Raipur : Chhattisgarh will receive five national awards for outstanding work in the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana—National Urban Livelihoods Mission. The Government of India has selected the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) and four urban bodies—Bilaspur, Raigarh, Champa, and Bhatapara—for the prestigious 'SPARK-2023-24' awards. These awards recognise excellent efforts in empowering urban poor families and enhancing their livelihood opportunities in the state. The award ceremony will be held on July 18 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. It will be organised by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, and the Minister of State, Shri Tokhan Sahu, will present the awards.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Urban Administration and Development Shri Arun Sao congratulated the SUDA team and the four urban bodies for this achievement, which brings pride to the state. He expressed gratitude to the central government for this honour. Under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission, beneficiaries are being supported through social mobility, institutional development, self-employment, skill training, assistance to urban street vendors, and shelter schemes for the urban homeless. Dr. Basvaraju S., Secretary of the Urban Administration Department, also congratulated SUDA and the selected urban bodies. He stated that Chhattisgarh has been consistently performing well in this mission, which is committed to the economic and social empowerment of women and youth.

Shri Shashank Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of SUDA, shared that these awards are being given for excellent work in empowering urban poor families and increasing their livelihood opportunities. Through the effective implementation of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana—National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), urban bodies have made significant improvements in the lives of the urban population. Beneficiaries in the state are continuously supported under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission and the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme.

Chhattisgarh will receive awards for outstanding urban development initiatives

Chhattisgarh is being recognised with national awards for its exceptional work under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana—National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). The state's efforts in 2023–24 have yielded impressive results, including the formation of 2,653 women's self-help groups, with 1,532 groups receiving revolving funds totaling Rs. 1.532 crore. Additionally, 123 area-level organisations and four city-level federations have been established to promote women's empowerment. The state has distributed Rs. 23.5 lakh in grants to 47 area-level organisations and provided individual loans worth Rs. 31.17 crore to 3,028 beneficiaries for various businesses. Group loans totaling Rs. 7.73 crore have been provided to 1,352 members of 340 groups, and bank-linked loans amounting to Rs. 76.74 crore have been provided to 2,766 self-help groups for income-generating activities.

The state is also operating 47 shelter homes in 39 urban bodies, with four more under construction, to accommodate urban homeless individuals. As part of the street vendors' assistance scheme, surveys have been conducted in all urban bodies, and vendor ID cards and certificates have been distributed. Twenty-five vending zones have been demarcated, and nine vending markets have been constructed and operationalised.

Recognising the crucial role of street vendors in supplying essential services and goods, the state is implementing the Prime Minister Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme. A total financial assistance of Rs. 165.25 crore has been provided to needy individuals through banks under the PM SVANidhi scheme.

Raipur : Chief General Manager of SBI Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh Circle Shri Chandrashekhar Sharma paid courtesy call on Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at his residence office today. He presented a flower bouquet and a memento of Bastar Art to the Chief Minister.

At the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sai and Shri Sharma discussed various topics related to the banking sector in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister said that banks play an important role in making government schemes easily accessible to common people. Bank branches should be further expanded to the remote areas of Chhattisgarh state, especially villages, so that more and more people in remote areas can become a part of the banking system.

During the discussion, Chief Minister Shri Sai emphasized on increasing financial inclusion in the state and connecting the people of rural areas with banking literacy. Shri Sharma informed Chief Minister about the steps being taken by the State Bank of India in this direction and the future action plan. Deputy General Manager Raipur Shri Rakesh Kumar Sinha was also present on this occasion.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the "Sankalp Jashpur" program today in Duldula area of Jashpur district. This program has been initiated with the objective of creating societal awareness and behavioral change across the district and to educate women on preventing child marriage, vaccination, sickle cell disease, and snakebite prevention.

Supported by district administration, UNICEF, Women and Child Development Department, Health Department, Education Department, and NRLM, volunteers are conducting awareness campaigns in over 160 panchayats for the public representatives and common people. The campaign includes street plays based on the issues of sickle cell, anemia, snakebite safety, mother-child vaccination, school enrollment drives, plantation drive, as well as prevention and management of health and waterborne diseases, aiming to impart crucial information for public welfare.

