New Delhi. The heroes of the tribal community, who played an important role in the nation's building and freedom movement have not got their proper place in the pages of history. This fact came to fore in an event held at IIT Delhi's Senate Hall.
In spite of spending thousands of crores of rupees in 75 years of independence, call it coincidence or conspiracy, but it is certain that the immortal saga of the heroes of this community was buried in such a way that even their descendants may not remember it now.
Padmashree J.K.Bajaj was the chief guest of this program organized by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes on the topic "Research in Tribal Communities and Universities". The program was attended by vice-chancellors of over 70 universities & many other prominent personalities were also present.
Eminent educationist and Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, who participated in this program, said in the conversation that Birsa Munda was a frontline freedom fighter and he played an important role in the movement. He is also called Lord Birsa, but he has not got the kind of place he deserves in history. The immortal saga of many such heroes is missing from the pages of history.
There is a large number of tribals in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Orissa, Maharashtra and eastern region of the country, but they could not get proper place. He said that many steps were taken by his university in this direction, said Dr. Kushwaha.
The civilization and culture of the tribals is very ancient. They have contributed significantly in nation building and independence. He said that the work of synchronizing their history is being done in this Amrit Mohatsav year of independence. It is a matter of pride for Mrs. Draupadi Murmu to become the President, he said. L.S.
