisgarh, this in return will encourage the farmers to use bamboo.

We have made bio vitamins from straw and it is being used in Meghalaya. Recently in Panipat we have started making 1000 liters of bio vitamin and bio aviation fuel from straw. If this is made from straw or ‘para’ then a very good work will be done in Chhattisgarh,” said Shri Gadkari.

Union Minister emphasized the need for concerted efforts to reduce road accidents, urging improvements in road engineering and prioritizing road safety. He called for technical and practical measures to enhance the quality of roads and reduce accidents.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted Chhattisgarh’s rapid development and its environmental concerns, noting that the transport sector contributes 40% to the country’s pollution. He urged the IRC officials to adopt an integrated approach to road development while maintaining environmental balance. The Chief Minister also expressed pride in Chhattisgarh hosting the event, marking the state's silver jubilee year since its formation, and thanked Gadkari for approving major road projects worth Rs 11,000 crore for the state.

Looking ahead, the Chief Minister stated that Chhattisgarh’s vision is aligned with India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, aiming to double its GSDP by 2028. He emphasized that roads are crucial to the state's economic growth and development, with a focus on expanding road networks in rural areas, improving road quality, and using green energy in road construction. Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Shri Ajay Tamta, reiterated the national goal of making India a developed nation by 2047, supported by an extensive road network from the Himalayas to the sea.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao praised Chhattisgarh's natural resources and rapid development, noting the importance of road infrastructure in the state’s growth, with Union support from Shri Gadkari. He expressed hope that the convention would foster innovations in road construction and safety. The event also featured the release of three new guidelines and a manual on road construction and safety, along with a souvenir of the Indian Road Congress.