Chief Minister Shri Sai also launched videos and cut-outs as part of the Sankalp program. The program was attended by UNICEF district coordinator Shri Tejaram Sarathi and his team, district administration officials, and a number of dignitaries.

Massive sapling distribution campaign to commence in Jashpur, under "Ek Ped Ma ke Naam campaign" initiative

More than 200,000 saplings will be distributed across the district

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the mega plantation drive under the "Ek Ped Ma ke Naam" initiative in Jashpur district. He distributed guava saplings and letters to 10 beneficiaries of Mahatari Vandana scheme during a program held in Duldula.

Chief Minister Shri Sai emphasized that this initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's visionary campaign, aims to express gratitude towards Mother Earth and provide a conducive environment for future generations. He stated in the letter, "I am gifting a sapling to all our mothers and sisters. This sapling not only signifies our responsibility towards nature but also reflects our unbreakable bond with it. Trees provide us with oxygen, which is essential for our existence. Plantation enhances the environment and ensures supply of oxygen for human life."

During the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai handed over a guava sapling to beneficiary Anita Lakda and asked her where she has planned to plant it. Anita said that she would plant the sapling in her courtyard. Shri Sai distributed saplings to the beneficiaries and urged them to care for these plants like their own children, so that future generations may benefit from this tree planting initiative.

On the occasion, Member of Parliament Shri Radheshyam Rathia, MLA Jashpur Mrs. Raymuni Bhagat, MLA Pathalgaon Mrs. Gomti Sai, and other dignitaries were present.

It is noteworthy that under the "Ek Ped Ma ke Naam‘‘ campaign, over 200,000 saplings will be distributed to Mahatari Vandana beneficiaries in Jashpur district. The district administration has made necessary preparations at panchayat level for this extensive distribution.

To attain this goal, state government has deployed high-tech traffic system. After flagging-off 15 new interceptor vehicles from his residence today, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted in his address that compliance to the traffic rules guarantees safe travel and fosters a sense of security among other people on the roads. In view of the increasing number of road accidents, it is imperative to be more vigilant and serious about following traffic regulations. By adhering to these rules, we respect not only our rights but also those of our fellow commuters. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai urged the residents of the state to comply with traffic rules.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister reviewed the utility and technical features of the vehicles.

Chief Minister remarked that road safety is a collective responsibility. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives in road accidents, and many suffer permanent disabilities. The solution to this issue lies in the cooperation of all societal segments. Adherence to these rules ensures smooth commute, by preventing chaos and ensuring a pleasant and safe journey to the destination.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the new interceptor vehicles would monitor rule violators. The objective is not to collect fines but to raise awareness and alert people about the importance of following traffic rules. It is noteworthy that the well-equipped interceptor vehicles in Chhattisgarh will play a vital role in effectively controlling the road accidents. These vehicles are necessary for addressing overspeeding, drunk driving, excessive headlight glare, loud vehicle sound systems, and violations related to dark window tints. The newly-inaugurated 15 new interceptor vehicles are equipped with loudspeakers and 360-degree surveillance cameras, enabling better monitoring of law and order and smooth traffic management in road accident cases.

The procurement of these vehicles was made from the Road Safety Fund following administrative approval based on the recommendations of the State-Level Road Safety Fund Management Committee.

Currently, the new interceptor vehicles are being deployed in the districts of Raipur, Balodabazar, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Durg, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir, Raigarh, Surguja, Jagdalpur, and Kanker. Employees have been trained for the operation of these vehicles in these 15 districts.

Raipur : The Chhattisgarh Government, led by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is making tireless efforts for women empowerment. Recently, the Shri Sai government has taken an initiative to benefit the Mitanins of the state. Chief Minister Shri Sai has transferred incentive amounts through the online mode into the Mitanins' bank accounts on July 12. At the "Nava Saugat" program organised at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, Chief Minister Shri Sai transferred a total of Rs. 90.08 crore as an incentive into the accounts of about 73,831 Mitanins, trainers, and coordinators across the state.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai launched the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' mega tree plantation campaign at the Biodiversity Park in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur. He commenced the campaign by planting a peepal sapling after performing traditional rituals and unveiling the campaign banner. The Forest Department aims to plant 4 crore trees across the state under this initiative. Today, the Forest Department has planted 4 lakh trees in all 33 districts of the state. At the Biodiversity Park, Chief Minister Shri Sai, along with cabinet ministers, schoolchildren, CRPF personnel, and officials from the police and forest departments, planted 20,000 trees. The Chief Minister toured the plantation area in an open Jeep to encourage participants. Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap presided over the event.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, addressing the event, stated, “Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called upon all 140 crore Indians to plant a tree in honour of their mothers. This call has transformed into a movement, and Chhattisgarh is taking it up as a campaign, with the Forest Department aiming to plant 4 crore saplings. Today, 6 lakh saplings are being planted across the state's 33 districts.

Various species are being planted, including the peepal tree, which provides oxygen 24 hours a day, neem trees, and medicinal plants like harra, baheda, and amla”. The Chief Minister emphasised the necessity of tree planting, highlighting the record-breaking heat experienced across the country this year, with temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius. He appreciated the schoolchildren, CRPF personnel, and forest and police department staff for participating in the plantation drive. He also appealed to all schools to have children plant a tree in honour of their mothers within school premises.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai convened a meeting with the delegation of the 16th Central Finance Commission, led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, on July 11. During the meeting, Shri Sai requested special grants for Chhattisgarh, emphasising the state's unique circumstances and needs. He highlighted that Chhattisgarh, a newly formed state with a large tribal population, faces challenging geographical conditions. It is also affected by the Naxal activities. He stressed that additional financial resources are necessary to bring Chhattisgarh on par with developed states.

Shri Sai informed Commission about the rapid development work being carried out in Naxal-affected areas and the effective measures being taken to curb Naxal activities. He pointed out that the challenging geographical conditions in these areas lead to additional expenditure on infrastructure development. He also shared the details of ongoing efforts under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana to provide basic facilities such as education, health, roads, electricity, and water in these regions.

The Chief Minister emphasised that increased financial assistance from the Central Finance Commission would significantly boost public welfare projects in backward areas. He stated, "As India is rapidly becoming an economic superpower, Chhattisgarh is working hard to contribute to this growth. We will realise the vision of a developed Chhattisgarh alongside a developed India." He expressed hope that the Finance Commission would provide additional financial support to help realise the state's vision.

Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted the increased costs and extended time frames for infrastructure projects such as railways, roads, telecommunications, energy, and irrigation due to challenging geographical conditions. He also mentioned the additional expenses incurred to address environmental damage and health impacts caused by mining activities. Additionally, he pointed out that, due to the GST as a consumption-based destination tax system, the actual benefits of mining activities are accruing to states where mineral value addition and consumption occur rather than to Chhattisgarh.

Highlighting the state's economic progress, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that Chhattisgarh started with a small economy of just Rs. 29,539 crore in 2000 but has now achieved a GSDP target of Rs. 5 lakh 9 thousand crore in 2023–24. He announced the government’s aim to double its GSDP size in the next five years and requested an increase in the central government's share of centrally sponsored schemes jointly funded by the central and state governments.

Dr. Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the Central Finance Commission, praised Chhattisgarh's rapid economic progress during his visit to the state. He commended the beautiful and well-planned development of Nava Raipur and emphasised the need to focus on manufacturing units to achieve the goal of a developed India and Chhattisgarh. Dr. Panagariya highlighted the state's fiscal stability, economic growth, and improvement in social indicators, describing Chhattisgarh as a newly emerging and fast-growing state. He underscored human resources as the state's biggest asset, stressing the need for skill development in the manufacturing and service sectors.

Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary presented the state's financial status, highlighting the development of Nava Raipur as a green smart city and requesting additional central resources for infrastructure development. He assured that Chhattisgarh would continue to maintain fiscal discipline and is working to fix leakages in the tax system using modern technology. The Finance Minister also offered important suggestions regarding the criteria for tax sharing between the centre and states. Deputy Chief Ministers and other ministers presented information about their departmental schemes and requested more resources.

Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain delivered the welcome address. DGP Shri Ashok Juneja outlined the resource needs of the police force, while Shri Saurabh Kumar, CEO of NRDA, provided details on the resource requirements for Nava Raipur projects.

Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs reviews progress of schemes in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh set to regain 'Power Surplus State' status: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur : Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal, during his visit to Raipur today, reviewed the progress of energy and housing development in Chhattisgarh. He stated that Chhattisgarh would experience accelerated development through improved coordination between the state and central governments. The Government of India pledged full cooperation to meet all electricity and housing needs in Chhattisgarh. Shri Lal mentioned the ongoing reform initiatives across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, aligned closely with public aspirations.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, and Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain were also present in the review meeting.

Shri Manohar Lal pointed out, "Many subsidy schemes are being implemented by the Central Government to ensure affordable and ample electricity supply to the people. There are also numerous schemes aimed at promoting solar energy." He urged the state government to fully utilize the funds and grants provided by the Government of India, assuring that quicker implementation would expedite the release of funds. He guaranteed seamless cooperation from the Central Government in executing development schemes in the state.

Union Minister suggested, "The 100 buses allotted to Raipur under the Clean City initiative could also be used to connect Naya Raipur and Raipur." He reviewed initiatives by the Electricity Department to minimize line-loss, install smart meters, electrify areas dominated by special backward tribes, and ensure coal availability for power generation. Besides, he reviewed projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM SVANidhi, Swachh Bharat Mission, PM e-Bus Seva, Smart City Mission, and National Urban Development Mission. Chief Minister Shri Sai urged the Union Minister to prioritize approval for the pending 19,906 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), along with nearly 50,000 houses that require revised central funding, in line with applications received during the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra'. He expressed optimism that today's meeting would spark progress in energy sector and urban development in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Urban Administration and Development Shri Arun Sao affirmed in the meeting that the state is diligently following Government of India guidelines for urban development. Discussions to be held on state's financial needs and economic progress

Raipur : A 12-member team led by Chairman Shri Arvind Panagariya of the 16th Finance Commission of India is arriving in the capital Raipur on Wednesday. The team will hold discussions with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, cabinet members, and senior officials on various issues, including the state's financial needs, infrastructure development, and economic progress. The Finance Commission will also visit Jagdalpur on July 12 and 13.

Commission members Shri Ajay Narayan Jha, Smt. Annie George Mathew, Dr. Manoj Panda, Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, and Commission Secretary Shri Ritvik Ranjanam Pandey, along with Joint Secretary Shri Kamal Kumar Mishra, Joint Director Shri Raghvendra Singh, and other officials, will also come.

According to the schedule, the team will arrive at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur on July 10 at 6:20 PM. The following day, July 11, at 10 AM, the Chairman and members will meet Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai in his office at Mantralaya. Subsequently, at 10:25 AM, a meeting will take place at Mahanadi Bhawan, where Chief Minister Shri Sai will address attendees, covering various issues, including the state's financial requirements. A presentation on the state's financial situation will also be given during this meeting.

On July 11 itself, discussions will be held with representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions, urban institutions, and political parties at Hotel Mayfair from 2:30 PM to 5 PM.

The Commission will engage with representatives from industry and commerce organizations at Hotel Mayfair on July 12 from 9:15 AM to 10 AM. Following this, there is a scheduled visit to Naya Raipur from 10 AM to 12 PM. Afterward, the team will depart for Jagdalpur and, following overnight rest, a meeting will be held with Panchayat representatives at Jagdalpur Circuit House the next day, July 13.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai chaired the Cabinet Meeting today at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan) and following key decisions were taken at the meeting:

1. Cabinet has decided to approve the procedural format for the transfer of occupied forest land to the heirs in the revenue or forest records upon the death of individual forest right holders under the Forest Rights Act. This will include geo-referencing of the map and the integration of the plot's Aadhaar number, which will be used for transfer, demarcation, and division.

2. To enhance the quality of the education system in Chhattisgarh, the Cabinet has decided to extensively implement the National Education Policy-2020, issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Under this policy, children will be imparted education in the local language or dialect up to the 5th standard. Additionally, it recommends ensuring education for all from pre-primary to 12th standard. The existing 10+2 academic structure will be replaced with the 5+3+3+4 structure to provide equitable and inclusive education.

3. In the recruitment process for various nursing and technical positions under the Chhattisgarh Armed Auxiliary Platoon Commander (Nursing), the maximum age limit will be relaxed by 5 years for the year 2023. This relaxation will be applicable once, providing an additional 5 years to the unreserved category and a further 5 years to the already relaxed age limit for the reserved categories.

4. A separate "Good Governance and Convergence Department" has been established for the effective implementation of state government welfare policies, good governance, and addressing public issues. This department will include e-Review, e-Public Service Guarantee, and Digital Secretariat. The Cabinet has approved the amendment of "Chhattisgarh Government Work (Allocation) Rules" for this purpose, while shifting these branches from the General Administration Department.

5. The registration date for providing housing to homeless, economically weaker, and lower-class families in Naya Raipur has been extended by three years. Under Mukhyamantri Aawas Yojana, affordable housing facilities are being developed in Naya Raipur, and the registration date to avail this scheme has been extended from March 31, 2024, to March 31, 2027. This decision is expected to increase the registration possibilities for vacant houses.

6. Naya Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority has been authorized to prepare a detailed project report for the establishment of Chhattisgarh State Capital Region and the related authority, akin to the National Capital Region. The Housing and Environment Department has been designated as the administrative department for this purpose. A provision of Rs 5 crore has been made for this project in the budget of current financial year.

7. The amendment to the Chhattisgarh Government Store Purchase Rules, 2002 (as revised in 2022), was approved. All the state government departments are to procure materials, goods, and services available on the Government of India’s GeM website, following the prescribed procedures. Any additional requirements will need the consent of the Finance Department. The existing rate contracts of CSIDC will be cancelled at the end of this month to prevent corruption.

8. The Cabinet has decided to obtain approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, to grant non-functional pay scale equivalent to Principal Chief Conservator of Forests to six officers serving as Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in the Indian Forest Service, Chhattisgarh cadre, from 1992 to 1994, effective from January 1, 2024.

9. Cabinet has decided to grant one-time relaxation of one year for the minimum five-year service period required for promotion from Superintending Engineer (Civil) to Chief Engineer (Civil).

10. Under Mukhyamantri Aawas Yojana (Rural), the Cabinet has approved the provision of housing for 47,090 surveyed homeless families in Chhattisgarh. In the survey conducted from April 1 to April 30, 2023, 59.79 lakh families were covered in the state, identifying 47,090 families as homeless, whose names are not included in the permanent waitlist of the Socio-Economic and Caste Census. These families will be provided housing under Mukhyamantri Aawas Yojana (Rural).

Shri Sao performs foundation stone laying and bhoomipujan for 94 development projects worth Rs 15 crore

Raipur : Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Sao laid the foundation stone and performed bhoomipujan for 94 development works worth Rs 14.73 crore aimed at development of the wards within the Municipal Corporation area under Beltara Assembly constituency. MLA Shri Sushant Shukla presided over the function held at the District Sports Complex of Bilaspur. These development initiatives have been sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission, owing to the proactive efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao and MLA Shri Shukla. The majority of the approved projects focus on the construction of CC roads, drains, and installation of street lights.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao and MLA Shri Shukla participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign by planting neem saplings at the sports complex.

Raipur : Mahtari Vandan Yojana is proving to be a boon for women across the state, bringing hope to helpless and destitute women in need of financial assistance and promoting their economic empowerment, making them self-reliant. The scheme is not just a financial aid programme but a lifeline for many women in Chhattisgarh, empowering them to meet their family's needs independently. In just four months, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai's government has brought a wave of joy not only among the women of Chhattisgarh but also in their families, visibly improving their quality of life.

The first installment of Rs 1,000 was transferred to women's accounts on March 10 this year. More than 70.12 lakh women in the state are benefiting from the scheme. Every month for the past four months, the Chief Minister has transferred the amount directly to women's bank accounts through an online medium in the first week of each month. This prompt transfer, activated with a press of a button by the Chief Minister himself, has become synonymous with happiness for lakhs of women across the state. No longer dependent on others for their daily needs, women are using this money not only for themselves but also contributing to their family expenses. They eagerly await this monthly financial support.

One such beneficiary, Smt. Meera Bai, whose husband is physically challenged, manages household expenses by working as a labourer. With three children attending school, she uses the scheme amount as soon as the school term starts to meet their needs and household expenses. She expressed, "I have responsibilities towards my home, and the Rs 1,000 I receive every month is a significant contribution. With this amount, I can fulfill the needs of my children and husband."

Smt. Savita Bai, whose husband works in the village fields, shared her happiness with the scheme, stating, "As soon as I hear about Mahtari Vandan Yojana, it brings a smile to my face. For us village women, Rs 1,000 is generous. Traditionally, women would save small amounts like two, four, or five rupees, gradually accumulating to a hundred or two hundred rupees. Now, receiving Rs 1,000 through the scheme has become a lifeline during challenging times. I use it for my children's needs and no longer have to ask my husband for small amounts."

Smt. Budhwar Bai, living in a forested area, visited the Haat Bazar of Rathia village with her grandson Ashish. Using the Mahtari Vandan Yojana amount, she bought sweets for her grandchildren and purchased slippers for Ashish so he wouldn't have to walk barefoot in the rain. Reflecting on her gratitude, she said, "I only have my son and grandchildren. It brings me immense happiness in my old age that I can fulfill some of their needs. This has only been possible because of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and his government, who have brought sweetness to our challenging lives."

State-level event for the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" mega plantation campaign will be organised on July 11

Raipur : The state-level event for "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" mega plantation campaign will be organised on July 11 at 4 p.m. at the Biodiversity Park, Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will grace the event as chief guest, while Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap will preside over the event. The main objective of the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" mega tree plantation drive is to maintain environmental balance by making the state greener through extensive tree planting. Prime Minister Narendra Shri Modi launched this tree plantation drive on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024. Under this campaign, it is proposed to plant 80 crore trees across the country by September 2024 and 140 crore trees by March 2025. As part of the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" mega plantation drive, the Forest Department of Chhattisgarh will plant 3 crore 85 lakh saplings in forest and non-forest areas.

Chief Minister Shri Sai has called for naming plantation sites after local deities. Tree planting programs will be organised in all districts at village and panchayat levels with the participation of public representatives. Under this scheme, fruit-bearing plants such as mango, jamun, bael, jackfruit, custard apple, pomegranate, mulberry, ber, tendu, and gangai imli are being planted. Additionally, minor forest produce and medicinal species like harra, baheda, amla, neem, putranjiva, kala siris, ritha, and chitrak are also being planted. In urban areas, shade-providing species like banyan, peepal, moulshree, kadam, peltrophorum, gulmohar, karanj, ashok, and arjuna are being planted along with other varieties. The campaign includes planting trees in all schools, hostels, anganwadi centres, police stations, hospitals, government premises, government and non-government lands, and vacant lands of various industrial institutions.

The mega plantation drive involves cooperation from all government departments, non-governmental organisations, voluntary institutions, forest management committee members, panchayat institutions at all levels, students from schools and colleges, prominent citizens, and public representatives to ensure their participation in the tree planting efforts.

Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, along with Raipur MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal and Abhanpur MLA Shri Indra Kumar Sahu, will attend as distinguished guests. Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended the State Level Krishi Sahkaar Sammelan Evam Samman Samaroh at the 'Krishi Mandapam' of the Agricultural College in Jora, Raipur. He stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recognised the importance of cooperatives and established a separate Ministry of Cooperation to promote prosperity through cooperatives for the upliftment of villages, the poor, and farmers across the country. This demonstrates the significant contribution of cooperatives to the development of rural areas and farmers. The Chief Minister noted that India has a long-standing tradition of cooperatives, and even the biggest tasks can be easily accomplished through cooperative efforts. He emphasised that cooperatives have played a major role in the economic revolution in rural areas. Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam stated that the government cannot function without cooperation, cooperation cannot exist without culture, and prosperity cannot be achieved without cooperation. Shri Netam highlighted the importance of the cooperative movement in Chhattisgarh, noting that it has brought significant changes to the lives of the poor and farmers. He stressed the need for continued cooperation to make Chhattisgarh capable and advanced, adding that participation is crucial. If everyone understands their responsibility, it will lead to prosperity for both individuals and society.

Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, Member of Parliament, expressed his joy at the opportunity to participate in the event following his election.
